Chapter 254: His Aim
Rihanann’s face looked pale as a white sheet as she laid on the bed. As the doctor finished examining her condition for the second time, he turned to Igor and spoke, “In anycase, the queen and the child within her stomach are both safe and sound. You won’t need to be terribly worried about them.”
Igor let out a big sigh of relief he had been keeping back for a while. However, he still looked nervous as he waited for the doctor to continue his sentence.
“However, you must let the queen rest without any disturbance from now on no matter what.”
“She will be fine if she just rests?”
“Yes. You must not give the queen any more mental shock than you have until now. Of course, she has to rest her body as well.”
Finishing up his examination, the doctor then left the room. Igor, Basil and Mrs. Cessley moved to the room adjacent and sat on some seats. They all became deathly quiet for a while. Basil and Mrs. Cessley quietly watched for Igor’s expression without saying much at all the whole time.
Igor looked as if he had lost all emotions on his face. It was nearly impossible to predict what he could be thinking just from looking at his expression. In the end, Mrs. Cessley couldn’t stand it anymore and tapped Basil’s foot with hers lightly. Just as Basil was about to clear his throat to say anything at all, Igor spoke first.
“Danil Lyurik. How was his body disposed of?”
Basil was actually enthused to hear that question instead of anything else. If it was about work, he would happily talk about it as much as he could.
“We’ve taken in his body for now. All the subordinates that he brought along with him seemed to have all taken their own lives. We tried to save at least one of them, but it wasn’t possible. It seems that they’ve all planned for such case.”
“…And the crown prince will pretend as if he doesn’t know anything about it.”
It was an obvious thing once you saw how they’ve all decided to take their own lives as a group. If something were to go wrong, they would all seal their mouths by dying right away. Even if Igor were to heavily retaliate against Chrichton for thisa*sassination attempt, Chrichton would only claim that it was completely Danil Lurik’s idea and that they had nothing to do with it.
“But we cannot just let this pass. No matter what happens, we must get adequate compensation for their attempteda*sassination of the queen!”
Hearing Mrs. Cessley’s fiery claim, Basil just put his head down and cringed at her reaction. Since the crown prince of Chrichton would not willingly admit of thea*sassination, the only way to receive adequate compensation from them would only be by war.
War wasn’t some trivial battle. It was a decision you would only make once you are ready to sacrifice numerous lives to even start it. The fact that they were able to grasp victory in their hands without having nearly any sort of damage dealt to either side in the first war between them was nothing short of a miracle. On top of that, it was different this time as the queen was of Chrichton descent. The action to take revenge for what was done to her could put her in an even more disastrous position.
“We’ll make sure they pay adequate compensation.”
A moment later, hearing Igor’s low growling voice come out from his mouth made Basil gulp down his fear. He had thought that he must have lost his temper due to what had happened to the queen.
“Your majesty, war isn’t something so trivia…”
“That man shall definitely pay compensation for what he’s done specifically when I want, and exactly how I want him to.”
Basil realized that what Igor meant was that it wasn’t war that he was aiming for. Basil didn’t know exactly what it would entail, but he knew that Igor had a plan.
“I understand.”
