Chapter 56 – Uncouth lady takes care of things
In the guest room near the hall, I was sitting in a chair with Lord Nazel and Tony.
Lord Nazel is listening to Tony's story about the magical beast we caught.
The magical beast that went on a rampage last night appeared in the garden of the mansion, aiming at Lord Nazel.
The beast hates the lord of Sutrena.
The beast hates the lord of Sutrena because it was captured by two previous lords and mistreated by one previous lord.
I heard bad rumors about the previous lord everywhere, so he must have been a very bad person.
"I am sorry for not telling you something important, Lord Nazelbert. If you are going to punish me, please let it be only me. Mr. Henry had nothing to do with it because I asked that man to do it."
Tony looked shrill, which I would not have expected from him normally.
Lord Nazel, who nodded his head in a hawkish manner, thought for a moment and then said to Tony.
"I can't let the beast out of its cage for a while because I can't say it's safe. We'll keep an eye on them in the garden and see what happens."
"Yes......."
"Tony, you are free to visit the magical beast. And as for the death of the former lord..."
Tony gulped and I watched the two of them in silence.
"I think you can treat that one as an accident too. If it becomes an actual murder, it will require a major investigation, and you and your family will not be safe. It would also be very difficult for Henry to get out of the way now."
Lord Nazel let out a small sigh.
"In the first place, the case of the magical beast was brought about by the negligence of the lord. This kind of punishment is not something that would be praised in the royal capital, but this is a remote area. Fortunately, there were no witnesses, and there is no need to make a big deal out of it."
"Lord Nazelbert! Thank you!"
Tony, looking like he was about to cry, bowed deeply.
So, the horse-like magical beast was to be kept in the yard of the lord's mansion for a while.
The magical beast, which was a Grani, had no name according to Tony.
"Lord Nazel, shall I name it for you?"
"I'll ask Tony to name it for me."
"Me?"
Tony was puzzled, but he seemed to be okay with it.
"Then, let's go with Dunk."
He must have had a name in mind, judging from the way he came up with it so smoothly.
"Hey, Tony. Is Dunk a male or a female?"
"Female."
"I see...... girl! Sounds brave!"
The night of the new moon had passed, and I would go see her later.
As soon as we finished talking, Henry came running into the house, but he, too, breathed a sigh of relief when he heard what was to be done.
"I am sorry, Lord Nazelbert."
"I would have made the same decision myself."
"We don't have a complete picture yet, but this area is probably the worst affected. We will compensate the people whose houses were burned down......."
"Of course."
I realized from their conversation. Lord Nazel got little sleep!
No, perhaps he hasn't slept at all since yesterday. And by the way, Mr. Henry, too.
Even though it is an emergency, shouldn't they take a nap ......?
But when they finished talking, Lord Nazel turned to me and said.
"Agnes, as promised, I'll give you some time once I've cleared the shelter."
"Ah, yes. But while I deal with the shelter, Lord Nazel, and Mr. Henry, please get some sleep."
"What?"
The two of them raised their voices in surprise at the same time, but when would they sleep if they did not sleep now?
"There is a sofa in the next room, so you can lie down too, Mr. Henry. Lord Nazel will go back to your room!"
"Agnes?"
"No questions asked! I'll hear from you later."
I lock Mr. Henry in the next room and force Lord Nazel away to his bedroom.
I rolled up my sleeves and hurriedly headed for the shelter.
