I’ve Been Exiled, But I’m Alive and Well - Chapter 112

“Elle!”

After I finished my conversation with Ewe, I went outside and Jed who noticed me, ran up to me.

Just like a big dog...

I don't think it's right to compare a person to a dog, but that's what I felt. I'll try not to tell him that.

“Good morning to you, Jed.”

“Good morning.”

“You are up early.”

“Yeah, I ended up waking early.”

Jed scratched his hair and blushed. He smiled shyly for some reason. I'm not sure why he's embarrassed, but I felt sorry to kept him waiting.

It's still a little earlier than our meeting time, though.

I wonder how long I kept him waiting.

“How long have you been waiting.”

“About an hour, I think.”

I felt my cheeks twitch as Jed quickly said something shocking.

An hour… he really should have waited in his room since we are staying at the same inn.

When I apologized for making him wait, he smiled and said, "Don't worry about it.” Which made me feel even more guilty because he sounded like he meant everything he said.

"Next time, please don't wait so long."

It was nice of the gentleman not to keep the lady waiting, but it only hurt my heart to hear that he had to wait so long.

I think I didn’t say anything unusual, but Jed looked puzzled and confused.

“What is it?”

“Well, can I have expectations to have another opportunity?”

“... It’s a figure of speech!”

I'm not talking about meeting up with me, I'm talking about meeting up with someone else. It's not that I want to go out with him again. I have no intentions of going out.

“I’d like to go out with you again, though.”

“We haven’t even gone out yet…”

“Anywhere is fun with you around, Elle.”

Why does he say embarrassing things so easily?

You can clearly tell that he means no harm, so that makes it even more embarrassing. As if to deceive myself, I stepped forward and called out, "Let's go quickly.”

“Oh, yeah. You look good in your outfit today.”

“Thank you.”

“You don’t get embarrassed by this, huh.”

He looked disappointed. It's just that I'm not too embarrassed about it because I used to get flattered that my clothes looked good on me a lot in the past.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing. You are also dressed differently.”

He's usually dressed very properly, but today he looks like he's really into it. Maybe it's just my imagination, though.

Jed blinked for a moment and then looked away, embarrassed. Holding his mouth, he muttered, "W, well, I'm going out with you, so I put spirit in my selection.”

“Does it not suit me?”

“It looks quite good on you.”

“Is that so? Thanks.”

He smiled at me with a dazzling smile.

“Let’s go then?”

I tilted my head at Jed, who suddenly held out his hand.

As I stared at it, it was lowered with great speed. When I checked his face to see what that was about, I saw that he had turned bright red.

What did you want to do?

When I was puzzled, a small voice said something to me.

“Excuse me, but what was that about?”

“I thought we could walk while holding hands… no, sorry for thinking so strangely.”

Holding hands…

Jed walked ahead of me, saying, “It’s nothing, let’s go quickly.” I compared his hand with my own and imagined a scene where we hold hands.

I felt embarrassed that I had imagined such a thing, and my cheeks turned red.

“Elle?”

“It’s nothing. Let’s go.”

We started walking next to each other.
