I was finally able to enter the country,

Are materials from the Great Forest that rare though?

There were some weaklings that even I was able to hunt by myself.

“It took you a while, didn’t it, Ryu?”

“Mark, you were waiting for me this whole time?”

Crap, I was under the impression that he went on ahead.

“Was there some sort of problem? This place is pretty strict with entry as many different people come here, but I was worried because you were taking so long.”

“Sorry about that. The checking of materials took a little while.”

“I see, you did mention you wanted to sell monster hide, didn’t you.”

“Yeah, also, I was wondering but could you tell me where the adventurers’ guild is?”

“Of course. I’m also interested in what you’re going to sell.”

“I’ll give you some of those materials as thanks then.”

""

“Oh no, I’m only guiding you, nothing much. As a [Merchant], it’s my job to find my own rewards.

Oh, he’s really a nice person. It’s nice that the first person I’ve had a conversation with in a while is kind.

“Well then, follow me this way.”

Mark guides me to the adventurers’ guild.

“Alright, we’re here.”

“Wh, wait already??”

It’s waaay closer than I imagined.

“It was built close to the entrance so that it’s easy to report to the guild.”

Mark says, trying to hold his laugh in.

Oh, I didn’t know that. I’m pretty embarrassed now…

The guild building is really grande. The walls seem to have been made fully from rock, and there’s a huge symbol of the guild out front.

“Ryu, are we exchanging it into money here?”

“Yeah, we’re going to trade our hide for money.”

“I’ll go take a look!”

“Hey! Wait!”

Ril leaped out of my hands and went straight into the guild.

“You too, Ryu, wait for me!”

Mark runs after us.

As we enter, I notice that it’s a bit empty inside, with not many people.

“Everyone’s out on their quests around noon. They’ll be back by evening.”

So everyone’s busy at work right now.

More importantly, where’s Ril… Oh, she’s sitting right next to me, perhaps shocked at the number of people inside.

“Hey, don’t go running off by yourself.”

I pick her up gently and caress her. I know this is your first time, but relax for a moment…

“Ryu. There are this many humans?”

“Even this is on the lower side.”

“…Whoa.”

She still looks shocked. She’s so cute~.

“Ryu, you can sell things over here.”

Mark beckons for me.

There were multiple reception desks.

One of them is the general reception, where people like me who aren’t guild members can ask for their request to be put up.

Another is the adventurers’ reception, where adventurers report on their quests.

The third and last one is the purchasing reception, where you can sell items to the guild, unrelated to quests.

That means I’ll be using the third one today.

“Hello, welcome to the Fall Crown branch. What are you here for today?”

“I would like to sell these materials.”

Now that I think about it though, I’m supposed to sell some of these to the country, aren’t I. I guess I’ll just sell a cheap one here.

I brought out the hide of a giant boar.

They’re huge boars that grow to up to 8 meters in length, but it’s relatively small compared to other monsters, so it shouldn’t be a problem.

“I’ll sell this.”

“Uh, o, one second please.”

Huh? I’ve been left to wait again. Giant boars are just big boars, no?

“Ryu! Where in the world did you get that?!”

“What do you mean where, it’s just boar hide.”

“Just?! Giant boars are A-ranked monsters! You can’t compare them to other boars!”

I guess living in the Great Forest messed up my perception of things. To think something like a giant boar would be so feared…

“How much would that one hide get me?”

Mark sinks into a deep think.

“I would guess around 50-60 gold coins.”

50-60! That’s enough to stop working for a while and party! From that boar???

“Sorry for keeping you waiting! Would 62 gold coins for the hide of one giant boar be alright?”

62! That’s even higher than Mark’s guess!

“Th, that’s alright.”

“Thank you. Here is 62 gold, please confirm.”

There on the table I saw 6 stacks of 10 gold coins and 2 extra coins. I’ve never seen so much money before.

“Yes, I’ve confirmed the exact amount.”

“Thank you, we hope to see you again.”

I obtained a huge fortune in a way I didn’t think I would.

“Let’s go eat something good quick!”

“Alright alright, just relax. Oh right, Mark, would you like to join us? It’ll be my treat.”

“Oh, thank you. I’ll take you up on your offer then.”

I’ve got money now, so I think I can just focus on my meeting with the king tomorrow?

Money in this world:

Bronze coin – $1

Silver coin – $10

Gold coin – $100

Great gold coin – $10000

TL note: This means that the great boar sold for $6200. Also, the original compared the coins to Japanese Yen, which I converted into USD with a rate of $1:¥100 for simplicity, though right now it is around ¥135.
