Chapter 718: CC’s Goal

The Ascender Scroll was pretty much a circuit similar to an electronic circuit. For someone like Compass Carburettor who was well versed with electronic circuits—thanks to the Core Skill of Young Master—and formations from his time in the Cultivation World, not to mention erecting harmonious worlds using Reality Marble, creating a working circuit was like breathing to him.

Using the Ascender Scroll as a reference, Compass Carburettor grasped the basic working principle behind which the Ascender Scroll worked. Just that was enough for him to invent a variety of convenient Scrolls for his use.

“You can have it now.” Compass Carburettor extended his hand, causing the Ascender Scroll to appear there.

“You’ve already figured out its secrets?” Kowla was shocked as she grabbed the Ascender Scroll, somewhat hesitant before she placed it in her Dreamland, noticing that it was the same as before. Pilkan hadn’t tampered with it.

“Pretty much, it wasn’t that complex anyway.” Compass Carburettor nodded casually before closing his eyes, motioning for the father and daughter pair to leave the Captain’s Cabin, “Don’t disturb me until we reach the island where the eagles migrate towards this time of the year.”

“Yes, my Lord.” Duketace bowed in response before dragging Kowla with him, bowing in response before he exited the room.

The two then arrived at the deck as Duketace stared at the waves, gazing into the horizon for a good couple of minutes, breaking the silence eventually as he said, “So, what do you think now that you’ve seen some of his abilities?”

“Is he an Ascender?” Kowla asked, “I’m just getting a strange feeling from him.”

“What sort?” Duketace asked, wondering what his daughter thought, for she could perceive things better than him.

“It’s like he’s beyond what this world could handle, as if he’s descended from a higher dimension.” Kowla said, “I’m not sure how an Ascender feels like, but I feel like even an Ascender wouldn’t give an omniscient sensation like this.”

“I see…” Duketace nodded, thinking as he stared at the sea waves, saying after a few seconds had spanned past, “You wish…to become an Ascender, right?”

“Yes, more than anything.” Kowla nodded, “That’s why I didn’t hesitate to leave you behind back then. Are you mad about it, dad?”

“I was, but not anymore.” Duketace sighed, “It was a reality check when my entire family abandoned me so easily. It made me understand the strength of our bonds. So, I too wouldn’t place any value on it anymore. Instead, I’ll only focus on myself.”

“Then we’re on the same page.” Kowla said, staring at the calm figure of her dad, “What about mother and brother? Are you planning to find them too?”

“Lord Pilkan said that he’s interested in them. But,” Duketace shook his head, “He has no intentions to find them now. Both Sturrala and Fenn require time to develop the resources they had stolen.”

“Is the plan to steal everything they’ve developed? Revenge?” Kowla tilted her head, “Is that it?”

“It depends on Lord Pilkan’s orders.” Duketace spoke calmly, not sparing a hint of emotion towards the upcoming fate of his family, “I’ll just follow whatever he asks for.”

“So, what do you think he’ll do next?” Kowla asked, “Will he help us?”

“Of course,” Duketace nodded as a matter of fact, “He needs us to run errands for him. So, you can be assured that he’ll support us until the peak of the Invoker Stage.”

“I’ve seen our Clan’s Ascender, so I can say one thing with assurance.” Duketace said, “Lord Pilkan is way scarier. Remember that he’s a Human Invoker.”

Duketace then eyed the two sailors that were cleaning the deck. Among the remaining two, one was steering the ship while the other was working in the kitchen, preparing a sumptuous meal.

The trip would take them around a week to reach their destination. Thankfully in this season, strong winds and sea currents were taking them towards the vicinity of the island. So, sailing was pretty smooth.

Duketace and Kowla then began to train on the deck, working on strengthening themselves as from time to time, they rode their eagles to scout from a high altitude.

In the meantime, Compass Carburettor had forgotten about everything, solely focusing on the task at hand. The power system of this world was pretty interesting and had limitless potential once developed to a certain extent.

Moreover, unlike before, Compass Carburettor had a guarantee of being able to retain this power system. The reason was simple: Bullet Template.

By condensing the thoughts in a Mental Energy stream, he could create a Bullet Template. In that vein, the Dreamland was pretty much an offshoot of a Bullet Template.

So, the moment he regains his power, he could convert the Dreamland into a Bullet Template and retain everything. Currently, Compass Carburettor could have six Bullet Templates.

Among them, the Metal Mage’s Bullet Template was pretty low levelled. So, it could be replaced. The same was also true for Horan’s Bullet Template. This meant that he had two slots, two vacancies for any power system of his liking.

He needn’t even create another Main Character for this. Compass Carburettor didn’t have any plans of creating a Main Character in this world.

First of all, it wasn’t as easy. The power of Lore had to take effect. Moreover, there should be enough resources for the birth of one, namely: Fate, Luck, Chaos, and Opportunities.

The Relic was just created recently. Due to that, Compass Carburettor’s Luck, Fate and everything else had been shaved off pretty hard. So, it wasn’t even possible for him to create another one, not that he planned to make one in the first place.

After all, even though the power system of this world was pretty unique, there weren’t enough benefits laying here for the Main Character to wield. It was because of a simple reason. Most of what this power system was capable of could easily be replicated by Hazen, at a superior level in fact.

So, there was no benefit in doing so. After all, even if he were to create a Main Character in this world, his/her powers would clash with Hazen’s. And considering Hazen’s character, it was a perfect recipe for disaster, one that would result in a Main Character face-off.

After all, in terms of sheer power, among all the Main Characters, Compass Carburettor was in the lead. In terms of sheer versatility, the Relic trumped all. But in terms of sheer terror, Hazen was unmatched.
