When my Gift manifested, I was delighted.

Set in a school, the game stars a guy named Juumonji Takeru as its protagonist.

Naturally, as a Dating Sim protagonist, he is very popular with the girls.

And then, there was this character that appears as a close friend to our protagonist, the man called Akechi Hideyori.

If he was simply a typical Dating Sim Best Friend Character then there would be no problem.

The game [Breaking the Chain of Sadness] certainly has many passionate and strong romance moments but what stands out the most were its tragic moments.

And the main cause of those tragic moments was none other than Akechi Hideyori.

The existence of this man alone spiked up the age ratings of the game.

On the surface, he is simply a childhood friend to Juumonji Takeru. However, it was revealed in the latter half of the game how much he loathes the protagonist and how he works against him behind the scenes.

In the ranking of [The Most Hated Best Friend Character] in Galges, this man deserves his own spot in the hall of fame for how scummy and vile he is.

Using his Gift, commonly known as [Dominating Decree], he would plunge the heroines into the depth of despair.

According to his background information, it seems that his personality was warped due to the abuse he was subjected to when he was a child but his existence was so despised that some players commented online that [The Devs are just using his past as an excuse. They tried to make us sympathize with him but honestly, that’s just pathetic].

The heroines are cute and the artworks are top-notch.

The scenario is also quite well thought out.

However, because of the existence of Akechi Hideyori, some players even went out of their way to review bombed the game.

There were cases where such scummy and vile characters became more popular than the protagonist because they can make the players sympathize with them but this guy alone became famous through the sheer hatred from the playerbase.

You may have never played the game before but the name Akechi Hideyori already has a level of notoriety on its own.

The voice actor for him is also very talented but immediately after he worked on Hideyori, his other voice-over works stopped coming which ended up making him work exclusively as the voice of Hideyori. In other words, his existence even caused trouble for the person who portrayed him.

Furthermore, he can only live until he’s 16 – 18 years old.

The reason why his time of death varied is that [Breaking the Chain of Sadness], this masterpiece is actually a series consisting of three games.

Each game takes place for one school year.

As you play through the trilogy, you will follow Juumonji Takeru from his enrollment into high school until his graduation.

In the first game, Hideyori was fated to die at the end of each individual heroine’s route.

However, if the player did not end up with any heroine, Hideyori would avoid the fate of death.

In the second one, Hideyori would die at the end of each individual heroine’s route as well but just like in the first game, if the player did not end up with any heroine, Hideyori would once again survive.

However, in the last game, dubbed the Final Season, his fate is sealed.

Certainly, there are Bad Ends where the protagonists and the heroines would die while Hideyori survives but literally no one would consider such endings canon.

In any case, mountains of such memories of the game are flooding into his head.……….

“No way…., did I reincarnate as Hideyori……?”

In the first game, it was revealed that Hideyori commanded his abusive uncle to commit suicide using his [Dominating Decree].

No matter how I think about it, this is me right…….

“Uwahhhhhhh, w, w, w, w, what the hell…….”

Because of my uncle’s abuse, the memories from my past life and the memories about the game have manifested.

Naturally, as someone who’d played the game, I also hate Hideyori……..
