Mob Highschool Student Spend his Mediocre Daily Life

I, Hiura Seiya yearns for the ordinary.

I don’t want to be bullied, I don’t want to be excluded, I don’t want to be shunned.

These three things are the things that I hope for my daily life. I think that if these criteria are met, my life would be so easy.

As a second-year high school student, I spend my daily life aiming to be unremarkable and mediocre.

At present, the school I am commuting to has quite a good reputation but there is nothing conspicuous about it, I can say that this is my ideal school life.

What I am always aiming for is to be the Mob of the Mobs.

Without getting noticed by anyone, without being seen by anyone, a mob that presents in the background and disappears before you know it. Hearing it so far might make me sound like an assassin but that idea is rejected. Why? Because an assassin sounds more like a protagonist rather than a mob, that’s why.

One thing to note is that it is easy to imagine a mob like me as some loner but that logic is unreasonable.

On the contrary, a loner is a job that moderately stands out and one should avoid becoming one even more than becoming a popular person.

For example, if we put the top caste like the handsome guys and beautiful girls in the class as level 100 adventurers then a loner would be like some newbie adventurer.

A new adventurer with no known status, skills, or titles, in other words, you will be someone with infinite possibilities.

Meeting a spirit.

Discovering some unknown treasures.

No matter how trivial it is, when you do it you will easily become the talk of the town and your class will upgrade from a loner to a hot topic.

When such a loner changes class like that, a mob has the duty to say [I have always believed in him!] or [What the hell are you?]. Such is a mob.

You should already understand. The mob I am aiming to become belongs to a similar group as those level 100 people but acts more like a midway stop……for example, a position like that of some random old man the main protagonist met in the guild in the first town of a fantasy world.

A position like that exists in every story! If you read five stories you will also find five random oldmen. However, does anyone remember the name of some old guy that came to pick a fight with the protagonist? A guy that only appeared once in the story.

Hey, do you know the name of the party that came to pick a fight with the protagonist in Lege*d? Oh, it’s ****’s claw! There would be no one who could answer it so redil……..no, that name came up several times in the story. BUT!! there’s no way that anyone could remember the names of its members!”

THE ORDINARY, VIVA LA MEDIOCRE!

An appropriate amount of friends and a moderate amount of distance.

“HEY, ****-san placed second on the test again!”

“Really!? Eh, but who is the person that place above ****-san though?”

“Uhh, who’s this? We don’t know him so he shouldn’t be anyone important right?”

“I guess.”

I am aiming to become someone that no matter how many times he took the first place, the beauty in the second place will be the only one who gets noticed.

Well, I already came up with a method to do that.

First of all, I wake up at the time that is too early for others to go to school, fix my bed hair, wash my face, and wear some thick glasses that will make my face look inconspicuous.

After breakfast, I will check if there is anything I forgot, and since the homeroom starts at 8:30, I leave my house at around 7:00 so that I can arrive in the empty classroom.

When I get to the classroom, I will start reading my book in my own seat, the leftmost seat second from the front row, the so-called mob seat. And to establish the atmosphere that I don’t want to be disturbed, I will never raise my face from the book.

This is the basic technique to prevent conversation as a mob and become a mere air that no one cares about. I have kept this schedule ever since I entered high school.

In the first place, most people will not talk to a long-haired guy who is reading and doesn’t lift his face up even once from his book. Most of the time, there is only around one person who talked to me, at most, it would be 2 or 3 people.

20 minutes after I am the first to arrive in the classroom, people will start to show up and noises began to echo in the room. Then, around 30 minutes later, the volume of those noises will peak.

“Good morning Reika-chan! Did you watch the drama yesterday?”

“Good morning, Rin-chan. I watched it, it was fun!”

“Good morning, Ehashi-san, did you manage to get that thing from last Saturday?”

“I’m sorry, I was a little busy on Saturday and Sunday…..I wasn’t looking for it……..”

The girl who just arrived is in the current top caste of our grade, Ehashi Reika. She has long glossy black hair, her appearance is good and her grades are excellent. A complete opposite existent from me, the mob incarnate.

Surrounded by girls, she is someone that boys can’t approach. The rumor has it that since the new year, the number of confessions she received already past two digits.

For a mob like me, she would be someone that is unattainable.

“Ahh, that group is amazing as usual huh, Seiya?”

“It’s the usual right, don’t you want to mix in with them too, Masato?”

“Nah, that’s too high level for me. And to be honest, I am already happy just by looking at them from a distance!”

“Shut up, at least have a little hope, will you. People might say that you already have someone you are aiming for, you know?”

“Yeah yeah……I’m already satisfied just by looking alright……”

The person who started talking to me just now was Shiraki Masato. We went to the same junior high school but we only became friends when we happened to be in the same class in high school.

By the way, his first words to me were [Oh, you are here?]. I almost blurted out that [You are here too!?] but I was convinced by Masato’s words that I managed to pull off a mob life during my junior high school years so I gave it my all to remember his name from the self-introduction session in the homeroom and gave my greeting. And like that, we became friends.

Yes. Masato is the only person that I can talk to at school. We also eat lunch together as well.

Among all the factors that allow me to exist as a mob rather than a loner, the presence of my friend, Masato may play quite a big part in it.

With one person to talk to, I managed to level up from a loner into a mob.

“—so, I will make sure to look for it next time……”

“Eh, really!? I thought that it was immediately sold out but it actually came into stock today you know, want to see it together?”

“Really? By all means!”

“Alright, alright! It’s a good chance so let’s take a look at it together! This issue is Kamishiro Kousei’s special edition too!”

KRRRR

“Eh?…….ah, is that so? I see. That person is popular after all, so that’s why it was immediately sold out…..”

“Yeah yeah! Wait, you don’t know Kamishiro Kousei-sama!? There were only a few left when I bought it you know!”

……..hearing that conversation, I almost slipped off my chair.

They were talking about the magazine but I never thought that that name would come out. I know that the person was 100% doesn’t mean it but it still took me by surprise.

Ehashi-san noticed the sound and glanced my way but she probably thought that it was some strange person who made that sound.

I am a mob after all. It would be strange for a person to pay their attention to me.

I regained my cool and resumed reading my novel while waiting for the teacher to enter the classroom and start the homeroom.

That day the lessons ended without any problems. When it’s time to go home, I leave the class earlier than anyone else.

There are a lot of days I don’t have anything to do after this but I have to go to work today……..Well, whether I have something to do afterward or not, it doesn’t change that I would leave the class immediately though.
