Chapter 85 - "An Unlikely Proposal"

“I was wondering the same thing on the train, what the h*ll are you thinking?”

Kasumi cast a wary glance at Nagisa.

Not only did they make up, Nagisa became more docile after Yō had coaxed her.

However, Kasumi, who had been pushed into a corner once before, was having a hard time trusting Nagisa.

It was this feeling of suspicion that made her wonder if Nagisa had done something to Yō when he had cut her off in the past.

“I’m not trying to be devious. I just wanted to make a suggestion.”

“A suggestion?”

While Nagisa smiled, Kasumi tilted her head unhappily.

The fact that she had just brought it up after Yō had disappeared made Kasumi even more wary.

Nagisa was aware of this from her expression, but she didn’t seem to be particularly bothered by it and continued to explain with a smile.

“There’s a possibility that Yō could make both of you happy.”

“What’s that? It smells too fishy to me.”

“Really, all you do is shoo people away when Yō-kun is not around. It should be a good thing for you and for Marin-chan.”

“…………”

Nagisa said dismissively, and Kasumi began to glare at Nagisa, as if this plan had upset her.

This made Marin, not Nagisa, look uncomfortable.

“Well, well, it seems that Nagisa-chan has something to tell us, so why don’t we start by asking her? Right?”

Kasumi was clearly in a bad mood, but Marin tried to calm her down with a cute smile on her face.

When Nagisa saw this, she realized that she was annoying Marin, and she couldn’t help but chuckle since she was in the opposite position.

“…What the heck are you laughing at?”

The laugh made Kasumi think that Nagisa was making fun of her, and she started to harass her even more.

“No, that was my fault. And I’m sorry Marin-chan, I’m not looking for a fight either.”

“Ah no…”

“Now, let’s get back to the point. If we’re too late, Yō-kun, who has good instincts, will notice what we’re planning.”

“No, I’ll tell him that you are up to something anyway.”

“You should really listen to what I have to say. If you don’t, you’ll end up in a situation that no one wants.”

“That’s…”

Nagisa’s last words made Kasumi choke on her words.

It was something that Kasumi had been feeling for a while.

Looking objectively at Yō’s current relationship with her, and considering how much she missed Marin and Yō’s personality, the future that awaited them was in a quagmire situation.

In the end, it would be a huge burden on Yō.

Kasumi didn’t want that to happen either.

That’s why she wanted to divert Marin’s attention away from Yō as soon as possible.

She still doesn’t seem to really like Yō enough to be dependent on him.

Even Kasumi’s jealousy seems to be just the grumpy mood of a pet that doesn’t want its owner to be stolen.

But it’s just only a matter of time.

If Marin stays with Yō for far too long, she will surely fall in love with him and want to spend all her time with him.

―That’s how it was for her in the past.

That’s why she wanted to separate Marin from Yō while she still could.

If she could show Marin, who hated conflict, that she and Yō were compatible, she would quickly change her mind.

That’s what Kasumi was thinking.

“I’m sure Kasumi-chan understands that, too. So―”

“―You’re right, we need to make sure that we’re on the same page here.”

“Can you please just listen to me seriously?”

When Kasumi interrupted her, Nagisa’s voice dropped a few tones, as if she had reached the end of her patience.

This caused Kasumi to jolt her shoulders and half-unconsciously she grabbed the sleeve of Marin’s dress.

(I couldn’t believe it until I saw it in person… but she really is a child inside… even though she usually gives off an adult vibe.)

Marin felt that she could understand why Yō couldn’t leave Kasumi alone.

“I-If you have something to say, just say it.”

“Kasumi-chan has been interrupting you for a while now, hasn’t she…?”

Nagisa’s shoulders slumped as if she was tired.

She stared at Kasumi’s face, thinking that she was still a pain in the @ss.

After that, Nagisa made a serious expression and started looking at Kasumi and Marin’s faces alternately.

And then―

“My suggestion is that you two become Yō-kun’s girlfriends.”

―She threw out an unorthodox suggestion to the two of them.
