After spending the night at the lord’s mansion, the next day.

Cyclo and Mist went to town to buy weapons and equipment.

Since they had breakfast at the lord’s mansion before they left, neither of them was hungry …… but…

“–Mist?”

Cyclo noticed that Mist’s pace was lagging behind.

He looked and saw that Mist’s gaze had been stolen by a food stall selling skewers.

“…… Mist. Do you want to eat?”

“–Fue!? M-Master!?”

Mist hurriedly misdirected.

“T-That’s not possible! Come on, Master! Let’s go look at the weapons!”

Cyclo smiles at Mist.

“You don’t have to hold back. I’ll buy you as many skewers as you want.”

“…… Really?”

Cyclo nods in response to Mist’s question.

“Yeah. The truth is ……  I have a special Job Skill called “Clock User”.”

“A clock user?”

“Yeah. It’s not as much as Mist, but I had trouble with various things. it’s not necessarily –because of that, but because if Mist is happy, I feel like I’m being rewarded, and that makes me happy. “

Cyclo is embarrassed, but speaks his true feelings.

“So don’t hesitate to tell me what you want and what you want to do.”

“Master.”

Receiving Cyclo’s thoughts, Mist nodded her head in a serious manner, as if she too had felt something.

“I understand. If that’s the case – I’ll make be happy without hesitation. I’m going to get a lot of things from Master then.”

Mist said a little mischievously, to which Cyclo responded in the same way.

“Yeah. Don’t hesitate to take as much as you want!”

“Yes!”

After confirming each other’s intentions, the two bought two skewers of roasted meat and headed for the weapons store, each enjoying one skewer at a time.

Upon arriving at the weapon shop, they were allowed to try out various weapons to find the one that best suited Misto’s skills.

“–If you want to test it out, do it here.”

The owner of the arms shop led us to an open space built behind the store for testing.

Cyclo expects to see bundles of straw and wood randomly placed on the floor for test cutting.

“Thank you very much, shopkeeper. Can I bring the weapons together?”

“Yeah. If it’s to test the weapon, you can.”

With the shopkeeper’s permission, Cyclo brings the weapons for test cutting to the open space.

Among them, there were some unusual weapons, such as a club and a chain sickle.

“Okay, then, Mist. Try these out in turn.”

“Yes, sir!”

Thus began Mist’s test cutting.

At first, she started with standard weapons such as swords and spears. However, no matter which weapon she used, she only moved unsteadily and did not seem to have any aptitude for it.

Then she tried all the bladed weapons and found that she was not suited for any of them.

“Ummm, if blades are no good, then it must be a striking weapon? Mist, try this next one.”

“Yes!”

Cyclo handed Mist a short staff that few people use as a weapon.

The staff is a weapon that magic users use at least for self-defense, but few people use it as their primary weapon in close quarters combat.

“–Here goes!”

Mist swung the short staff with great enthusiasm.

Mist, who had been an amateur at this point, suddenly launched a sharp downward swing.

The targeted wood was struck by the staff and snapped with a crack.

“……! I did it, Master!”

“Good job, Mist! It looks like you’ve found your aptitude with the staff!”

Cyclo patted Mist on the head and praised her.

“So, there is a possibility that you can also use the longer one, not just a short cane. Let’s try some more.”

“Yes!”

And so – as a final confirmation, we tried several weapons and finished the aptitude check.

As a result, Mist’s aptitude was “staff aptitude. It was found that she can handle any stick-shaped weapon up to a certain length.

However, when it comes to a long stick like a spear, it is not recognized as a staff, or the skill was not effective.

Also, the skill was not effective with clubs, whose shape is too distorted to be called a cane.

As a result of these tests, it was decided that the most suitable weapon for Mist would be a staff of medium length.

“–Mr. Shopkeeper. Now that I’ve finished my trial cutting, I’d like to choose a weapon.”

“Okay. What would you like?”

“‘I’d like to see a medium-length, close-combat staff.”

“A staff, huh …… I don’t know the exact number, but…”

With that, the owner disappears into the back of the store.

He returns with several staffs, lays them out on his desk and begins to explain them.

“The staffs for combat are either synthetic cudgels made from monster materials or metal staffs. I’ve brought a few of both, depending on her size.”

“Thanks. –Mist. Try them out and choose the one that looks best.”

“Sure thing! Hmmm ……”

Mist took each of the staff brought by the shopkeeper in turn and shook them lightly to see how they felt.

Eventually, she narrowed down his choices to a few, and in the end, she was left with two staff to choose from.

“What do you think, Mist?”

“Well, this staff is easier to use, but this metal wand seems to be better for its power ……”

“I see. Then, we’ll buy both. Shopkeeper, please.”

“All right.”

“What!? M-Master!?”

Cyclo receives both of the two staff she was worried about and hands them to the shopkeeper.

“Don’t worry about it. I have a storage type skill, after all. You can just switch between them depending on the situation.”

Mist smiled, half in astonishment and half in joy, at Cyclo’s extravagant suggestion.

“Yes–I understand. Thank you, Master.”
