Chapter 223: Truth of the Past

Act 8

Even Rihannan realized that the mood inside of the palace grounds became a little strange. While she was personally picking out goods to purchase from merchants yesterday, Madam Sessly received some report from servants and made an extremely surprised face. Rihannan asked what the report was, but Madam Sessly vaguely avoided answering, saying that it was nothing.

Afterwards, maids would all try to avoid their gaze towards Rihannan whenever their eyes met. They looked like they would faint if she as much asked what their problem was, so Rihannan couldn’t bring herself to ask the question. And so, Rihannan realized that the people working inside the palace grounds are hiding something from her. Of course, Madam Sessly was included in those people as well.

However, Rihannan didn’t press on to Madam Sessly for answers like last time. She knew that she may not know what the problem is, but it is done all because they were worried about her.

Thinking that things have changed quite a lot since how she was treated in the beginning, Rihannan made a bitter smile. At that time she was angered by the fact that they were hiding information about Princess Rissel from her, but now Rihannan was completely putting her trust on Madam Sessly.

Feeling once again that much time had passed, Rihannan stared at the Autumn leaves falling outside the window. In that bleak scenary, she was reminded of Chrichton. It must be snowing around this time there…

Rihannan’s eyes were filled with emotions of longing. When she would wake up in the morning and open her eyes, the windows would be completely covered in frost shaped like white snow flowers. After opening the windows which would have been difficult due the fact that it was frozen stiff, her eyes would have met with a vast scenary of Winter snowland, which Rihannan was longing for greatly.

Even while thinking that she wanted to go to Chrichton where Dima and her uncle lived as soon as possible, she suddenly had the thought. If she get to Chrichton, would she end up longing for Arundel?

Longing for this scenary, as well as people that she would leave behind here.

“My queen, his majesty has arrived.”

Hearing that he had arrived without any notice beforehand, Rihannan made a surprised expression.

“What is it suddenly?”

“Well…”

Madam Sessly was having trouble speaking out her mind when Igor opened the door to the room and entered. Madam Sessly gave a gesture with her eyes, making all the maids leave the room.

“I hope you have pleasent talks. We’ll bring some tea soon.”

After saying that, Madam Sessly left the room and only the two of them were left inside. Then, a horrifying silence fell between them. With their mouths shut tight, they avoided each other’s gaze. In the end, Rihannan opened her mouth first.

“Please do sit down.”

Even after they sat down at a chair facing each other, no words passed between them. As the maids came in and brought tea, only the sounds of teacups clacking as it’s set on the table were heard in the deathly silence. In the end, Rihannan yet again had to open her mouth first.

“May I ask what the reason for you to come here is?”

“How do you feel about staying in the royal villa for a while?”

It was a very sudden question, as sudden as the visitation he did without any notice beforehand. Hearing the person who became so angry after hearing that she went to the royal villa that he chased after her in the past say such a thing made Rihannan stunned for words for a moment.
