Chapter 292: Epilogue (2)

Rihannan let out a deep sigh as she reminisced about the things that happened so far. Igor’s claim that he would treasure Maia more than anything else in the world was proven true by him the moment she was born. Not only did he personally bathed her, but would also be by her side until she slept at night whenever he had a chance to. Once Maia started to be able to lift her own head up, he even let her sit on his lap as he worked on his governmental duty. It was to the point where Rihannan had to steal her away from him, telling him not to monopolize her too much.

“But why do you keep calling him ‘that guy’ constantly? He has a name, you know. I. G. O. R.”

Hearing Rihannan’s complaint, Dimitris snorted out a laughter.

“I still don’t really like him all that much.”

“Just what is it that makes you not like him?”

“He forcibly took you from us in the first place after all. We would have still been hesitant to give you to them even if they brought all the gold and treasure as offer, yet he just simply took you as hostage.”

“Well, the circ*mstance was that…”

“Doesn’t matter what the circ*mstance was, I will never really accept him.”

Dimitris angrily complained, still burning his hatred to Igor brightly in his heart. It seemed like what happened back then had doused even more oil to the flames of hatred he had for Igor.

This was in reference to 6 years ago when Rihannan gave up on returning to Chrichton and return to Igor instead, which made Dimitris mad with rage. He had learned that Igor had come to the port personally, and took Rihannan back to the palace himself. He firmly believed that she had went back to the palace with Igor because he threatened her again with force in order to make sure she doesn’t leave his side.

Dimitris claimed that he had broken the promise that the monarch had set, and requested for him to return Rihannan back to Chrichton again but Igor instead declined that request completely. It seemed like the incident ended there, but a few months after that occured, one day Dimitris himself appeared in the royal palace of Arundel and once again the fierce battle took place between them. Dimitris was holding the doc*ment that had the King of Chrichton’s seal on it, creating a ruckus inside the Arundel Palace.

“I have the evidence that this marriage is null and void. King of Arundel, give back my sister now!”

At that time, Rihannan was on her last month of pregnancy. Hearing the news that Dimitris had arrived, she was so overjoyed that she pushed herself to move her heavy body and go to the reception. But what Rihannan saw once she had opened the door to the reception room was Igor and Dimitris in a fierce conflict against each other.

It felt like she was suddenly tossed into a wild savanna that contained savage predatory animals. Seeing the two of them growl at each other savagely, she put her hand on her forehead in annoyance. Even though she had sent multiple mails to Dimitris this whole time telling him that this was the choice she made herself and that Igor had never threatened her, but Dimitris didn’t believe any of it. Hea*sumed that she was once again sacrificing her own self for the good of the country or something like that. She was taken to Arundel in the first place because of that belief of hers.

“What do you mean, the marriage is null and void?…”

“Read it yourself.”

Igor savagely snatched the doc*ment that Dimitris offered to him. Reading the contents of the writing, his pupils started to shake. Rihannan immediately became extremely curious as to what the doc*ment had in writing. Just what was written on there that made him react that way?

“…”

After reading the whole doc*ment, Igor didn’t say anything. As he repeatedly bit his own lips, Dimitris had a smug expression on his face.

“Strictly speaking, Ria is not part of the Chrichton royal family. As Ria, who is not a part of the royal family, had married with the king of Arundel with the status of the royal family, this marriage is null and void through that technicality.”

Madam Sessly who was standing next to Rihannan gasped loudly in surprise. She then quickly dashed towards Igor as he dropped the doc*ment from his hand in shock, while Madam Sessly caught the doc*ment just in time before it fell onto the floor, and brought it to Rihannan to read.

Rihannan and Madam Sessly put their head next to each other as they both read down the contents of the doc*ment in a hurry. On it was the rule that stipulated the possible range of the royal family during the time of the establishment of Chrichton as a country. The family that is the direct line would go down to 5th descendents, while indirect lines will have only 3rd descendents recognised as part of the royal family. In the chaos that was occuring during the founding of the country of Chrichton, there was a redistribution of the titles and land for the nobles, and in this process it was their way to solve the problem just how far down the descendent line they were willing to admit as part of the royal family line.

However, that prestigious royal family had essentially died out afterwards. As the years passed, the range of royal family was centered around the order of royal family members in line for the throne, and Dimitris was one of those chosen to be so. Therefore it was obvious that Rihannan considered an indirect line of royal family. The problem was that according to the stipulation written during the founding of the country, the truth was that Dimitris and Rihannan was outside of the range of being part of the royal family. The confirmation for being the royal family reached only upto Marquiss Privious, who was the 3rd generation of the indirect royal family line.

According to the doc*ment, it confirmed the voidance of the marriage via the recognition of this stipulation. It also had written that it would take responsibility for what had happened and give adequate compensation to the Arundel King.

Rihannan and Madam Sessly stared at Dimitris with a completely aghast expression. He had a frighteningly strong tenacity. In his quest to bring back his sister no matter what, he brought out an ancient stipulation from it’s history and declared that this marriage was null and void.

“My goodness…”

Madam Sessly shook her head side to side.

“It’s the first time I saw someone with such tenaciousness in my life. He had essentially dug up a several hundred year old doc*ment rotten with mold to make his sister divorce! Now I understand why the crown prince of Chrichton had fallen so quickly. With tenacity like his, there’s nothing in the world that he can’t do.”

“Dima is just someone that’s usually quiet, but can do things like these when he puts his mind to put after all.”

“But in anycase, it will be a source of headache for his majesty for a while. It’s not like what Dimitris had claimed was false after all.”

Rihannan laid her hand on her stomach and let out a sigh. Recently, Igor had been putting effort into trying to improve the relationship between him and Dimitris. Once her baby was born, he planned to invite every member of Rihannan’s family members in Chrichton and serve them all very kindly to try and get rid of the hate between the two groups. But before he could carry that out, Dimitris had charged in head forward like this first.

Even as Rihannan and Madam Sessly talked back and forth about this, the two men still argued with coarse words and shouts. One side was aruging that the marriage was void in the first place so he will take Rihannan back to Chrichton, while the other was saying that this is all completely useless and that he should just leave the palace immediately. In Rihannan’s point of view, both of them were completely stubborn and had no answer to this problem. Just as she was about to move her heavy feet to move in and calm the two down as they still didn’t even realize that Rihannan had arrived, Rihannan suddenly felt a heavy pain in her stomach.

“Ah…”

As Rihannan suddenly stopped while clutching her stomach, Madam Sessly’s face became deathly pale.

“My queen?”

Rihannan shook her head side to side.

“It’s nothing, I think it’s just my stomach bunching up like usual before.”

They were already at the point in time where it wouldn’t be a surprise if she had given birth right now. The pain that she feels inside of her stomach had came to her before as well. Just as Rihannan was about to move again thinking that it was nothing…

“Ahhh!”

This time, there was a completely different sensation of pain in her stomach than before. It was so painful that a tear rolled out of her eye. Not only that, but something started to dribble down her legs.

“My queen, do you think you’re starting to have contractions?”

Madam Sessly hurriedly came to support Rihannan to stand up. She then saw that that Rihannan had her water break and it was running down her legs, which made her realize just how serious this situation was. Madam Sessly threw out all the grace and manners she was keeping up until now, and shouted out loudly, echoing all over the room.

“Your highness! Now is not the time be like this! The queen has…”

Hearing her shout, Igor and Dimitris both turned their head at the same time.

“Rihannan!”

“Ria!”

The two men stopped their fighting and hurriedly dashed over to Rihannan. Dimitris tried to hug Rihannan first and lift her up, but Igor shoulder pushed him out of the way and lifted up Rihannan instead. She was then carried right to the appropriate room in Igor’s arms. And 24 hours of pain later, she gave birth to Maia.

Reminescing about that moment, Rihannan laughed out loud.

“Madam Sessly told me this later that day. That it was funny seeing the two men who were baring their fangs and growling at each other just moments ago stand outside the delivery room both looking anxious and worried.”

Dimitris smirked and gave a short laugh.

“I didn’t know a single thing about women giving birth, so I thought something went wrong with you. I thought you were going to die.”

“Yeah, Igor thought the same as well. He must have been extremely surprised once he saw my water break.”

“Honestly, after you had given birth to your child, I knew that you would never come back to Chrichton again. I realized that you had truly loved him after all.”

Rihannan stopped her hands that was holding the towel wiping Dimitris’s chin and stared at him with surprised expression. It was because Dimitris had never once acknowledged Igor until now. Dimitris’s soft eyes turned to Rihannan and curved into a smile.
