182 – Picking Up the Pieces
Landing on rock was softer than it should have been, Tansy had formed a slide for them to hit the ground with, and Saffira had twisted in to take the blow of hitting it. Very chivalrous, but it still left Brandy gasping. Being blown up was weirdly exhausting; the thump of pressure that rolled over your body and left it feeling like jelly, and landing on top of a hot lady wasn't worth that price. There were more fun ways to get turned to jelly.
"Is everyone okay?" Brandy groaned, trying to lift her head to look about. "I lost my feeling in everything."
"They're good," Saffira said with a squeeze around Brandy's side. "You feel very soft if it helps. Explosion's a kickass disabling Move, but it wears off. Just give it a second."
Brandy hoped it did. The best she could do was flop against Saffira as she tried to get a look about, the fit woman cooing under her as their bodies rubbed together.
Fuck, things were a mess. Blue and red stone surrounded a massive ball of blue fire in the middle of the tracks, softly roaring as it seemed to pulse and pick up shards of blue and red rock around it. It hurt to look at, so Brandy didn't and took in the damage instead.
The minecarts had come right off the tracks and spread about everywhere, three suspended on rock spires that Tansy or Calcine must have summoned. A Noibat was laid atop one. Her wings splayed down the sides of it as she groaned. Sparky and Morgan had ended up in a heap together, Sparky's butt stuck up in the air as she lay face down in one of Morgan's outstretched wings. Somehow, Morgan's hat had stayed on as she lay spreadeagled out on the floor, twitching as she tried to move.
"Hey, Sparky," Morgan groaned. "Guess why she's called Nova."
"Tell me. I'll Nova guess it right." Sparky snorted into her feathers.
"If I could move, I'd slap you."
"But you can't!" Sparky wiggled her butt in the air. "Hah. You've no-vay of stopping me. Get it? No-vay."
"Calcine, are you about? Slap this Bug for me, please."
"Busy," Calcine called out, lying atop two Noibat slowly sinking into the rock. She smiled when Brandy looked her way and tipped her head. One Noibat popped like a soap bubble while the other huffed. Calcine leaned to give her chest a squeeze and make her titter. "They're behaving. Don't know how you stopped the scream, but it worked."
Saffira was wriggling under Brandy, trying to lift herself up to look. "Holy shit, is that a Carkol?"
"Yeah, that's Calcine. She's one of my Partners."
"You're dating a Carkol! I'm so fucking jealous. They're so cool."
Brandy felt a little swell of pride in her chest. "She's very cool. You've no idea how awesome she is. Whatever you're imagining, double it."
"You hear this, Sparky?" Morgan groaned again. "We get no love."
"Should rebel." Sparky nodded, "No fighting until we get kisses and compliments."
Speaking of Sparky, she could be useful right now.
"Good eyes gang time," Brandy said as she wobbled to her feet. "Can you spot her Roost hidey hole?"
"The giant fireball that is Saffira's girlfriend makes it hard to see anything," Sparky grumbled, shading her eyes with a hand. "Better vision doesn't like bright lights."
"Nova is a firecracker," Saffira grinned, staring at the blue flame the stones and gems were sinking into. "She'll put herself together in a min and stop blinding you all with how awesome she is. At least she's casting strong shadows?"
An interesting idea. Did Roost's camouflage hide the shadows it cast? Pokémon Moves were incredibly powerful. They didn't really have to make any sense.
"Sparky, need to spot the difference. Come shade yourself on my side." Brandy said, beckoning her over. Sparky danced lightly to nuzzle up to her side. "If she's cloaking, it'll look different for us both."
"You're so much shadier these days," Sparky nudged her head into the side of Brandy's breast. "Love it. Okay, you point at shadows. I'll follow your finger."
Morgan and Saffira busied themselves, taking care of the stunned Noibats that Calcine hadn't handled as Brandy traced the shadows on the ceiling. She stuck to the bigger pieces, which meant it didn't take long to find a lumpy outcrop whose shadows didn't quite match up to what they were both seeing.
"Web her up?" Brandy shrugged. Just because it was obvious didn't mean it wasn't the right move.
"Of course!" Sparky said, lashing her hands forward and sending out twin lines of electrified webs. She stuck them on either side of the suspicious lump, twisted one web line in her fingers, and pulled it around the other, raveling up the webs and causing it to snap tight over the outcrop.
The Roost illusion popped to reveal two Noibat with outstretched wings that were undulating as something inside them pounded away, a gorgeous black ponytail bobbing over the edge, the little bell clasping the end of it tinkling away now that Roost's camouflage had gone. The Noibats had made a ceiling hammock with their wings for Victoria to fuck in. That was an adorable dedication to their Trainer.
Wasn't going to stop Brandy fucking it up.
"Morgan! Astonish, please convince her to get down here."
Morgan burst into a swarm of black feathers and flowed up through the gap of the Noibat's wings. The wings bulged down as the extra weight of it hit her.
Brandy waited a moment. Then, she sighed when she heard kissing noises. She really should have been specific.
"Can you climb up there, Sparky? Bug Bite them all until they come down."
"Bug bite until they all come, understood!" Sparky saluted and scrambled agilely up her webs. She was a fast creature when she wanted to be. The wings bulged further, and a few excited moans rang out, but the Noibat held fast, even if they were sweating buckets.
Brandy huffed in frustration and felt a pat on the arm. Saffira had cozied up beside her and was watching the show. "They'll lose their grip in a minute. It's a good plan. Your team looks like a handful to manage though."
"You have no idea," Brandy snorted. "None at all."
