Chapter 22: CHAPTER 22

"Where is Mr. Acheron?" Eva asked Eloise as they descended the stairs. The stylist was here to dress her up and make sure her make-up and everything else that was on her were perfect. Eva was not a pro in putting on make ups and dressing herself up as though she were some kind of fashionista. So despite her feeling uncomfortable with it all, she did not kick up a fuss nor resist any more and just listened to Gage.

She understood that she needed to appear completely different from the originally prim and proper Eva Young that people knew her to be. Her looks needed to be revamped and transformed from a plain Jane into a femme fatale that was exotic and sensational. And though still a bit uncomfortable, she was eternally grateful for Gage to arrange someone to help her in this matter as she was totally helpless if she were to do it herself.

From now on, she would be Evelyn Lee, Gage Acheron's sophisticated and hot personal secretary.

Eva was not planning to be styled by Eloise forever though. She might be ignorant of the ins and outs of make-up and dress ups for now. But she had already planned to ask and observe everything Eloise and her assistant were doing so that one day, she would be able to do all of these things perfectly by herself. Well... hopefully. And she crossed her fingers behind her back.

"He's already dressed and prepped, Miss Lee. He's currently waiting outside for you to be done."

Eva sighed in relief at Eloise's response. She was a little worried that the man was going to act difficult again and frustrate her with all his antics.

Once she stepped out of the main door, the first thing she saw was him, leaning against the car. He was tastefully dressed in a tailored black suit, well suited for his tall and broad frame and was now looking as handsome as the devil. He always was handsome though. But seeing Gage in suit was just... it was as if black suits were invented in the first place just for him to put them on!

But this was different because she had to put up an act and watch herself so that she would not mess up her disguise. She was always that woman who was comfortable in her own skin. She does not care if people mock her appearance and outfits.

It was different if people try to mock her leadership and her brains though. She would even go as far as to demote someone whom she had personally caught slandering her intelligence and leadership, but she just downright ignored the ones who milled around, gossiping about her appearance even if she was hearing them with her own two ears. She did not give two hoots if her appearance or dressing were being called into question. However, any slight to her IQ and abilities... she would go after them like the devil were on their heels.

"Eva darling?" his voice and those words were like a spear that had shattered the walls she had created around her for her own personal space.

"Stop calling me that, Mr. Acheron. We're technically at work right now, so please address me accordingly." She shot him a strict look, expecting him to understand the situation and react appropriately.

"You know... for a moment there, you looked very much like Evangeline Young when you glare and speak so strictly like that. Evelyn Lee should be a sweet and sophisticated lady, don't you think?" He commented lightly as his eyes returned a challenging look back at her.

Eva was at the verge of biting her lip but thankfully, Eloise's voice echoed in her head, effectively stopping her in time.

A long and deep sigh was drawn out from her lips. She seriously needed to calm down. It would do herself and Gage no good if anyone recognises her uptight and serious personality now when she was supposed to be posing as Evelyn Lee.

Suddenly, she remembered the thing that she had been pondering over while Eloise was doing her make up.

"By the way, Mr. Acheron," she started, her expression was back to being calm by now. "Why did you sleep in my bed last night? Our contract stated that I only needed to warm your bed."
