Chapter 739: I’ll Conjure Myself
“My Lord!” Duketace shouted in worry, hurriedly taking out medicine from his bag that he fed to Compass Carburettor.
“I’ll be fine, somehow…” Compass Carburettor muttered, gasping for breath as his head spun. There was a tinge of regret in his mind. The reason stemmed from the fact that he hadn’t been like the Main Character recently, only spurred by selfish interests for selfish motives, akin to a slightly smarter thug.
And that was why, his actions weren’t perfect. Not only were his initial actions influenced by Pilkan’s brain, but his follow-up plans too weren’t perfect. Except for the Forbidden Tale, he hadn’t done anything main-character worthy.
‘Am I failing as the Main Character…’ The thought flashed in his mind when immediately, starlight burst out of the Invoked Spirit and gushed into him. At the same time, everyone influenced by the Forbidden Tale became dazed for a second as their brains whirred at top speeds, unleashing a dense Mental Energy stream each that slammed into Pilkan.
Compass Carburettor’s thoughts cleared up, as the contents of the Mental Energy stream consisted of his original nature transmitted through the Main Character System.
His chaotic thoughts dissipated as his eyes gradually turned sharp. His lips curled up to reveal a wry smile as he muttered, “Main Character…?”
“Since when did I worry about being that?” He chuckled.
The fragment driving Pilkan currently was only a tiny fragment of the Main Character System that had influenced Pilkan. Therefore, it didn’t have a strong self of Compass Carburettor in it, not firm enough to stick to his beliefs.
That was why the moment his actions didn’t correlate to being the Main Character, or the change in the fate of the world, with Pilkan losing his protagonist status, he was worried.
“But that’s unnecessary.” Taking in a deep breath, Compass Carburettor stared at the figures of Duketace and Kowla staring at him in silence, with starlight streaming out of their eyes. They were currently being controlled by the Main Character System fragments in their minds. “I’ve never cared about that.”
“I’m the Main Character,” He said, clenching his hand into a fist, “And whatever I do becomes the Main Character’s trait.”
Mental Fragments streamed out of his Dreamland and swerved to his legs, attaching themselves to the injured portion as they began to grow out, soon forming a leg.
Using the Mental Fragments possessing content regarding legs, Compass Carburettor built artificial legs for himself, focusing on the injured portion as he blocked the bleeding nerves with Mental Fragments, wholly sealing them up.
With that, he didn’t have to worry about any problems, for the time being, sighing as he watched the toes move as intended. It was hard, for he wasn’t controlling the toes like before but manipulating the Mental Fragments of the intended locations to manually rearrange them.
So, this movement was brought about by that, a rather complex endeavour to do.
The moment his two artificial legs were created successfully, Compass Carburettor stared at his hands, frowning in thought as his lips revealed a mildly maniacal smile, “I see, so this is the fastest way to master this power system.”
“Gah!” He roared in pain as his Invoked Spirit severed both his hands too, causing them to bleed. He forced himself to stay awake and quickly built a set of artificial hands too using Mental Fragments.
They were similar to the tools a Human Invoker creates, but were complex, for they had to exhibit all the functions of a regular pair of hands.
Compass Carburettor dumped the two hands into the sea before he pointed at Duketace and Kowla.
Kowla took out the Senses Scroll from her Dreamland while Duketace brought out the Human Invoker Crystal Scroll and the Suppression Scroll.
Compass Carburettor first inspected the Senses Scroll, eyes lighting up in inspiration as he fully understood its mechanics. Following that, he looked through the other two Scrolls, taking them into the Dreamland as Compass Carburettor created a Human Invoker Crystal.
It was only an Inferior Grade. He smiled, causing the submarine to move into the portion of the sea where sunlight reached as he shot the Human Invoker Crystal into the mouth of a shark nearby, watching it melt in a matter of seconds before suddenly, the shark stopped swimming, in a daze.
‘I see, so all creatures can become Invokers.’ He thought, ‘I guess it’s time to meet the rest of their family.’
He snapped his finger, watching Duketace and Kowla regain their senses as they hurried to nurse him. Only then did Duketace notice the artificial limbs that were supporting Compass Carburettor now, “My Lord, this is…?”
“Something I made.” Compass Carburettor didn’t state much on the topic.
Duketace noticed how there was no blood leakage in the place where the flesh met with the artificial construct. Moreover, he observed that the remaining fleshy portion of his limbs was still functioning, displaying no problems whatsoever.
They surprised him, ‘Lord Pilkan’s understanding of the human body has reached a staggering level.’
“I still need some time to get used to this. So, I want the two of you to take care of me in the meantime.” Compass Carburettor said, having already returned the three scrolls before the father and daughter duo regained their senses.
“Please leave it to us,” Duketace said, watching the submarine surface and transform into a large boat.
Compass Carburettor’s Invoked Spirit vanished after that as he was tired to row it anymore, exhausted mentally.
Duketace summoned his Invoked Spirit, carrying Compass Carburettor to its back as he was seated comfortably. Once Kowla climbed too, Compass Carburettor retracted the boat into his Dreamland, watching the eagle take flight.
“Let’s rest in the safety of a village on the shore, my Lord,” Duketace said, watching Pilkan nod in response before falling unconscious.
But before he lost consciousness, Compass Carburettor had already decided on his upcoming plan upon seeing that his limbs were still functional, ‘It seems that by using these Mental Fragments, I’ll be able to evolve past my current limit.’
‘I’ll gradually swap out this fleshy body with its Mental Fragment counterpart before eventually transforming into a living breathing entity wholly created using Mental Fragments.’ He closed his eyes, surer of his plan now, ‘I’ll conjure myself.’
