Chapter 71 All In A Day's Work

August looked up to see Remi approaching with her signature mischievous grin. Her wavy auburn hair was tied up in a loose ponytail, and her apron hung casually over her fitted black dress.

"Hey, Remi," August greeted with a smile.

She leaned against the edge of his table, peering at his laptop.

Her top button was unfastened so a smooth set of plump cleavages was exposed, showing that Remi was in no way flat.

"What's got you all serious today? Looking for a hot date online?" She questioned.

August chuckled playfully. "Not this time. I'm looking for an apartment. Somewhere safe and decent for me and my sister."

Remi's eyes sparkled as she leaned in closer. "I might know a place," she said.

"Really?" August asked while raising an eyebrow.

"Yup. My cousin just moved out of this nice two-bedroom apartment in the West District. It's got everything—security, utilities, even a gym in the building. And it's not insanely priced."

"How much are we talking?"

"About $4,000 a month," she replied. Read the latest on empire

August considered it. "Sounds reasonable. Can you get me in touch with your cousin?"

Remi nodded before pulling out her phone. "I'll call her right now. See? Aren't you glad I'm here?"

"You're always a lifesaver," August said with a smirk.

"Don't forget it," Remi quipped, dialing the number.

As Remi spoke to her cousin, August leaned back in his chair, feeling a bit more at ease. The pieces of his new life were slowly falling into place.

Remi ended her call with a satisfied smile, sliding her phone into her apron pocket. "Well, good news, handsome. My cousin said he'll help you out, but here's the thing—he won't be back in the city for another five days. He hasn't completely moved out yet, and some of his stuff is still in the apartment."

August nodded with a relaxed expression. "That's fine. I can wait. It's not like I'm in a rush, anyway."

Remi leaned forward resting her arms on the table, inadvertently emphasizing her exposed cleavage where the top button of her shirt was undone. "You're way too patient. If I were you, I'd be making some pretty drastic decisions."

August chuckled while meeting her eyes.

She obviously wasn't referring to the apartment in this case.

"Patience pays off, Remi. And besides, it's not about the flash—it's about sustainability," August responded.

Her lips curled into a teasing smile. "Oh, so you're the practical, responsible type? That's rare. Most men I know won't waste any time in certain situations."

"Not my style," August replied with a smirk while leaning back in his chair. "But I'll admit, it's tempting."

Remi's gaze lingered on him for a moment longer than necessary. "Well, you're full of surprises, aren't you? If you ever need help with anything else, you know where to find me."

"Careful, Remi," August said playfully. "I might just take you up on that."

She leaned closer, dropping her tone to something more sultry. "I'm counting on it."

As the evening light began to filter through the café's windows, August finally stood up, stretching slightly. "Thanks again for helping out. You've been a lifesaver today."

Remi tilted her head, letting her ponytail sway slightly. "Don't mention it. Just don't forget to come back and see me once you're all rich and famous. Preferably before that."

"Deal," August said with a grin as he grabbed his things.

He gave her a mock salute before stepping out of the café.

The sun was dipping low on the horizon, casting the city streets in a warm amber glow. August stuffed his hands into his pockets as he walked, taking in the sights and sounds of the bustling city.

He passed by vendors closing up shop, streetlights flickering to life and the faint buzz of traffic in the distance. His mind wandered to the things he still needed to do—preparing for the business launch, ensuring Sophia's safety, and keeping up his progress in Enders Light.

The day had been productive, but as the city lights brightened, he couldn't help but feel a familiar tug—the game calling him back. The Ancient Swordking Dungeon would be opening soon, and he wasn't about to miss it. Sёarᴄh the Nôvel(F)ire.ηet website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

As soon as August pushed the door open, he was greeted by the sound of hurried footsteps. Before he could even step inside, Sophia darted into view with her face lit up like a thousand-watt bulb.

"Auggis!" she squealed while throwing herself into his arms.

August stumbled back slightly, laughing as he caught her. "Whoa, what's with the enthusiasm? Did I miss your birthday or something?"

Sophia pulled away just enough to beam up at him, holding onto his jacket. "No, but I saw the clothes you got me! They're amazing! Thank you so much!"

He smiled warmly while ruffling her hair. "Glad you liked them. I figured it was time to replace that old gown of yours and add a few extras while I was at it."

Sophia stepped back and twirled in one of the new hoodies he'd bought for her. "I love it! But…" Her smile faltered slightly. "Where did you get the money for all this? Did you—did something bad happen?"

August chuckled while shaking his head. "Relax, nothing bad happened. In fact, I've got some good news for you." He led her to the couch, where they both sat down. "I quit the factory today."

Her eyes widened in shock. "What?! August, why?"

He leaned back, giving her a reassuring smile. "Because I've got a better plan. I'm starting a business. And before you ask, yes, I've already got the money for it. It's all thanks to Enders Light. Things are starting to pay off, and if I keep at it, this could change everything for us."

Sophia's shock quickly turned into excitement. "Really? That's amazing! Wait…" She gave him a sly grin. "So you're telling me gaming is working out? Did Auggie become rich already?"

"Well, I wouldn't say rich just yet," August said with a smirk. "But give it time."

Sophia clapped her hands together. "Maybe I should start playing Enders Light, too. What do you think?"

August raised a brow, teasing her. "You think you can handle it? It's not all fun and games, you know. There are monsters, dungeons, and some pretty nasty players out there... But it is always fun hehe..."

"I could handle it," she said confidently, crossing her arms. "I've watched people play sometimes, and it doesn't seem that hard."

He laughed. "Alright, we'll see about that. When the time comes, I'll get us another gaming pod, and you can join me."

"Yaay!" Sophia rejoined while grinning.

They spent the next hour catching up over dinner, which Sophia had already prepared.

She eagerly told August about her day at school and proudly announced, "Guess who got the highest score in the class on our history test?"

August feigned ignorance, stroking his chin. "Hmm, let me think. Was it… someone with green hair?"

She playfully slapped his arm. "Yes, me! I got a 98!"

"That's my girl," August voiced with a genuinely proud tone. He reached over and gave her a high-five. "You're making it hard for me to keep up. Next thing you know, you'll be running your own business and leaving me in the dust."

Sophia giggled. "Don't worry, I'll let you work for me."
