Chapter 28
“What? You’re the class president?”
The first one to cry out in surprise was Wang Zibo. They had been friends since they were young. So which part of Chen Hansheng looked like a class president?
Gao Jialiang and the other students also didn’t believe it. Gao Jialiang even mocked Hansheng. “Chen Hansheng, you don’t even know how to flirt with women and only know to smoke and fight. How could others choose you to be the class president?”
Xiao Rongyu’s beautiful face blushed slightly. The person Gao Jialang was talking about was the Chen Hansheng of the past. The current Chen Hansheng definitely knew how to flirt with women.
When she remembered the number of flirtatious instances she had had with Chen Hansheng, her face flushed even redder. Still, she couldn’t believe that Chen Hansheng would be class president.
To be a university class president, one usually needed to have a campaign to gain the trust of both the professors and the classmates. Moreover, class presidents were also required to run many administrative and miscellaneous errands, and Chen Hansheng didn’t seem like the kind of person who would be able to sit still and work on Excel spreadsheets.
“Alright, alright. Zibo, how about you?” Nevertheless, Xiao Rongyu was not willing to let Gao Jialiang ridicule Chen Hansheng. So, she wanted to change the topic.
Chen Hansheng did not explain himself either as he smoked a cigarette and let Wang Zibo talk about his experiences at the Jianye University of Technology. Wang Zibo spoke with much detail, giving a comprehensive overview of the canteen, dormitory, campus, and so on. As such, everyone listened attentively.
“What a bunch of cute freshmen,” said a passing senior female student.
Chen Hansheng smiled and Xiao Rongyu saw Chen Hansheng’s eyes darting around, often lingering on the beautiful seniors passing by. She started to become a little unhappy.
While Xiao Rongyu’s attention was on Chen Hansheng, Gao Jialiang’s attention was on her. As he observed her, he found that she had lost a little weight and her skin was looking healthier from the new tan. She looked as charming as ever. There were many beautiful women in the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, but few could compare to Xiao Rongyu.
Once Wang Zibo had finished his speech, Gao Jialiang immediately prepared to speak. He already had a complete speech to describe his school as perfectly as possible, and then casually invite Xiao Rongyu over to have fun.
Gao Jialiang couldn’t wait to speak when he suddenly heard someone call out. “Chen Hansheng.”
The group of people turned around and realized that it was a short-haired girl who was walking over. She was average-looking and had a reckless look on her face.
Hu Linyu was about to go to the boys’ dormitory to discuss something with Chen Hansheng but saw him sitting on the grass by the lake with a group of university students.
She knew they were most likely his old high school classmates since she had just met hers.
“Chen Hansheng, the class will host a few activities once school officially starts. Do we need to gather everyone together to discuss how much the class fee will be?” asked Hu Linyu.
Hansheng’s friends from Port City were stunned, especially Gao Jialiang, who felt that something was not right.
Chen Hansheng shook his head. “It’s not appropriate to discuss it collectively. There will be too much chaos and disagreements, which will affect the unity of the class and the implementation of the matter. We will just set it at fifty yuan per person.”
“Isn’t fifty yuan a little too much?” Hu Linyu was a little hesitant.
“No, it’s just right. Here’s my share,” said Chen Hansheng as he took out a hundred yuan from his pocket and handed it to Hu Linyu.
“Sorry, I don’t have any change for you right now,” said Hu Linyu with a frown.
Chen Hansheng chuckled and said in a low voice, “Just take it as my and Shen Youchu’s share then.”
Hu Linyu looked at Chen Hansheng seriously and then glanced at Xiao Rongyu in the crowd. This girl’s beauty was still stunning even among their school’s beauty. “I just hope Class President doesn’t bite more than he can chew.”
After saying that, Hu Linyu took the money and left. Chen Hansheng looked at her back and muttered, “It’s none of your business.”
When he walked back to his group, everyone looked at Chen Hansheng differently.
“Hansheng, you really did become the class president,” said Wang Zibo in disbelief.
Gao Jialiang repeated what he had said earlier. “How can a person like you become the class president?”
Chen Hansheng grinned. “If you have a problem with it, fight me.”
Xiao Rongyu, on the other hand, seemed to be quite happy about it and took the initiative to treat him that night.
Hu Linyu was like a powerful sidekick – she helped the male lead, Chen Hansheng, uphold his reputation with his friends and simply disappeared after. This also disrupted Gao Jialiang’s rhythm.
Now that it had been confirmed Chen Hansheng was the class president, Gao Jialang was no longer in the mood to talk about his university life as he sourly said, “A class president only serves his own class. Being the president of the students’ union is the most important position. When I go back to my university, I plan to run for Student Union President.”
“What a coincidence. I also have the same idea.” Chen Hansheng also chimed in.
Everyone was more shocked by the latter’s claim. They were not used to the Chen Hansheng who had become so serious for no apparent reason.
During dinner that night, Wang Zibo pulled Chen Hansheng aside with a worried expression. “Hansheng, I thought you no longer liked Xiao Rongyu. But now it seemed like you’re only pursuing her even more seriously and obviously.”
Chen Hansheng’s eyes widened as he looked at his good friend. “We haven’t even drunk that much. Why are you already spouting nonsense?”
Wang Zibo was very unhappy. “How many years have we been friends? How can you hide your thoughts from me?”
“What thoughts do I have?” Chen Hansheng was also a little confused.
“You became the class president and now want to aim for the students’ union? Aren’t you just trying to attract Xiao Rongyu’s attention? Everyone knows that her grades are good, so naturally, she likes boys who are motivated!”
Wang Zibo’s tanned face shone with confidence. However, after he finished speaking, he noticed that Chen Hansheng was distracted as if he was looking for something.
“What are you looking for?”
“It’s nothing, just that if you continue speaking your mind, I might need a knife.”
“Why are you looking for a knife?”
“To chop you to death here. Who the f*ck told you such nonsense?”
When Wang Zibo heard that, he ran away without even eating. It was impossible for Chen Hansheng to chop people up, but at least Zibo felt frightened.
Once Wang Zibo had reached a safe distance away, he became bold again and thought, ‘Hansheng, I hope you soon realize what you’re getting yourself into. Don’t become the class or students’ union president just because of a girl when you know none of them suit you.’
…
Once he had sent everyone off, Chen Hansheng walked Xiao Rongyu back.
Chen Hansheng was unhappy the entire time. After all, no one liked to be wronged. However, Xiao Rongyu was very happy. She was smiling with joy. The dimples on both sides of her mouth were faintly visible which made many boys turn their heads several times because they were attracted.
“What an inexplicable woman.” Chen Hansheng shook his head and muttered.
Chen Hansheng stopped at the school gate with no intention of sending Xiao Rongyu back to the dormitory. He simply waved his hand and prepared to say goodbye.
“Hansheng.” Xiao Rongyu suddenly shouted.
“What’s the matter?” Chen Hansheng was getting a little impatient.
“I’m very happy that you’re willing to work so hard for me. Thank you, but you must take care of yourself.”
Xiao Rongyu became a little shy after saying that as she tiptoed lightly back to the school.
“F*ck!”
Chen Hansheng suddenly felt a severe tightness in his chest. He smoked a few cigarettes at the door before he recovered.
“I’m a scumbag. Why do you keep thinking I’m still so infatuated with you?!”
