After walking and running and spending time together, we started to see parts of the mountain.
“Ooh, so this is where the country of the dwarves is.”
A mountain where dwarves live. There’s supposedly a country at the foothills of it, but…
“Where could it be?”
Looking from afar, it doesn’t seem to be anywhere.
“Let’s just go around the foothill for now.”
I can’t think of anything better to do.
“Also, Ril. When we enter the country, could you turn back into a wolf?”
“Sure, but why?”
“Because you don’t have a card, do you?”
To prove your identity when entering a country, it’s most common to use your card.
In Ril’s case, while she would get stopped at the gate in her human form, she could pass in her wolf form as my familiar.
“And that’s why I want you to be in your wolf form.”
“I’ll lift the shapeshifting then.”
“Yeah, thanks.”
After reversing the technique and turning into the small wolf I first met her as, we were walking to find a hint of civilization, when we saw a line of people.
“Excuse me. Is this the immigration gate?”
I asked the person standing at the end of the line.
“That’s right. Is this perhaps your first time here in Fall Crown?”
“Yes. I was thinking of selling some materials from monsters and to have some clothes made as well.”
“Oh, I see. I think you’ve come to the right place then.”
Like this my discussion went, with a merchant named Mark.
He informed me of a lot of things, saying that he didn’t have anything better to do while waiting in line anyway.
He noted that this country was actually made by expanding the mines that were dug into the mountain.
No wonder I couldn’t see anything from the outside…
By the way, Ril was sleeping in my arms because she kept on complaining that she was bored, so I carried her in my arms to make her mood better.
And like that our turn came in line.
“Well then, let’s meet inside the country again.”
“Yes, see you later.”
We went to our separate booths.
”What will be your business today?”
”I came here to sell materials.”
“Trading of materials, understood. Are you registered to the merchants’ guild?”
“No, I’m not, so I was thinking of selling at the adventurers’ guild.”
“Understood. What are the materials?”
“I don’t plan to sell all of it, but mostly monsters’ hide.”
“Monsters’ hide, understood. May I take a look?”
“Yes, here you go.”
I gave her the bag of materials, not worried about theft. I could just use a little violence if it comes to that after all.
However, after taking a look at the contents of the bag, she said “excuse me” and went somewhere quickly.
Not understanding what was going on, I waited, when a different person showed up.
“Hello, I’m an officer here, could I talk with you briefly?”
What? What’s an officer doing here?
“So what could it be?”
“You came here to sell hide, is that right?”
“Yes.”
“And I heard that you would sell it at the adventurers’ guild?”
“Yes. Though not all of it.”
“What do you plan to use the rest for?”
“To have my own clothes made.”
Then, the officer looked to be contemplating something, and said, “Please come this way.”
Ril and I followed to the office, where there were two other people.
Did we hunt something we shouldn’t have?
“Please, take a seat.”
“Oh, thanks.”
I’m going to be alright, right?
“Actually, the reason we stopped you here today was to discuss if the country could buy this hide.”
Huh, sell to the country?!
“Everything is of high quality, and the higher-ups have said that they would like to buy it.”
…Wow… But I was actually thinking of selling it after having the craftsman mentioned to me take a look at it.
“Is it no good?”
“No, I don’t mind selling it, but it would be great if I could meet a craftsman from here before I do.”
“And who might that craftsman be?”
“A man named Dwar Crown. I heard he’s skilled.”
When I mentioned his name, everyone around me froze.
“Did you say Dwar Crown?”
What is this atmosphere? Is he a wanted criminal or something?
“Um, I just heard about him from this old man I know, so I don’t actually know much about him…”
The officer took another look at my bag, sighed, and said, “Dwar Crown is the king of this country.”
…Seriously???…
