“Su Qingxing, who the hell are you?” Bai Hua stared at Su Qingxing with an ugly face, but his eyes did not dare to look at Su Qingxing’s side, and neither did he dare to gaze at the two pale, cold corpses that had obviously been left alone in the warehouse for a long time.

But Su Qingxing did not answer Bai Hua’s question, he only slowly raised his hand, and the blue paper lamp that was hovering in mid-air circled around before slowly returning to the top of Su Qingxing’s hand, emitting a faint blue light.

“This is a blue lantern.” Su Qingxing nodded to Qin Guan and Mu Rong, who were also amazed, before continuing, “This is the thing that made us see this warehouse.”

“It’s an illusion.” Bai Hua turned his head sideways, still not looking directly at his corpse.

“No, it’s real.” Su Qingxing did not step on the blood sacrifice spell, instead choosing to stand at the edge, looking at the two corpses, “Brother Bai, how long do you think these two corpses have been lying here?”

Su Qingxing felt that he was still awfully sleep-deprived. When he had first woken up a while back, he clearly had the feeling that he had slept well, but now he was having the urge to yawn again. It was only because he was standing in front of two corpses that Su Qingxing tried to restrain himself.

The most basic respect must be shown to the deceased.

But this repeated drowsiness had a small effect on Su Qingxing, and that effect was that …… his patience was slightly weakened.

SiSi, who was lying in Su Qingxing’s arms in the form of a little snow wolf – no wait, he was actually our wise and powerful God of Death – was also looking at his betrothed with some concern.

The previous Su Qingxing was in a blurred state of consciousness, his state was similar to that of a battery that had run out of power and had to be temporarily turned off for a few minutes to recharge.

The current Su Qingxing, who had only charged up for a few minutes before starting up, would naturally have some instability, so Shen Si shared Su Qingxing’s hope that this time it would be over as soon as possible.

“This warehouse should be very remote, it is concealed enough for someone who wants to perform some evil blood rituals.” With a twist of his wrist, Su Qingxing let the light blue paper lamp continue to float into mid-air, “But it also means that if someone dies here, no one might even find you until the corpse rots.” Su Qingxing said this to Bai Hua in a rare and slightly derisive manner, “Student Bai, can you imagine what condition a neat and tidy teenager like you would be in by the time somebody finds your and Zhu Ting’s corpses on the warehouse floor?”

Bai Hua’s entire body trembled, and for a moment he really wanted to roll his eyes and faint, but he didn’t succeed in doing so, and could thus only maintain a state of near collapse, muttering, “You’re lying to me, my blood sacrifice has obviously succeeded and I’ve been reborn in this world, so there can’t be any corpses of mine left in the warehouse at all! The only one who really died was that unlucky ghost in the back! Brother wouldn’t lie to me, brother wouldn’t lie to me, brother wouldn’t lie to me, brother wouldn’t lie to me, brother wouldn’t lie to me, brother wouldn’t lie to me ……”

Brother?

Su Qingxing remembered that this was the second time Bai Hua had mentioned his brother. Su Qingxing vaguely remembered that Bai Hua had mentioned that his brother was somebody with a very gentle and comforting demeanor.

However, from Bai Hua’s murmuring now, Su Qing Xing heard something that felt not quite right.

Could it be that …… it was Bai Hua’s brother who had asked him to perform the blood sacrifice?

After pondering for a while, Su Qingxing decided to put this small detail behind him. After all, his identity was that of a ghost city guide, not a detective.

“Don’t worry, even if this warehouse is out of the way, someone will find you soon.” Su Qingxing smoothed the fur of Si Si in his arms. The little snow wolf raised his head high and looked very comfortable, especially when he tickled his butt.

As soon as Su Qingxing’s words fell, the blue lamp in mid-air began to rotate once again, and the scene around all of them changed once again.

Although they were still in the dilapidated and dusty warehouse, there were many more noises in the warehouse that hadn’t existed before. Now, many figures could be seen walking around Su Qingxing and the others!

Most of those figures were uniformed police officers, each with their own job to do and somewhat too busy to stop.

The two corpses in the blood sacrifice spell were gone at the moment, and only a dozen people were surrounding the blood sacrifice spell right in the center of the warehouse to take photos and collect evidence.

These people were walking around Su Qingxing and the others, but seemed not to see the few of them at all, intent on minding their own business.

The whole scene was like an immersion theater, with Su Qingxing and the others becoming bystanders in the middle of it.

“Kids nowadays are really scary.” One of the staff members who was taking photos couldn’t help but lament, “Did you guys see the live photos just now? I feel like I’m going to have a nightmare tonight.”

“Saw it.” Another staff member was standing right next to Bai Hua, so Bai Hua kept a close eye on him, “Those two kids were quite good looking, everyone said they died for love, maybe because their families didn’t approve of them being together?”

“What nonsense are you talking about?! Who would want to die for a guy like that?!” Bai Hua was instantly furious. After being attacked again and again by Su Qingxing and others, his temper had started becoming  worse and worse, and he couldn’t tolerate any pleasant words at this moment.

So when he heard those staff members treat his blood sacrifice as if it was his sacrifice for love with Zhu Ting …… Bai Hua swung his hand straight over!

But Bai Hua’s hand went straight through the staff member’s body, as if he had punched a spirit that had no physical body.

This was also the reason why those staff members couldn’t see Su Qingxing and the others.

“Is it really sacrificing yourself for love?” The staff on the other side seemed surprised, “That’s so silly, even if they die in the same year and on the same day, they won’t necessarily be together in the afterlife, so they might as well enjoy their lives.”

The ghostly creature standing at the entrance of the warehouse that looked exactly like Zhu Ting immediately showed a smile and even moved closer to where Bai Hua was, as the wound on his neck became more and more hideous.

“Why are you guys talking about so much nonsense?” A man who looked like the head came over and accused, “The boy who killed someone and then killed himself is called Bai Hua, his family might have some power. They are coming to this warehouse to have a look, and there is nothing we can do to stop it.”

“Captain, both corpses have already been transported away, why are they still coming here to take a look?” The person next to him immediately began to question, “All that’s left here is the blood, and this inexplicable …… spell, right?”

“Anyway, his family will be coming over later, so you guys can stop talking nonsense.” That captain said, and then suddenly lowered his voice and said, “Let’s gather information quickly now, we might not have a chance later.”

“What’s wrong?” The other staff members also subconsciously followed suit and lowered their voices.

And Su Qingxing and his group, who had been standing next to them, heard all the sounds coming from around them.

“Ahem.” The captain who had warned his men not to talk nonsense just now said somewhat awkwardly at this moment, “It seems that this Bai Hua’s family wants to hold a ghost marriage1 for their son here ……, cough cough.”

“What?!” Bai Hua couldn’t help but exclaim in shock, and so did the others.

“So that’s how it is.” Su Qingxing, however, nodded thoughtfully and muttered to himself, “No wonder that ghostly creature called Zhu Ting has been following Bai Hua.”

After thinking about it, Su Qingxing’s right finger drew a circle in thin air, and the blue lamp hovering mid-air spun around with it.

Immediately afterwards, the scene around Su Qingxing and the others began to change instantly, as if a fast-forward button had been pressed. Everyone’s movements and even the passage of time were sped up, and the sky outside the warehouse was gradually becoming darker.

When Su Qingxing’s finger stopped, all the staff in the warehouse had disappeared, leaving only three complete strangers standing in front of Su Qingxing and the others.

There were two middle-aged people who looked like a husband and wife, as well as a young man who looked a little haggard.

These three people had set up an unknown ritual in front of the blood sacrifice spell, their faces showing sorrow. The woman in her forties, in particular, could not stop crying at the moment.

“Mum? Dad? Brother?” Bai Hua rushed towards his family with a mixture of emotions, but he was unable to touch any of them at all.

It was perhaps the first time that the expression on Bai Hua’s face was less annoying. There was no fake smile, no maniacal grin, no grumpy and frenzied expression, it was the face of a child who had been away from home for a long time and wanted to return to the arms of his loved ones.

But the next second, the expression on this face turned to anger and hate.

“Bai Hua, if you really wanted to be with this boy Zhu Ting, you should have talked to mummy and daddy earlier!” Bai Hua’s mother cried, “Why must you do something stupid?”

“It’s okay.” Although Bai Hua’s father was sad, he still hugged his wife, “We have already arranged a ghost marriage for Hua Hua and Zhu Ting, even if they leave this world now, they will still be able to stay together forever!”

Just as Bai Hua’s father finished his words, Zhu Ting, who had already turned into a ghostly creature, had arrived in front of Bai Hua with a somewhat frightening smile on his crooked head.

“Bai Hua, do you now know why I am here? Because you are dead and so am I. We will always be together, hehehehehehe ……” As Zhu Ting spoke, the wound on his neck was still dripping blood, growing more and more hideous the longer you looked at him.

“Why! Why do you guys have to do this redundant thing?!” Bai Hua gritted his teeth, trying not to scream out of anger.

“Dad, Mom, do you think my brother’s soul could still be floating around here?” Bai Hua’s brother looked around, seemingly searching for Bai Hua’s soul.

He, however, was just an ordinary person after all, so he would not know that Bai Hua was standing in front of him.

Hearing what their eldest son said, Bai Hua’s parents cried even more sadly.

When Su Qingxing saw this scene, a strange feeling suddenly sprang up in his heart. Su Qingxing had only met his parents when he was very young, so even if his memory was good, what was left in his mind were just fragments.

When he saw the grief and sorrow in Bai Hua’s parents’ eyes, Su Qingxing suddenly felt a little envious and a little angry at the same time.

Knowing full well that he would make his parents sad, Bai Hua still decided to leave his parents, who were growing older by the day, behind in order to chase a completely impossible dream.

If Su Qingxing had the chance to see his mother again, then even if the process was difficult, he would definitely not turn back.

Unconsciously caressing the snow wolf in his arms, Su Qingxing gazed at Bai Hua who was staring angrily at his family in silence.

Even Qin Guan and Mu Rong, who were also looking at Bai Hua’s family with mixed emotions, unsure of what to make of everything.

“I want to have a few words with my brother alone, Dad, you take Mom to the car to rest first, I’ll be right there.” Bai Hua’s brother said as he walked straight to the front of the blood sacrifice.

At the beginning, Su Qingxing had been somewhat curious about Bai Hua’s brother, so this moment he took a special look at the youth standing there.

He looked very similar to Bai Hua, only more mature and leaner. What was most unusual was that Bai Hua’s brother had a red mole on his eyebrow, which, together with his sad expression at the moment, unexpectedly made him look a bit pitiful.

The other person seemed to be a very calm person, but Su Qingxing always felt that this person was not as simple as he appeared to be, so he could not help but look at him a few more times.

It was at this time that the snow wolf in Su Qingxing’s arms rubbed the back of his hand, pulling Su Qingxing’s attention back from that stranger.

“Bai Hua.” Only after Bai Hua’s parents had left did his brother speak up, “In the past few days since you disappeared, I have thought about many possibilities.”

Su Qingxing noticed that Bai Hua was also listening to his brother very carefully.

“At that time I felt that your wish must have come true.” Bai Hua’s brother’s voice carried a calming effect, “The blood sacrifice must have succeeded, and you must have gone to another world, to start your life anew.”

“Brother, only you understand me!” Birch was a little agitated, “They don’t understand me, they only harm me! They will only hinder me! You are the only one who understands me!”

Naturally, Bai Hua’s brother couldn’t hear him and just continued, “But I was wrong.”

“……”

“Mom, Dad and I saw your corpse, the ugly and smelly one.” The man’s voice remained calm, calm to the point of being terrifying, “Blood sacrifices don’t leave corpses behind, you’re a loser, and it would be a waste for you to be a blood sacrifice!”

“……”

“You should thank me, I went to a lot of trouble to get my parents to agree to this whole ghost marriage thing.” Bai Hua’s brother narrowed his eyes and smiled, “Happy wedding.”

Bai Hua looked dumbfounded at the brother he had always looked up to. He wondered if he had heard something wrong, so he looked around in amazement.

But everyone else, including Su Qingxing, also looked at each other as if they had heard something incredible.

The red mole between Bai Hua’s brother’s eyebrows looked like a drop of blood as he gazed calmly at the spell left behind by the blood sacrifice and said, “If you’re down there, just have a good time with that unlucky person you killed.”

“Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!” Bai Hua’s brother’s words were the straw that crushed the camel’s back2, causing Bai Hua to simply forget that he was still in a game that he couldn’t show his fear and he shouted, having collapsed completely.

“Bai Chu!!! Go to hell !!!” Bai Hua rushed at the youth like he was ready to fight to death, but no matter whether he tried to punch or strangle, he simply couldn’t reach the man’s body.

“Bai Hua.” Su Qingxing came back to himself and spoke words that were like a basin of cold water splashing on Bai Hua’s head, “The trial has failed.”

Su Qingxing even placed Si Si, who had been cuddling in his arms, carefully on the ground and walked step by step towards Bai Hua in front of him.

“Dead soul number MS8345, Bai Hua. Date of death 27th May 2018, killed himself after killing his friend Zhu Ting. Born with a sinful karma that cannot be dissipated even after death. So, are you ready to take responsibility for what you have done?”

With a wave of Su Qingxing’s right hand, the blue lamp floating mid-air disappeared and everyone found themselves in the original studio hall, standing on the soft red carpet, as if they were back to the beginning.

“Su Qingxing, you ……” Bai Hua seemed to be trying to question Su Qingxing’s identity again.

But before Bai Hua could finish asking, the light in the cinema hall suddenly lit up!

Everyone subconsciously looked towards the curtain behind them, and immediately afterwards, they saw the familiar black and white particles appear on the screen and fly out of it, reconstituting themselves in mid-air inside the cinema hall into the same God of Death they had seen before!

That 3D image that looked exactly like Shen Si!

The last light of hope appeared in Bai Hua’s eyes ……

The first thought that came to Su Qingxing’s mind when he saw that God of Death was: Ah, I forgot there was such a guy around.

The look in Si Si’s eyes also looked the same as Su Qingxing’s, disgusted with the “3D image” that looked exactly like himself.

“God of Death, are you here to pick me up? Bai Hua reached out his hand to the image of Death, his expression full of pleading and humility, “Please, take me with you! I’ll do whatever you want me to do, as long as you can take me away! Please!”

And not far behind Bai Hua, with a crooked neck, that twisted smile appeared on Zhu Ting’s face, as if he knew that he was in to witness the most wonderful scene.

Hi there! I’m sooo sorry for not posting in such a long time! I was busy with irl and I finally got a holiday today! The happy news is that I’ll finally get some free time in the weekends, so updates will go back to at least once a week (2 chapters + any bonus chapters if y’all can make me feel motivated enough *wink wink nudge nudge*). Contrary to what I had believed, this job thingie is way too tiring. I am really sorry for leaving y’all hanging like that.

Based on the comments I got last chapter, I will post the entire chapter instead of breaking it into three parts, and for that reason, till the length of the chapters goes back to normal, there will only be one chapter updated each day. The schedule is Saturday or Sunday every week (depending on whether I am tired enough to die or not)

ghost marriage is a marriage where at least one person is deceased. This is so that they are not alone in their afterlife. Read more here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_ghost_marriage

the phrase used here was “crushed his last straw”. That might be a proverb in Chinese or they might be a shortened version of the English proverb “the straw that broke the camel’s back”
