After school on the day of the broadcast, I was summoned to the student guidance office by Satozaki-sensei.
I reluctantly agreed and headed for the guidance counselor’s office.
I stood in front of the door and knocked twice to open it.
“You’re here.”
Satozaki-sensei said and looked at me.
“Why am I here?”
I asked.
“Do I have to tell you?”
Yes, I know.
It’s almost confirmed that it’s about today’s morning broadcast.
“Yes, I know what you’re talking about.”
The teacher lets out a little sigh.
” Why did you do that?”
Huh?
Why is the teacher talking to me like I did something wrong?
“Can I ask you a question before I answer your question?”
“No, not until you answer my question.”
The teacher gave me a sharp look.
I answered without being intimidated by his gaze.
“I understand, I will answer your question.”
“I just need to know. Why did you do that?”
The teacher asked me the same question again.
“Why? Because it was fun.”
“Fun?”
The teacher’s voice was filled with anger.
“As long as you’re having fun, is doesn’t matter what you do?”
“In fact, I feel so much better.”
I had a sense of déjà vu what the teacher said.
“Sensei, you heard the broadcast, didn’t you?”
I laughed, as if mocking her.
“It was Shiraki who said it”
“….She had her reason.”
The teacher says so after a short pause.
“Haa?”
It almost stuns me.
“Haa, let’s say Shiraki had a reason. Would that be a reason to hurt someone?”
“….”
Sensei fell silent.
I was disappointed in Sensei.
She was a very strict but kind teacher who cared about her students, but that was completely gone from my mind.
“Sensei, you should scold Shiraki first. Why are you scolding me before Shiraki?”
“I’ve already talked to Shiraki.”
“I see. Then why are you talking like I’m to blame for everything?”
“Shinzaki, that’s not true!”
“What is not true? Then, why did you say something like defending Shiraki just now?”
She looked as if she was wondering whether or not to say anything before speaking.
“It was because I heard Shiraki’s true feelings.”
What is she talking about?
“She’s the kind of person who enjoys toying with people.”
I said coldly.
I thought there was no point in talking any more, so I turned on my feet and left the guidance counselor’s office.
“Ah, that’s right, Sensei”
I said, as if remembering.
“W-What is it?”
“I told you I had a question for you, right?”
I turned to face the teacher.
“Why am I being called into the guidance counselor’s office for being the victim?”
“Don’t you know why?”
The teacher looks a little puzzled.
“Because I was betrayed by Shiraki and was disgusted with her, so I just tried to get revenge on her, is that it?”
“Shinzaki! There are things you are allowed to do and things you are not allowed to do!”
“What is it that I’m doing wrong?”
“….Ha?”
I’m the one who’s confused.
Why should I be looked at like that?
I was wrapped in discomfort.
“I’m done.”
I walk toward the door.
“Shinzaki! Wait!”
I leave the guidance counselor’s office without listening to her words.
“If you keep this up, you’re going to break someday!”
I start walking down the hallway.
“I knew this was going to happen.”
Just before I left the guidance counselor’s office, I thought I heard something, but I couldn’t quite make it out.
Leaving the guidance counselor’s office, I walked back to my house.
Walking towards my room.
I haven’t talked to my sister at all recently.
When I try to talk to her, she ignores me.
If that was the case, it would be best if I didn’t talk to her either.
Just as I was thinking that, there was a knock at my room door.
I open the door, feeling a little uncomfortable.
There stood my sister.
“Why did you do that at school today?”
How did she know I did it?
Aah, I told her before that I was dating Shiraki, so it is natural that I was the only one who would do something like that.
I answer my own questions in such a way.
The same question. I answer with some annoyance.
“It’s revenge.”
“You!”
My sister raised her voice.
“There are things you can do and things you can’t do!”
There it is again.
“What makes it what I’m doing wrong?”
Maybe if it’s my sister, she knows.
“….Ha? What are you talking about?”
Her expression was a mixture of confusion and a little fear.
“Like I said, what did I do that was wrong?”
I continued.
“Of course it’s Shiraki’s fault.”
“Are you serious?”
My sister’s expression was the same as before, but I could see the fear in her eyes.
“I have it enough.”
I was about to close the door to my room when she gave me an answer that didn’t seem to satisfy me.
“Wait a minute!”
My sister slides her hand between the door and the wall to stop me.
“What?”
I said with a hint of hatred on my face.
“W-What’s with that face?”
You’re so annoying.
“It’s nothing.”
“It can’t be nothing!”
Tsk
“I SAID IT’S NOTHING!”
I say as if yelling at her.
“Hii!”
My sister screams, perhaps startled by the sudden yell.
I closed the door of my room while looking at my sister’s face.
For some reason, my mind flashed back to the sad faces of Himari and the teacher at school, and the frightened look on my sister’s face.
