Chapter 1.2 – Unemployed After Graduation
You Qiuqiu knew that Li Ge was doing this for her own sake, but she still fervently shook her head like a drum.
Sorry, but she doesn’t think she has those kinds of talents.
In fact, You Qiuqiu hadn’t considered performing with a monkey because one time, Li Ge’s monkey jumped onto her head. After that, You Qiuqiu decisively crossed out the work of playing with monkeys from her career chart.
You Qiuqiu feels that she’ll be unemployed soon after graduation. It’s merely the author who was forcing her to change her career. Although, they might be too lazy to deal with a side character like her.
After all, in this novel, she has no name.
Yes, You Qiuqiu lives in a novel.
In fact, she could be regarded as a clichéd character. She has both parents and a happy family. She went to acting school, and everything in her life went smoothly. Then, You Qiuqiu realized that she lived in a novel after a dream she had in her sophomore year. She dreamed that the world she lived in was actually a novel.
It was a typical ‘cool article in the entertainment industry’ with a female protagonist. The female protagonist meets the God, slays them, then meets the Buddhas and slays them too.
Frankly, You Qiuqiu was a little tired in her dreams.
Back then, she didn’t think her situation was dire. She vaguely recalls dreaming that in the novel, the heroine ended up working with several popular actors in her reality. With that knowledge, You Qiuqiu felt that she’d be able to integrate reality with her own situation.
Then, she saw the heroine on TV.
The heroine was basically an enigma; a dream-like trajectory. A being that leaps into the revolutionary.
You Qiuqiu was sure that she really was in a novel. Other people are either the heroine or the girlfriend. No matter how awful they were…but she’s just cannon fodder. In the book, she didn’t even have a name.
Pete had said that she couldn’t support herself. That wasn’t true. She didn’t fight because the plot overpowered everything. Even if You Qiuqiu tried to fight back, she wouldn’t get any results and would be still magically cut off.
So, does she make any difference?
Pete said Mo Lan is a five-star tier company, but You Qiuqiu has no memory of Mo Lan hitting it big, although it is indeed a much better company than hers.
You Qiuqiu, remained silent.
If others knew that she was just a passerby in a novel, they’d ignore her most likely. You Qiuqiu has a big heart, and worrying about these things is useless for her… but, she can’t help but be distressed. She loves this company because it has five social insurances and one housing fund. She does nothing, and has a basic salary of 3,000 yuan every month.
That’s all gone now.
“Li Ge, I’m going to get some fresh air.”
You Qiuqiu broke away from her contemplations, as she pointed towards the door.
There was sympathy in Li Ge’s eyes, “Go ahead.” Looking at the child’s suffocating expression, it was better to let her breathe well outside.
Li Ge felt that You Qiuqiu’s mind was stable for as long as he has known her, but he wasn’t able to figure out You Qiuqiu’s character.
…
You Qiuqiu stood in the corridor. It was quiet, with no people. You Qiuqiu hasn’t thought of how to get reemployed with her current situation. Most likely, she will go to other entertainment companies to try her luck. She doesn’t know if anyone would be willing to accept her.
If worst comes to worst…
You Qiuqiu took out a small handful of melon seeds. A cracking sound could be heard from her.
The crunchy sound of eaten melon seeds was added to the quiet corridor.
Li Ge was right, You Qiuqiu is a very calm mind.
You Qiuqiu cracked the melon seeds for a while until she heard the sound of leather shoes stepping on the tiled floor. When someone came, she wasn’t really curious, but she looked up anyway.
The man that was walking was very tall. It was about 1.9 meters, and when he gradually approached You Qiuqiu. You Qiuqiu could see him clearly.
He had handsome looks, with gold-rimmed glasses on the bridge of his nose, while dressed in a Western-style suit and leather shoes. He was full of an elite style.
‘Oh, don’t I recognize them,’ You Qiuqiu thought.
She continued looking down, cracking the melon seeds between her teeth.
Then he stopped in front of her, and his silhouette engulfing her.
You Qiuqiu was quite confused.
She wondered: was she blocking his way? Although You Qiuqiu was sure that the corridor was wide enough. There’d be nothing wrong with two people walking in here, but she still moved two steps to give way to the man. But he followed her by two steps. You Qiuqiu moved two steps toward the other side, and he followed her.
Two people could always fit next to each other.
You Qiuqiu was silent…
What’s going on Oh Big Brother?
You Qiuqiu decided to simply press against the wall and lean back to give the man a way out. She also made a ‘go ahead’ gesture. Now there’s no way we can keep mirroring each other, right?
He didn’t leave. Instead, he looked at her and opened his mouth.
“Are you You Qiuqiu?” he asked, in a confident tone.
This whole time, You Qiuqiu still continued to send the melon seeds to her lips, but when the stranger called out her name correctly, she hesitated. Should she put it down? Instead, she placed the seed holding hand behind her back.
“Are you a fan?”
She glanced at the well-dressed man suspiciously with a little joy and tried to match her expression towards the person in front of her.
Oddly enough, You Quiqui has fans. If she knew this, she wouldn’t dare to eat melon seeds. She wasn’t famous enough to be an idol, and she wasn’t sure if she’d broken her fan’s filter.
Before she could even know, her dream was ruthlessly shattered.
Sheng Shiyun looked at her blankly. “No, I’m your boss.”
“Oh,” You Qiuqiu said. Obviously, he wasn’t a fan. She was thinking nonsense.
