Volume 1 - CH 14

Her name is Miranda Lilibel. She runs a drug store in Cyclo’s neighborhood and is someone Cyclo knows well.

When his mother was busy with work, Miranda took care of them. She is like a big sister to Cyclo and his sister Alice.

Now, Miranda is about to be the target of a nefarious plot.

(…… I have to inform the police. At the very least, I need to see the faces of the culprits before–)

With this in mind, Cyclo sneaks around the corner and tries to identify those who are making the devil’s plans.

And then — upon seeing them, he despaired.

(No way!? That uniform–the uniform of a police officer!)

To his surprise, one of the men standing there was wearing the uniform of a police officer, an entity that is supposed to protect the safety of the city.

Cyclo, surprised, hurriedly pulled his face and hid.

Then he thinks.

The fact that the police officer is one of the rapists — even if he were to report the incident to the police, the information might be suppressed.

In the first place, will they trust me if I tell them that the police officer is one of the rapists?

Cyclo has a lot of thoughts going through his head. Even though he had just been fired from his job that day, his mind was racing.

He has suddenly stumbled upon the scene of a planned rape, and one of the perpetrators is a police officer.

He is in a panic and can’t think straight, even when he tries to figure out what to do.

He even thought about jumping out in front of the men and beating them to a pulp.

(–I guess there’s only one way …… to protect my Sister Miranda.)

And then he prepared himself.

He plans to report to the police. But that is not enough.

That’s why Cyclo is going to do it.

(I will directly stop their plan! I’m going to hide near Sister Miranda’s house, and when these guys come out, I’m going to make a commotion and gather people! That’s the only way!!)

Thus …… Cyclo moves in to stop a horrendous rape plot.

First, Cyclo goes to the police station where the officer is stationed and makes a report.

“Hello! Excuse me!”

“Hmm? What’s wrong?”

“Actually, sir–“

He reports to the police officer what he saw in the alleyway.

Of course, he also reported the presence of the police officer among the gang of criminals.

But …… he didn’t trust him.

He suspected that he had seen it wrong in the first place.

He was told on the spot that he would still be on the lookout, but …… when the time to put together the details of the report came, he discovered that Cyclo was a former watchmaker who was now unemployed, which further undermined his credibility.

This was the development he had feared the most. In this world where people with powerful skills are commonplace. It is impossible to be unemployed without a job.

No matter how incompetent you are, as long as you have the power of skill, you can work. But how problematic is a person who is fired from the craftsmen’s guild?

From the police officer’s point of view, Cyclo’s very existence must have seemed rather suspicious.

Cyclo himself understood this, so he knew that he might not be trusted to report the incident.

That is why Cyclo decided to take the last resort.

To protect Miranda directly with his own hands.
