Volume 5 - CH 6

After the Hero and Saint were judged, a decree was sent to the craftsmen’s guild, and ruin was confirmed.

In a room in the royal palace, Olivia, the 17th Queen, received a report from her maid.

“This concludes my report on the false accusation case of Hero Raven and the disposition of the Craftsmen’s Guild.”

“Yes. Thank you.”

The maid reported in detail about each of the events as if she had “seen” them all.

After all, this maid has mastered the skills in intelligence activities, and is professional in that line of work. It was not difficult for her to simply observe a series of events and report them as they were.

After receiving the report, Olivia breathed out a sigh of relief.

“Now, that kid can finally come home.”

Olivia said and thinks back. She thinks back about the boy who took better care of her precious old mechanical clock than she did.

The boy who became excited and talkative when talking about the mechanism inside the clock.

And – perhaps the only person in the world today who might be able to repair that old clock, even now.

“Next is an organization that will replace the craftsmen’s guild. The craftsmen seem to have gone off on their own, so …… let’s see. We could have them unite in some sort of alliance and take over the role that the craftsmen’s guild used to play.”

Olivia’s plans as she said this.

Originally, the craftsmen’s guild was created to solve the problem of craftsmen with excellent skills who were making things as they pleased, resulting in a lack of uniformity in standards, etc., and making it impossible for anyone other than the craftsmen themselves to add their own touches.

By having craftsmen follow a certain level of unified standards and specifications, the guilds help improve the efficiency of their work, while at the same time enabling mutual exchange of skills and encouraging the improvement of each craftsman’s skills.

It was for this purpose that the government took the initiative in creating the organization of the Craftsmen’s Guild.

However – at present – corruption is progressing and excellent craftsmen are being fired.

If such an organization becomes the central axis of the country, the national interest will be greatly damaged.

Therefore, Olivia wanted to destroy the craftsmen’s guild and create an organization to replace it.

This was also done in the hope that when Cyclo returned to the Royal Capital, he might work as an engineer again in an organization unrelated to the Craftsmen’s Guild.

“…… Um, Madam Olivia. May I ask you a question?”

Here, the maid asks Olivia.

“What is it? I don’t mind.”

“Then excuse me ……Why are you so obsessed with this young man named Cyclo, Madam Olivia?”

That was the question of the maid.

Even if he was an excellent engineer, he was still a commoner.　

The cost of Olivia’s efforts to exonerate Cyclo and destroy the craftsmen’s guild is immeasurable.

But when it was all spent for the sake of a single commoner, one can’t help but wonder.

“Well. I’m as obsessed with this clock as I am with that boy.”

Olivia said, looking at the old clock, which was already broken inside and no longer working.

Olivia’s answer was abstract, but it was enough to convince the maid.

In other words, this old clock is a memento of Olivia’s youth, and she wants to repair it at all costs. So she has no choice but to be obsessed with the only one capable of repairing it, which was Cyclo.

“Is it?”

“Yes. That boy–Mr. Cyclo–will be a good craftsman. His eyes is different, after all.”

Olivia said, remembering when Cyclo was working.

Until he looked inside the clock, he was quite nervous, partly because he had come to the royal palace.

However, when it came time to start the repairs, his previous nervousness was gone as if it was a lie, and he was so focused that it was as if he had even forgotten Olivia’s presence.

Olivia saw the serious color of his eyes and was convinced that he possessed the unique temperament of a first-rate person.

“He’s going to do something big. I have that kind of hunch.”

Olivia says, deeply moved.

“–And is that answer fine with you?”

“Yes. Thank you very much, Madam Olivia.”

The maid was also satisfied with the explanation, so she bowed her head and expressed her gratitude.

“Then, let’s move on. Judging the crimes of Hero will not save the victim. The notoriety of Cyclo’s false accusation has not been eradicated. There is still much to be done.”

Thus, Olivia’s plan to bring Cyclo back to the Royal Capital to repair the clock is underway.

“Even so …… there are so many unexpected obstacles that I’m having trouble. We’ve finally come this far. So I don’t want to trip over anything strange. –I’m sure we’ll be receiving information from Northfolia tomorrow about Mr. Cyclo’s safety, right?”

“Yes. The other day, I finally received permission to use the messenger for private use. I have direct contact with Northfolia.”

A messenger is a long-distance communication device that uses magical tools.

It is used to exchange information between the royal family and nobles, or between nobles. However, there are restrictions on private use.

In addition, the confidentiality of information is problematic, and because of the risk of information leakage through interception, it is a strictly managed device to begin with.

For these reasons, even at Olivia’s request, it was difficult to obtain permission for a private use that had nothing to do with the operation of the country, such as simply wanting to know the safety of the commoners.

Olivia said and thought again. What can they do to get Cyclo back to work in the Royal Capital as a craftsman again?

They received the information that Cyclo had done something extraordinary: he had returned from the unprecedented level of the “Worst Dungeon” and had officially become an SSS-ranked adventurer.

Because of this, Olivia has a mountain of work to do in order to achieve her goal, and she is depressed thinking about the road to achieving her final goal.
