The Tavern Opens at Night, So I’ll Help You Clean Up
“Fufu, the tavern is the staple place to gather information!”
It was written in the book I brought with me.
As expected, the best thing to have on me was this book.
“Missy, the tavern is not yet opened.”
I was warned by a middle-aged man in dirty clothes as I walked in.
Apparently, the tavern was open at night. I learned something new.
But still, the inside of the tavern was in a very shabby state.
I wonder if this is also because the lord has raised the land rent.
“Um, may I ask you something?”
Go back, leave! He waved his hand at me.
I just needed a little bit of your time though, what do I do…
Ah, yes.
“I will help you clean then.”
“Huh? I don’t have any money to pay you for your help.”
“I don’t need money. I just want to talk to you about something for a little bit.”
When I smiled at him, he made a dumbfounded expression at me.
I don’t want your money. I just want to talk to you for a minute.
“You are quite an oddball, Missy.”
“You think so?”
“Oh well. If you don’t need payment for your help, then.”
“Thank you very much.”
When I thanked him, he said, “You’re a strange one, indeed,” but I didn’t understand.
“What should I do first?”
“Then, can I ask you to clean the floor?”
“Alright.”
He tried to hand me an empty tub, which I refused to accept.
I don’t need it.
I unleashed a purification spell on the floor that erased the dirt from it.
In an instant, the floor became dirt-free.
A maid taught me a long time ago how to get rid of dirt beautifully.
“I will be done in no time, so please wait a moment.”
I smiled at the surprised look on his face, rolled up my sleeves, and proceeded to clean the floor. I also decided to clean the windows, which were very dirty.
Fortunately, I have a lot of magical power, so I’m sure I won’t kick a bucket just from cleaning.
After about five minutes, I finished cleaning the floor and windows.
“I’m done, is there anything else that needs cleaning?”
“Eh, no…”
“Oh, let me fix the cracks on the wall too.”
I have no idea what happened here, but there were a lot of cracks all over the walls. The butler taught me the way of fixing it when I broke down the wall of the mansion a long time ago.
“W, who are you, M-Missy?”
After I finished repairing the wall, I went back to the uncle and he looked at me as if he had seen a ghost.
I only used elementary magic, though…
I learned that unlike the Ansanse Kingdom, the commoners of the Principality of Agreable were not proficient in magic.
As an independent country, it still has an unstable foundation. I’ve also heard that the commoners are prevented from learning magic because the higher-ups fear that the people will gain power and rebel.
I don’t know the details, but I think I should have learned more.
“Missy?”
When I was deep in thoughts thinking about it, the uncle’s call brought me back to my senses.
“I am… just an ordinary traveler.”
“Traveler?”
“Yes, I hail from the Ansanse Kingdom. That’s why I am proficient with magic.”
When I answered without any falsehoods, he seemed to understand and laughed, “I see.”
“What’s your name?”
“It’s Elle.”
“I’m Urbain. You were of great help, thank you.”
I don’t think I’ve done anything to deserve such grand gratitude, but I’ll take it.
“You’re welcome,” I said with a smile.
“So, you wanted to talk to me? You’ve done so much for me. I’ll tell you whatever I know.”
“Then, can you tell me about the lord of this village?”
The moment I asked, Uncle Urbain’s expression turned dark.
It seems that I’m going to hear a lot about his worthlessness over here as well.
