Chapter 39 Meeting The Neighbors

Heading deep into the cave with a fireball floating beside him, Elric walked towards the direction of the shriek.

"Young master, wait up!"

Calling from behind him Davis shouted towards Elric, unfortunately Elric's mind was still on the fact that he might be cursed with bad luck.

*Calm down Elric, so what if you're cursed? So far no matter what setback, you've walked out of it safely*

*Think about it, the fight with Slohet, the appearance of the horde, the collapsing of the valley, any of these things is enough to severely injure or worst-case scenario kill someone however you made it out alive*

Stopping his tracks to take a deep breath, Elric began to slowly analyse his situation.

"Thank goodness young master, you finally stopped, what happened just now? Your face suddenly became serious"

Obviously worrying about his change of mood, Davis couldn't help but ask him what was wrong.

"Oh it's nothing, I'm just a bit frustrated due to the fact that one thing keeps coming up after another"

Speaking of this, Elric had a slight frustration on his face.

"However it's alright now, let's quickly find out what's making that noise, after all, given the fact that there's no current exit we might have to stay here for a while"

"And since we're staying here, it's only right we go check if we have any neighbours, who knows, they might throw us a housewarming party"

Waving his hands with a light smile, Elric tried to laugh it off showing he was okay

Seeing Elric like this, although Davis knew there was still something on Elric's mind, but out of respect for boundaries and trust in him, he chose to remain silent

Soon the two of them continue to head deeper into the cave.

After calming down and feeling Davis worries, it was then Elric realised he'd been acting out of sorts lately after all it was too unlike him to rush head first towards the sound without considering the danger.

Realising this, Elric slowed down his pace and took the opportunity to survey the cave's interior.

Scanning the wall, the first thing that came to sight were the different types of rock formations, none of which had ever been recorded on the blue star, seeing this, Elric's mood had started to change from worrying about the cure to curiosity about his environment

Soon with the help of the A.I chip, starting with the width and height of the passageway all different kinds of minerals and formations were recorded on the A.I. chip

And recording all this new knowledge, Elric was suddenly in a good mood laughing from time to time causing him to receive strange looks from Davis

*It seems young master might have lost it completely* mumbling slightly, the worry on Davis's face as he looked at Elric increased

Unfortunately little did he know that Elric who had been enhanced before could hear him clearly.

*Damn Davis who's lost it*

Clenching his teeth Elric couldn't help but want to ask him whose lost it

"Roaaar!!"

However, just as he was about to say something, the roar sounded again only this time it sounded a lot closer than before

"Davis stay back, it seems we're almost there"

Motioning for him to stay back, Elric looked at the entrance In front of him with vigilance.

In his front lay a whole most likely the entrance to the inner chamber of the cave, and listening to the roar just now, there was no doubt that the sound came from there

So in the spirit of being cautious, Elric quickly ordered the A.I chip to scan his surroundings

"A.I chip scan my surroundings"

[Yes host! Scanning surroundings]

And just like before, an invisible fluctuation was emitted from Elric outward enveloping the cave

[Scan complete!]

With the last beep from the A.I chip, a stream of information rushed into Elric's mind.

However, after taking a minute or two to digest the information, a weird look appeared on Elric's face.

*What's going on?* Elric asked himself in confusion.

Just to be sure, Elric conducted another scan with the A.I chip however the results were the same.

According to the A.I chips scan results, inside that cave, around five to ten mana signatures could be detected however the level of mana in them seemed to be rapidly fading like it would go out any minute from now.

"Could it be some injured monsters came to hide here during the war and are now about to die of injures"

"Or could it be that some monsters strayed into this cave during the war just now and had a fight with the cave's original inhabitants?"

Soon under Elric's quick thinking and reasoning abilities, a variety of scenarios were quickly deduced by him.

And so, the more he thought of it the more Elric felt his guess was correct, soon he had a wide smile on his face

*It seems that as a new occupant of this cave I should do like a good neighbour and end their suffering*

*After all, how can I call myself a good person when I see someone in pain and can't help*

With this in mind, Elric had already begun to plan on how to take advantage of their injury and kill them quickly

"Davis get ready, we're about to meet them"

Talking to Davis, Elric licked his lips as he looked forward to entering the inner chamber

"Ready to meet who?"

Unfortunately, Davis beside him couldn't help but be confused

*Could it be that I was correct earlier and the young master has gone crazy from stress?*

Thinking of this Davis stepped backward looking at Elric warily

*Bam!*

Patting Davis on the shoulder Elric couldn't help but look at him angrily

"Damn! What are you thinking of? follow me, the sound of roar came from over there!"

"Oh and be careful, it seems whoever released that roar currently has company"

Saying that without waiting for Davis response, Elric slowly crept towards the inner chamber and Davis after giving a dry laugh had no choice but to quietly follow him
