I was not afraid to pull a knife on the security guards in order to keep the class leader out of harms way. In cases someone rushes towards us, I’ll make sure to avoid their vitals and let them have a taste of a Swiss Army knife from the Alps.
The knives are manufactured in the Alps, so it’s much more authentic than Alpenliebe. Alpenliebe was created after an Italian company invested money to produce it in Shanghai, so it would at most contain a east oriental taste. My knife is an authentic foreign good, so who wants to have a taste?
But the class leader understood my intentions. She saw me put my right hand into my pocket and hold onto a rod-like object (why does this description sound a little obscene) and immediately realized that I wanted to pull out the Swiss Army knife.
She grabbed onto my right wrist from behind with her smooth hand. I looked back and saw the class leader shaking her head with a grave expression, which meant I shouldn’t use lethal weapons in a fight.
In that span of time, Zhao Yao had jumped in front of me. He held up his microphone towards Captain Luo and asked:
“Captain, how much do you earn every year by transporting drugs with the dog dealers, and why do you still work as a security guard if you’re so rich?”
Captain Luo’s son, Luo Ning, was sent to the ground by the class leader’s flying rock. On top of that, me and a couple other volunteers were also blocking him from getting close to the class leader. He was filled with anger and had nowhere to vent it, so he slapped Zhao Yao in the face and made him stumble.
“He’s, he’s hitting a reporter!”
Zhao Yao wailed, then quickly turned to the cameraman and asked: “Xiao Wang, did you record that? Hurry up and take a shot of my face, it’s all swollen.”
Captain Luo’ had a lot of strength, so Zhao Yao’s face was soon swollen like a balloon and he couldn’t really talk. He could only stand next to the cameraman and use his hands to direct which shots to take.
Seeing their captain make the first move, the other security guards all pushed forwards while rubbing their fists. While the male volunteers weren’t as strong as the other side, we had the strength in numbers and they quickly stood in front of me and Shu Sha, to prevent the security guards from getting any closer.
“Are you guys security guards or bandits? I can’t believe you’re trying to hit a little girl.”
Although the class leader didn’t dress up, she was attractive enough to be the prettiest girl in school after all. It didn’t matter if the male volunteers knew her or not, they all defended her because they were dog loves plus they wanted to protect a pretty girl.
“Fuck, that little girl injured my son.”
“You don’t need to get so angry over a children’s fight. Also, it doesn’t seem like your son is that injured, look, isn’t he getting back up.”
Luo Ning was supported by another security guard and grimaced as he stood up. His mouth was full of blood and he was missing two of his front teeth, but that was the full extent of his injuries. He could still swear at the class leader from afar, and it looks like he said quite a few dirty words based on the movement of his mouth.
“Don’t think security guards are easy to bully.” One of Captain Luo’s men said, “Since you knocked out two front teeth, if we get a forensic investigator to evaluate it as a minor injury, we can hold you criminally responsible.”
“That’s right, if we call the police, you will be sentenced by law to less than three years in prison.” Another security guard shouted in a threatening voice.
I felt the class leader’s hand, that had grabbed onto my wrist, slightly tremble. Her future aspiration was to become a police officer, so she was naturally familiar with many laws. Although knocking out someone’s teeth was usually handled as a civil matter, but strictly speaking, it’s not a civil case but actually could be classified as a criminal case.
“Class leader, don’t be afraid.” I reassured, “You’re a minor, so you won’t be locked up.”
The class leader nodded, but the anxiety didn’t fade from her face. She probably thought that even if she could avoid punishments because she was a minor, she would still be brought to the police station for a statement. Ultimately, it wouldn’t be beneficial for her to have it on her record if she wanted to become a police officer.
“Who wanted to call the police? The police are right here!” The civil police officer, Xiao Zhang, shouted from behind the crowd, “Nobody move! If you move around randomly… Officer Ma has a gun!”
Xiao Zhang was simply borrowing Officer Ma’s name, he probably never has a chance to say those kinds of statements.
Officer Ma observed the bloated dog for a while and didn’t find any signs of drugs. He realized I tricked him and he walked over in a bad mood.
“Ye Lin, you really know how to cause trouble. Why didn’t you pull your knife earlier? The back seat of the police car is still empty, it’s reserved for you.”
I couldn’t help but feel a bit afraid: Luckily the class leader prevented me from pulling my knife out. If I actually stabbed someone in the heat of the moment, I would have been arrested by Officer Ma.
Hearing that there were police officers with guns present, the security guards restrained themselves, but still said unrelentingly, “We want to make a report, that female student hit Captain Luo’s son. Hurry up and handcuff her and bring her back to the police station.”
The class leader trembled again. In her eyes, handcuffs are always used to bind criminals. It would be ironic if she wore handcuffs before she even became a police officer.
Damn, no one’s allowed to put handcuffs on the class leader. I’m the only one who put handcuffs on her in one of my previous imagination scenarios. How can I let you guys humiliate her with handcuffs in the middle of the day?
“Shu Sha hit your son?” Officer Ma looked at Captain Luo with suspicion, “Shu Sha is very far away from your son, so how did she hit him?”
Officer Ma was focused on looking for drugs earlier and didn’t see the class leader throw the rock.
“She hit him with a rock.” Captain Luo’s eyes widened in anger, “Everyone saw it, so she can’t deny it.”
“From this distance? A large rock can’t be thrown that far and a small rock has to accurately hit a vulnerable spot to knock a person down. So what you’re saying is: Shu Sha, a female student, has secretly learned Xiaoli Feidao?”
“Well… anyway she hit him.”
I laughed in my mind. The class leader did buy a dart board self-defense and would train at home when she had nothing to do. Shu Zhe said that whenever his sister encountered a difficult homework problem, she would first hit a bullseye to change her mood, then the problem would be easily solved.
That’s why the class leader could be said to have skills from Xiaoli Feidao. It’s simply because it contradicts her appearance, so if someone witnesses her skills, it’s more likely they would think it’s luck rather than knowing it was a skill she obtained through hard work.
Officer Ma asked the other people who were present and the volunteers all sided with Shu Sha. It wasn’t because they didn’t see it clearly, but they were vague with their words even if they did see it clearly.
Since there was a camera present, everyone coincidentally turned their attention to the cameraman whow as next to Zhao Yao. The cameraman shook his head to express that he wasn’t able to capture Shu Sha’s movements on camera.
Although the Xiao Zhang also had a camera, he was inspecting the dogs with Officer Ma, so his camera wasn’t pointed in the right direction.
The security guards insisted Shu Sha was the one who tripped Luo Ning, but the volunteers didn’t outright admit it. Instead they said Luo Ning was suspected to be a dog thief and told them to open the nearby garage doors so they could search for stolen pets.
“Why should we let you search just because you want to search?” Captain Luo said angrily, “Let’s take care of the issue with my son first.”
“I trust Shu Sha’s judgment.” Ma HuiYu took a step forward, “Even if she hit your son with a stone, it would have been a last resort. I’m afraid your son and the security guards are involved in the illegal act of stealing and selling pet dogs.”
“Nonsense.” Captain Luo’s face turned bright red, “It’s the volunteers who are misrepresenting the facts. You guys hit someone, but are denying it. Officer Ma, I heard that this woman is your relative, but you won’t bend the law to favor your relatives, right?”
“No way.” Officer Ma said, “Me and Hui Hui…”
“Call me aunt.”
“… My relationship with my aunt isn’t necessarily better than one with a random stranger. Also, I only care about upholding the law, I don’t care about blood relations.”
Officer Ma then looked at the class leader, frowned slightly and asked, “You don’t look like someone who lies. Tell me the truth, did you throw the rock earlier and hit the security guard captain’s son, Luo Ning?”
The class leader lowered her head and her tightly bitten lower lip was almost devoid of all color. After an internal struggle of being afraid of leaving behind a criminal record, her sense of justice still won in the end.
“Yes… it was me.”
The class leader admitted it while holding out her hands, indicating that Officer Ma could handcuff her.
“Luo Ning’s injuries would constitute as minor injuries, so the police have the authority to take me away.”
She said in a mournful tone as if she would lost something important once she was handcuffed.
“But…” the class leader suddenly lifted her head up again, “Officer Ma, you can’t let the dog thieves off the hook either. The stop the cars to save the dogs isn’t really worth mentioning, but that doesn’t mean a legally bred pet dog can just be stolen and sold. Please inspect this place carefully because there are definitely a lot of stolen pet dogs hidden here.”
“It… doesn’t matter if you take me away, but at least make sure the pet dogs are returned to their owners.”
I don’t know if she remembered the sick little black dog that died in her arms, or it was simply empathy for the owners since she couldn’t raise a pet. Anyway, the class leader became slightly teary-eyed, and along with her outstretched arms as she waited to be handcuffed made her seem pitiful. Even people who didn’t know her wanted to defend her.
“Why are you bullying a middle school girl?” A volunteer said from behind Officer Ma, “Why don’t you go fight the triads and catch drug dealers?”
Officer Ma was angry. He usually does fight triads and drug dealers, but now he was being criticized that he was only going to arrest a middle school girl.
“Xiao Ma, if you handcuff Shu Sha…” Ma HuiYu said sternly to Officer Ma, “I won’t let you live another day in peace. I’ll complain to my older brother every day and let’s see how your dad takes care of you.”
Officer Ma was embarrassed by his aunt and scratched his head: “I didn’t say I would handcuff a minor. If she doesn’t resist, I won’t handcuff her.”
I said: “What, Officer Ma, you mean you’re still going to take Shu Sha back to the police station?”
Officer Ma shrugged, “Shu Sha knocked someone’s front teeth out after all. Even if she won’t get charged because she’s a minor, she still should go back to the station with me for a statement…”
The class leader hung her head even lower and tears were in her eyes. Although she felt it was worth being taken away by the police in order to save the stolen pet dogs, but for the Justice Devil, this was definitely a dishonorable stain on her record.
