Chapter 47

He didn’t know if it was because his head had been pried open by a Monster but not only was Qin Zhou lacking any memory of the 2-6 Rule World, he even felt like his thinking had dulled. 

He obviously saw his name on the list and the student on duty in the 2-6 area also told him that he entered the 2-6 Rule World.

The fact that he had no memory of it, obviously meant he’d been picked by the 2-6 Monster.

But it didn’t sink in for Qin Zhou until he saw Lin Yi avert his gaze.

The student on duty in front of him said, “Zhou Ge, we didn’t dare to move Luo Yi Ge’s… body.” 

Qin Zhou looked away, “Handle it according to standard procedure.”

The student on duty was stunned. He couldn’t quite understand Qin Zhou’s meaning, “You mean send it directly to be cremated? Is there no…no need to…”

“Yeah.” The cigarette in his mouth was tasteless, so Qin Zhou simply stubbed it out and said to the on-duty officer, “After they all wake up, send them to Room B-101 for a meeting.”

After saying so, Qin Zhou left.

Once Qin Zhou had his back to them, Lin Yi dared to sneak in another glance.

“The President must be the same as I was when I left the 7-7 Rule World. I didn’t remember anything at all from that time but why do I feel like President’s back looks a bit lonely?” Cheng Yang asked into Lin Yi’s ear, “Could it be that President remembers something?”

“No.” Lin Yi said, “Even though Senior doesn’t remember anything, he must have already figured it out.”

While Lin Yi and Cheng Yang were talking, the others woke up one after another. 

The officer on duty hurried to Ou Ying, “Ou Ying Jie, Zhou Ge asked for you guys to go to Room B-101 for a meeting.”

“Okay, I understand.” Ou Ying said, “Thank you for your hard work.”

“Not at all. You were the ones who’d been working hard, Ou Ying Jie.” The student on duty bowed to them.

The student union always held a meeting whenever they successfully escaped from a Rule World. Ou Ying, naturally, was familiar with this procedure. After Su Tianle woke up, she said to the person on duty, “Student, please send Ye Qiong back to the dormitory. He received a great shock in the Rule World so he won’t be participating in this meeting.” 

The officer on duty nodded in response.

Ou Ying was about to take Lin Yi and the others to the meeting room when, as Ou Ying reached the door, the officer on duty opened his mouth and called out to Ou Ying, “Ou Ying Jie!”

Ou Ying turned around. “What’s the matter?”

The officer on duty hesitated, so Ou Ying asked Lin Yi and the others to wait for her by the door. She turned back to talk quietly with the officer. 

“What’s wrong?” Ou Ying asked him.

The person on duty said, “Luo Yi Ge… we’ve been waiting for you and Zhou Ge to come out of the 2-6 Rule World. Just now Zhou Ge said to follow standard procedure. Ou Ying Jie, do you need to see Luo Yi Ge one last time?”

“No need.” Ou Ying said, “Follow the procedure. Thank you for your hard work.”

The officer on duty nodded. “…OK.” 

His expression though obviously showed that he didn’t understand why Ou Ying and Qin Zhou wouldn’t go see Luo Yi.

So Luo Yi, who held one of the most dangerous positions in the student union had told her and Qin Zhou early on.

If he were to be so unlucky to die in the Rule World, he wanted to be directly cremated. He begged the two of them not to look upon his body but to let him go with dignity.

Teaching Building B, Room 101.

Ou Ying knocked on the door. A dull voice inside said, “Come in.” 

Ou Ying turned her head and said to the people behind her, “Don’t be nervous, it’s just a meeting.”

Actually, among those who left the 2-6 Rule World, Lin Yi was the only one who was nervous.

Right now, Lin Yi was afraid of Qin Zhou. Part of the reason was this whole match he’d played against Qin Zhou. Looking back now, Lin Yi still had lingering fears. Qin Zhou was too strong. Several times there, he really was about to go ‘gg’.

It was more traumatic than coming out of the 7-7 Rule World and seeing Cheng Yang. 

Another part of the reason was that Lin Yi kept worrying whether Qin Zhou would vaguely remembered something; something like his embarrassing acting skills and the existence of “It”.

Thinking of ‘It’, Lin Yi’s heart thumped.

If it weren’t because the 2-6 Monster armed with Qin Zhou’s memories was too difficult to deal with, needing his complete concentration, he could have spared some thought to ponder why the 2-6 Monster was afraid of ‘It’.

That last statement by the 2-6 Monster still bothered Lin Yi. 

She pushed open the door. The meeting attendees already inside the room all looked towards them.

Lin Yi hurriedly lowered his head; although he’d seen that Qin Zhou had kept looking at the campus rulebook in his hand the entire time, not even looking towards them like the others did.

After entering the meeting room, Lin Yi slipped to farthest corner and sat down.

Cheng Yang squeezed in next to him. At this time, Lin Yi was extremely grateful to Cheng Yang. Cheng Yang was robust enough to block sight of him. 

Ou Ying first introduced the other people attending the meeting. There were the two other vice-presidents of the student union. The student union has one president and three vice presidents.

There was also a male student, the deputy of the patrol team.

The others were the heads and deputies of the student union’s various departments.

Cheng Yang said to Lin Yi, curious, “Every department has a head and a deputy, it all seems so formal.” 

Lin Yi gave an ‘en’. He actually understood why each post had to have a deputy. If ever the head passed away, the deputy would immediately step in so as to avoid any turmoil in the student union.

After introductions, Ou Ying said to Qin Zhou, “Everyone is here, we can start.”

Qin Zhou: “Yes.”

Ou Ying gave her account of all that had happened in the 2-6 Rule World. Someone was recording her statement as she spoke. Once she was done, someone asked questions. 

Ou Ying answered them patiently, which made Lin Yi even more nervous.

“Who was the one who was to originally pour mercury into the dice?”

Ou Ying: “Lin Yi. Lin Yi suddenly felt unwell that night but we only had that one chance, so I went with Cheng Yang.”

After Ou Ying finished answering each question, she called Chen Jinnan and the others to tell their side of the story one by one. Ou Ying was called Lin Yi last as she could see Lin Yi’s nervousness. 

When it was Lin Yi’s turn, Lin Yi finally looked towards Qin Zhou.

Lin Yi had more to narrate than the others but he didn’t want to reveal the existence of ‘It’. However, without ‘It’, many parts of his story wouldn’t connect, especially that last part as he was trying to test out the correct Rules of Death on the 2-6 Monster.

Although Qin Zhou once commented on Lin Yi as being “easy to deceive but quite disobedient”, in fact, Lin Yi didn’t like lying very much. Lying was his flaw but sometimes he had no other way to plug the holes in his story.

Fortunately, had called on his last to tell his story, which gave Lin Yi time to write a draft. But with Qin Zhou staring at him, Lin Yi was so nervous that he forgot his words. 

Ou Ying comforted him, “Lin Yi, don’t be nervous. Just tell your story directly.”

Lin Yi: “Eeee…en.”

He took a deep breath and stammering, he recited his draft.

Suddenly, Qin Zhou said softly, “Lin Yi.” 

“Senior, what is it?” Lin Yi looked at Qin Zhou with a bit of fear, his heart skipping a beat. He was especially afraid that Qin Zhou might have remembered something and was now going to expose him.

Qin Zhou said, “Go get me a glass of water.”

“Ah?” Lin Yi: “Oh, okay.”

There is a water dispenser in the meeting room and Lin Yi went to fetch water for Qin Zhou. 

When he stood in front of the water dispenser with a disposable cup, he ran into a problem. Did Qin Zhou want cold water or hot water?

Just when Lin Yi was wondering whether he should ask Qin Zhou, he heard Qin Zhou say, “There’s no need for him to recount his story. The 2-6 Rule has disappeared. There’s no need to waste time.”

“That’s not the purpose of today’s meeting.” Qin Zhou looked at Chen Jinnan and the others, “That the Monster will possess one amongst the students involved is confidential. I believe that Ou Ying has already told you why. Now that you already know, there are two options before you. The first is to join the patrol, of course this is not mandatory. The second is to sign a non-disclosure agreement.”

Qin Zhou took out a stack of documents and asked Ou Ying to distribute them. 

“In the end, this agreement is just a piece of paper and we have no real way to restrain you.” Qin Zhou said, “This agreement only serves one purpose. If you sign and still violate this agreement, I now have justification to come looking for you with trouble.”

Though they called it a non-disclosure agreement, it was actually a blank piece of paper. They only needed to write their names on it.

Afterwards, the student union will archive these signed papers. The student union needed to keep track of those who knew the secret of the Rule World.

Before Qin Zhou hadn’t let Lin Yi sign as it had been getting dark and there were many campus rules related to the dark. 

Su Tianle and Li Dang signed and they left immediately after.

Chen Jinnan asked Qin Zhou, “Zhou Ge, if I sign the agreement now but want to join the patrol later, can I still join?”

Qin Zhou said, “Yes.”

So Chen Jinnan and Zhou Gan also signed and left. 

The only ones remaining were Cheng Yang and Lin Yi. Cheng Yang wanted to stay with Lin Yi. If Lin Yi decided to join the patrol, he’ll join as well. If Lin Yi signs, he’ll sign as well. Although Cheng Yang felt that Lin Yi would join the patrol team.

Lin Yi gave Qin Zhou the cup of warm water. He then sat back in his seat, picked up a pen and signed his name on the paper.

Qin Zhou looked at him.

After Lin Yi finished signing, Cheng Yang also quickly signed. Lin Yi waited for Cheng Yang to sign and then asked in a low voice, “Senior, can I go now?” 

Qin Zhou withdrew his gaze and said, “The student union has left your textbooks with the dorm manager.”

Lin Yi: “Oh, yes, thank you, Senior.”

Qin Zhou waved his hand.

It was like Lin Yi had been granted a pardon and he quickly left. As soon as they left the meeting room, Cheng Yang asked him, “Lin Yi Xiong, I thought you would join the patrol team.” 

Lin Yi paused. “Why?”

Is he that obvious? That even Cheng Yang can see it?!

Cheng Yang said, “I can’t say why. It’s just a feeling.”

Lin Yi: “Oh.” 

If ‘It’ hadn’t shown up in front of Qin Zhou, he would have joined the patrol team. But right now he didn’t dare show himself too much in front of Qin Zhou lest it trigger some memory in Qin Zhou. If he joins the patrol team, he would definitely be meeting Qin Zhou often.

Cheng Yang said, “Then what are we doing now?”

Lin Yi: “Looks like it’s time for lunch.”

Only three hours had passed in reality since they entered the 2-6 Rule World. No wonder they didn’t feel hungry despite not eating anything in the 2-6 Rule World. 

Lin Yi and Cheng Yang went to the cafeteria. Meanwhile, the student union’s meeting was still on-going.

Qin Zhou told Ou Ying, “Vice President, try to recount what had happened from Lin Yi’s perspective.”

Ou Ying was momentarily stunned, “Zhou Ge, didn’t you say it would be a waste of time?”

Qin Zhou didn’t say anything. 

Ou Ying said, “Then I’ll try.”

Ou Ying tried to tell the whole story from Lin Yi’s perspective.

Qin Zhou listened carefully.

Thinking of Lin Yi’s evasive  gaze, for some reason, he suddenly had the urge to smoke.
