C33 – Ninth Layer of Acquired
Physicians, alchemists, and technomancers.
For the average person, mastering just one of these disciplines could take years of rigorous training to reach the introductory first layer. Attempting to learn all three could mean not even reaching the first layer after a decade, or perhaps only just scraping that level in a lifetime.
For Zhou Jibo, a mere two thousand attribute points were all it took to fully grasp these fields of knowledge, with the option to invest more points to enhance these auxiliary skills even further.
Reflecting on this, Zhou Jibo marveled at the sheer potency of the system’s attribute points.
With enough points at his disposal, he could defy the natural order, achieving feats once deemed impossible!
He invested more attribute points into Xu’s Medical Book. Deducting six hundred points, he ascended to the second layer of the text.
Next, he allocated points to alchemy. With two thousand points subtracted, he reached the second layer of alchemical mastery.
He did the same for forging, and upon the deduction of another two thousand points, he attained the second layer in that discipline as well.
A flood of insights on healing, alchemy, and forging filled Zhou Jibo’s mind, leaving him slightly overwhelmed.
Elevating Xu’s Medical Book to the second layer meant Zhou Jibo’s expertise now extended beyond treating simple injuries and common ailments to tackling tuberculosis and chronic diseases.
Having advanced alchemy to the second layer, he was ready to start pill refinement, confident in his ability to produce first-grade pills and, with further practice, potentially even second-grade ones.
By raising forging to the second layer, he was assured enough spirit steel to craft low-grade Yellow Rank weapons, though he was not quite certain he could forge medium-grade ones.
Now capable of refining first-grade pills and forging low-grade Yellow Rank weapons, Zhou Jibo found the sensation quite extraordinary. He wished to allocate more points to alchemy and forging, but his attribute points were running low. His only option was to continue investing in the less prestigious Xu’s Medical Book.
Xu’s Medical Book’s third layer: Enhanced Detoxification.
The fourth layer of Xu’s Medical Book covers treating illnesses, detoxifying, and addressing plagues.
Zhou Jibo found himself with scarcely any attribute points remaining, rendering him unable to further enhance the Xu’s Medical Book.
They had been lingering outside the city for quite some time, spending many days hidden in this forest, quietly gathering intelligence on the Zheng family’s plight.
The family head, the Elder, and other senior members had all been slain by the Zhou family. Those who resisted the Zhou family were largely killed, and Zheng Linghan, once a servant, had risen to become the new head of the Zheng family.
Every incident within the Zheng family fueled their animosity towards Zhou Jibo. They were itching to storm the Zhou residence and eradicate every last one of them.
Zheng Xunqin, clad in her form-fitting warrior’s garb, seemed lost in thought.
These past days, the core belief that had anchored her was wavering: She considered herself a valiant woman among her peers, having covertly manipulated many in the Zhou family and deceived Zhou Jibo, who possessed an Earth Spirit bone root.
She harbored no regrets for exploiting Zhou Jibo’s profound affection for her, even going so far as to remove his bone root.
She was convinced that despite her medium-grade bone root, her mental fortitude was second to none. She was merely one opportunity away from greatness. If only she could gain entry to the Shrine of Astral Radiance, she would soar like a phoenix in flight.
But what of Zhou Jibo now? How had he quelled the Zhou family’s internal discord, slain a ninth-layer Acquired Warrior, and repelled an Innate master, nearly obliterating the Zheng family in the process?
How strong and exceptional could he possibly be? How had I not sensed even the slightest hint before?
Was he truly the one I had deceived? Could I actually measure up to him?
These thoughts swirled uncertainly in her mind, but her gaze slowly hardened with resolve: I am not mistaken! This is all merely temporary!
Once the envoy from the Shrine of Astral Radiance arrives, all of Zhou Jibo’s actions will prove to be mere illusions.
She clung to this belief with unwavering conviction.
Day in and day out, Zhou Jibo diligently practiced the Six Yin Heart Technique. Once he reached his limits, he would switch to refining his skills with the Mountain Suppressing Palm or the Cool Breeze Bright Moon Sword Technique, or he would revisit his knowledge of medicine, alchemy, and forging as a way to unwind.
Over ten days passed, and he finally achieved a breakthrough, reaching the ninth layer of the Acquired Stage.
