Felix followed Landers towards the mayor's house... actually it was his house and this was the first time he would see it from the inside as he didn't really have the time nor did he want to go inside after he got the news, he wasn't really that interested in it.
But now that he saw it, it looked to be rather cozy, after he entered it with Landers he realized that it was rather spacious as it could hold the 1,000 people from the logistics team and still have enough space for another batch of the same number.
Landers appeared with Felix in tow as he took a look over all of the 1,000 people.
He scanned their expressions to see if any of them was antsy or distracted by something.
If they were true blue-blooded patriots they would act strangely after they had betrayed their tribe, he knew most of these people since they were cubs but he would have never thought that one of them would betray the tribe.
Felix sat in the shadows, he didn't need to do anything yet as there were no reactions yet but the moment someone acted strangely he would work in tandem with Landers to catch him!
Landers stopped looking around as he went to the subject:
"I'm sad to say this but there is a traitor among us!"
This shocked all of the 1,000 people and some of them even started to act up.
It was normal considering there was a traitor that could act up in this situation.
Who knew if he was going to suddenly attack one of the people around him when he was caught just to take some people down with him?
They all wanted to distance themselves from each other but Landers amplified his aura as he projected it on them making them unable to move at all.
"Now Felix come!"
Felix jumped out of the shadows as he dragged out the few people who freaked out the worst.
They were all recruits so even though a normal spy would have been able to control his emotions these people were easy to read.
Felix dragged along 20 people who were the most suspicious as Landers went to work on them directly in the face of the other 980 people, if the spy could control himself so well that he wasn't one of those 20 people Landers's torture would put pressure on him, it wasn't an outsider that was the spy so there was a very high chance he would capitulate if he saw what would happen to him.
Landers's work was quite fast and efficient, he first started with the normal psychological torture, and all 10 of the people that were under him started to talk as if they were canaries, it was obvious that none of them was the spy as Landers could easily see if they lied or not.
If they lied that meant they had something to hide and normally that wouldn't happen in front of a superior like Landers.
In the army, you couldn't say yes or no, only yes!
If your superior commander told you to eat dirt you would eat dirt!
In this situation, these innocent people were under mental pressure from Landers, all they could say was the truth. It seemed that while they didn't know anything about the traitor they did have some inside information from the logistics team which pointed to one person acting suspiciously these days!
This person wasn't from the 20 that were captured but he was in the crowd slowly making his way outside the house only for Felix to appear near him and kick him in the stomach with his hind legs.
He didn't go directly to torture the people Landers assigned to him, even though he wanted to get over his trauma it was easier said than done.
However, he kept his eyes peeled to any person in the crowd who tried to escape.
The moment he saw one person trying to move away from the frozen crowd he knew that he was guilty of something.
His hind leg attack pushed him through the crowd until he was in front of Landers.
"Hmm?"
Landers grabbed him by the wrist as he pulled him up as if he was a child that did something wrong.
The person was rather short for a Lion standing only around 1,65 meters, he had a freckled face and brown eyes with a small mane of blonde hair.
He wore the logistics uniform which consisted of the normally issued armor of the army with a symbol of the logistics department which was two crossed lines one horizontally and one vertically.
He had a regular face that was easy to forget so even Landers forgot his name but he thought for a few seconds before he said:
"Wait for a little, I remember you, you are Madgar's son, Peripo!"
At the mention of his father, Peripo glared at Landers and said:
"You shouldn't have the gall to call my father's name after what you have done to him, how well he took care of you and you... you!"
Landers cocked his head to the side and said:
"Your father was discharged from the army and thrown out of the tribe after he grew too old, it's standard procedure for all male lions."
Peripo gritted his teeth as he looked directly into Landers's eyes and said:
"For such a veteran decorated with so many awards couldn't there an exception be made? You all threw him aside the moment he wasn't useful anymore like he was a weapon, he was a person just like you and me, how could the tribe throw him away when he was supposed to be treated like a hero?"
Landers sighed as he realized that they had found their traitor.
There was a chance he didn't even get any contact with the enemies and he did everything just as revenge for his father but Landers still decided to interrogate him.
Felix watched while keeping his gaze steady and not losing his composure, he was trying to build up his resistance to this type of stuff.
And after finishing the interrogation it was just like as Landers thought, there wasn't actually any connection between Peripo and the mole tribe, their connection was intercepted by the mole tribe only because the communication stone he was using was tampered with and it leaked the communication logs.
No matter, it was good that it wasn't a stronger traitor or traitor that could actually do something besides leaking some communication logs but what Peripo said made Landers a little bit thoughtful.
It was an ancient law that the males would be cast out of the tribe once they became too old and left to fend for themselves regardless of what they did. This had happened since before they gained intelligence and it remained in their blood.
However Landers did know this was a rather barbaric practice, they weren't that backward savage anymore.
He took a look at Peripo's mangled body, because of his doing he had got capital punishment and was killed after the torture, the other people who were captured and tortured would be compensated and discharged from the army to live a good life back at the tribe, this was a mistake on Landers's part and he would pay for it.
However, the ones that were under Felix didn't want to take the compensation nor discharge, of course, the ones that got tortured wanted something but naturally, tigers didn't like to dilly dally and they joined the army for a reason.
Since they didn't want the compensation Landers didn't insist and told them they could go back to their posts.
Landers looked at Felix and gave him a thumbs-up as he said:
"You have done another great job, I saw that you still couldn't bear to torture those that went under you but because of that you had been able to catch Peripo, I guess that sometimes you need to think differently."
Felix shook his head as he said:
"No I'm actually quite disappointed with myself but I can only aim to improve from here, I could have caught him even if I was torturing them but anyways I think we are done here right?"
Landers nodded:
"You can go do whatever you want."
Suddenly a trumpet was heard outside with the hearty voice of general Diorno that Felix could recognize anywhere:
"Reinforcements have arrived!"
It seemed the reinforcements had finally arrived as Landers and Felix left the mayor's house to look outside.
400,000 troops were lined outside the walls of the village in the head standing Diorno and near him Catro!
Diorno laughed as the gates opened and invited him along with the army inside the village.
Suddenly his eyes narrowed as he looked at Lindo and Manitola who were slowly approaching the gates from afar, it seemed that Diorno wasn't really happy to see his son with that woman.
