Chapter 256: Never Leaving You

“Rihannan?”

“No!”

Igor pulled Rihannan’s shoulders into his embrace. However, she was still completely filled with fear in her heart.

“So…So much blood…”

“Blood? There is no blood, you’ve only fainted and lost consciousness.”

Rihnannan shook her head fiercely. “No! I definitely saw it! I definitely saw blood flowing down between my legs after I’ve fallen down the stai…”

Only then Igor realized that she was confusing reality with her dream at this moment. Igor bit down on his lips for a moment, then took Rihannan’s hand and put it on her stomach.

“Feel it yourself. Your baby is still safe inside.”

Rihannan started to rub her own belly with Igor’s hand collapsed on top. Seeing as how she started to calm down a bit, Igor spoke, “However, the doctor had specified that you should still be careful. It would be better for you to be spending your days in bed for a while.”

Rihannan gazed vacantly at Igor for a while, when suddenly hot tears started to roll down her cheeks.

“This was all my fault.”

“It was not your fault that you had fallen down the stairs, but rather my carelessness. I should have made sure that mother couldn’t enter the room ahead of time… I had a lapse in judgement.”

“No, that’s not the problem.” Rihannan sobbed heavily. “In truth, I kept thinking that I do not need this child. Since I cannot take this child with me nor take care of the child as they grow up, I shouldn’t grow any attachment to them. I kept trying to not get attached to it the whole time while thinking that way. Even while thinking of it as a positive thing, I still thought of getting rid of the child while it’s still at an early stage. That’s why…”

Igor’s eyes became blackened right away. The fear and misfortune that she’s been feeling all this time had come from Igor himself. Because of him telling her to leave the child before leaving for Chrichton. Rihannan kept crying while still lying on bed. Igor was about to tell her to not cry any more since it wouldn’t be good for the child, but stopped himself. It felt like she would put the blame on herself even more if he did.

“Rihannan…”

Igor carefully stretched out his hand. He thought he would be denied in touching her, but instead Rihannan hurriedly grabbed his hand. She cried out while desperately holding onto Igor’s hand as if she was drowning in water.

“I’m so afraid. That I may lose my child just like then.”

“That will never happen. The doctor said it will be fine as well.” 

Igor wiped away the tears that ran down her cheeks.

“There was blood flowing endlessly in my dream, but there was nothing I could do so I tried to search for him. While hating and cursing you for not coming to me, I had woken up from the dream. Without even knowing the fact that you were in so much pain during that time you couldn’t come for me.”

“This time, I will be by your side the whole time.” Igor lowered his head and pressed his lips near Rihannan’s eye.”I will never leave you alone, so don’t worry and go to sleep.”

Rihannan slowly nodded. Her blue eyes wet with tears silently gazed at him for a moment. Igor’s gaze met with hers, and he softly stroked Rihanann’s hand that he was holding. Slowly, Rihanann’s eyes closed. Soon, after realizing that she had completely fallen sleep, Igor tried to carefully let go of her hand. He intended to let her keep sleeping in a more comfortable position, but even while completely asleep, Rihannan grasped firmly onto his hand.

Igor gave up on trying to let go of her hand and laid his own body onto the bed. He turned his face to meet with hers and gazed at her while hearing rhythmical breathing from her. He then closed his eyes and thought. Just what would he need to do for her from now on?
