A dish for adults that goes well with alcohol: tako wasabi.

First, I minced up some wasabi leaves.

Then, I mixed the minced wasabi and wasabi leaves together with a little bit of soy sauce, alcohol, and mirin. Finally, I cut the kraken into small pieces and mixed them in.

All I have to do now is to let the kraken soak up the flavors, and the dish will be ready.

There, that was easy.

Let’s give it a taste.

Nom.

Fwah. Mmm!!

Delicious!

The flavor of fresh wasabi is great. The way the distinctive spiciness goes up your nose is the best. It matches the kraken well.

Mm, the kraken wasn’t bland at all. It tasted just like octopus did.

Octopuses are rather expensive, so you can’t eat a lot of them that often. With this kraken though, we can basically do an all-you-can-eat…

As I thought about it, I looked down at the takowasa I made.

I only made a small bowl’s worth of takowasa for Rofas-san, Saga-san, Bryce-kun, and myself, since I wasn’t expecting everyone to eat a lot of it, but… I could only imagine Rofas-san wanting seconds or even thirds.

It felt like he would go after Saga-san and Bryce-kun’s portions if I didn’t make enough.

Let’s make more, just in case.

I made a large batch of takowasa.

Well, thanks to the wasabi’s antibacterial effects, the takowasa should last until tomorrow without being refrigerated, right? No, it’s still dangerous since the kraken is raw. Maybe I should ask Bryce-kun to freeze the leftovers.

Now, time to boil the daikon and make something out of the cooked rice!

Sushi!

We can only make octopus sushi right now… What else can I make sushi with? Spring onions? …Now that I think about it, wasn’t there sushi made with the sprouts?

「Kirika washed them!」

I looked at the spring onions that Kirika-chan was holding.

Hmm, these spring onions are ripe. Even so, they still have the white part.

「Would it be okay if I sliced the white part into fine slices? 」

There are other sushi out there that uses spring onions like negitoro, so it’s not like spring onions don’t match sushi to begin with.

In other words…

The line-up became octopus, thin spring onion slices, and smoked mountain birds.

I melted the candy I got from Saga-san and mixed it together with vinegar, then poured it over the cooked rice.

I turned to Kirika-chan and asked her to mix up the rice like she was cutting them.

…Since we don’t have a rice scoop, we’ll have to use a wooden plank. I want a rice scoop now.

If I asked someone to make it by describing the shape, would they do it for me?

If so, it’d be nice if I could get eating chopsticks, serving chopsticks, a rice scoop, and a wooden container for cooked rice too. Oh right, and bento boxes too.

…But considering how Rofas-san is such a big eater, the wooden container can probably be his bento box. Fufufu.

Wait, this isn’t the time to be joking about that.

「Okay, Kurtz-kun, Kirika-chan, let’s make sushi.」

「Sushi?」

「That’s right. We’re going to mould the rice, but this time, we’re making it into this shape.」

I began shaping the sushi rice. *grip, grip*

I moulded the rice not too hard, but enough that it wouldn’t crumble.

「The adults get this green paste called wasabi on theirs. I won’t put any on for Kirika-chan and Kurtz-kun. I wonder if Bryce-kun can eat wasabi?」

I heard that you’re supposed to spread the wasabi over the rice, but… When I think about it, just because adults are older doesn’t mean they can eat wasabi.

Back when I was in Japan, I was used to eating wasabi so I can handle it well, but it’s possible that Rofas-san and Saga-san won’t like it.

「Nevermind, I won’t put any wasabi in their pieces either. I’ll just put some on my own, and let them decide whether they want some wasabi themselves. 」

I said to Kurts-kun and Kirika-chan, and returned my focus to moulding the rice.

I couldn’t figure out exactly how much Rofas-san was going to eat.

Unlike the yaki-onigiri, one piece of sushi is small, so you can eat a lot.

Ahh. I want some shellfish, but more than that, I want nori.

Nori.

There are oceans in this world, right? But even if they do, it doesn’t mean there’s nori.

I guess I have to go out to town and look for them myself.

「Let’s see, this should be good.」

There was some sushi rice leftover, but we didn’t have saran wrap, so after some time, it’ll harden and taste bad. I decided to try and use up all of the rice.

If it still wasn’t enough, I could just make more rice later.

「Okay, it’s time to eat!」

It was a little earlier than our usual dinner time.

However, with the uproar caused by the kraken and having to evacuate into the dungeon for three nights, it had been a while since we had a proper meal.

Everyone can eat despite dinner time being a little earlier than usual, right?
