51 Food Is The Fastest Way To The Heart
"That's insane!" Kaden said as Dave talked about how he died. The only way someone would be able to spot someone who had a class like Dave would be someone who had either a high rank or a class trained to spot certain things.
"What rank were you before you died?" Kaden questioned.
"I was rank B+ and almost at A-." Dave said proudly.
This was quite an impressive accomplishment. Just because someone had a class that could be SS or SSS+ like Kaden's didn't mean that they would get that high. All sorts of training and other circumstances depending on the class determine whether or not you reach the predicted rank or a higher rank.
In Dave's case since his projected rank was at S- getting to B+ was harder for him than it would be for Kaden in most cases. This only furthered how impressive his rank was but the thing now is, how could someone like him get destroyed by the person with the Kitsune mask?
"That's quite impressive. We will hopefully get you back to that rank as soon as possible and then go even further." Kaden said with a smile.
Kaden finally decided not to worry about the Kitsune mask person because he was sure he would find out more as he visited the ramen shop and even apparently in the school. n--OvεLB1n
Kaden then went into his closet and found an old spare mattress that he had put in there in case of an emergency or someone spent the night. While he may have called it old, the original wrapping was still on it and looked brand new due to no one ever coming over since he has lived here.
Kaden laid the mattress down in the middle of the living room and covered it with spare blankets and pillows that he had found in the closet as well. Once he was done making the bed he turned towards Dave, "This is where you will be sleeping from now on." Kaden said to him which took him aback.
"You're letting me stay with you? I thought you would make me leave or something. I can't say I was the greatest person when I was alive." Dave said in confusion.
Kaden thought for a moment to himself about what to say in this situation but after a few moments, he cursed at himself for trying to make it more complicated than it is, "Well the way I think of it is like this. What you did before you died is what you did with the old you. Now that you are under my command and have now died you could consider yourself reborn and none of the things you did before will have any consequence on the new you. Just consider it a brand new start." Kaden said explaining his thought process.
Devin seemed taken back by Kaden's way of thinking. He didn't expect that someone Kaden's age would even be able to think in such a deep way but that just made his loyalty and happiness towards his new boss even more apparent, "Well thank you boss- I mean Kaden for this opportunity. I will do my best to fulfill all your future desires and orders." Dave said with a smile.
"Good go to sleep, for now, we will talk more in the morning." Kaden said to him before leaving the room and going back to his own room. Dave had no objection to this and also laid down in his own new room before falling asleep shortly after. Kaden took a bit longer to fall asleep as he replayed all of today's events in his mind. From the gym all the way to Dave Kaden felt that there was a lot to digest and think about moving forward but the more he thought about it the sleepier he got until he fell asleep.
The morning came quickly for Kaden as his body was awakened once more by his obnoxious alarm, "YOU BETTER WAKE UP RIGHT NOW OR I WILL DO A FRONT FLIP ON YOUR FACE AND CALL IT A DAY!" Screamed Kaden's alarm from his phone.
Once he silenced the absurd sounds he made his way into the living room where there was already an amazing smell wafting through the room. It smelled so amazing that Kaden was slightly drooling, 'Who's making food?' He thought in his half-awoken state.
Once he walked into the kitchen he saw something that left him quite honestly left him scared and a little confused. Dave was currently wearing an apron and had a bandanna around his forehead while sweat was dripping down his face. He was currently moving back and forth in the kitchen moving different pans and flipping different items as he made different breakfast foods such as pancakes and eggs.
"You know how to cook?" Kaden asked as he made his way to the kitchen where Dave was.
Kaden's voice broke Dave out of his immense concentration and he showed Kaden a smile, "Good morning to you! Yes I do know how to cook it is actually one of my favorite hobbies although it was quite frowned upon in the Diamond Brigade." He said frowning when he mentioned the group that he was formerly in.
"Well I'm glad you're cooking now because this smells absolutely amazing." Kaden said praising him with his eyes on the food that was being cooked. If stares could consume food then all of the food would have already disappeared as Kaden stared at it hungrily. Normally Kaden only ate a bowl of cereal or some sort of bar to start off the day because he wasn't hungry or in the mood for anything else when he first woke up but the longer Kaden looked at Dave's food the more hungry he got.
When Dave heard Kaden's compliment he began cooking even more intensely. It was almost like he had a new surge of energy go through his body and Kaden didn't want to damage that with conversation so he just sat down patiently waiting for the moment he could take a bite of that delicious smelling food.
