48 Kiss Vs Kill

“HAH!!” Yang Ning bolted when she snapped her eyes open in startle and regained her consciousness. Her hands were still trembling when she remembered how she almost died by drowning in the deep lake.

She wanted to die and return to her world but when she jumped into the cold water, she realized that she is still not ready to sacrifice her life for the sake of a 50-50 possibility of returning to her world, alive.

However, it was too late for her to regret her decision and back out from it. Because despite her wanting to swim to the shores and struggles, this weak body of Yang Ning didn’t comply with her brain’s commands.

Not only did Yang Ning not know how to swim, but also her long and heavy skirt was one of the major reasons for her not being able to swim to the shore of the lake as well.

“Xiaowei, did you save me earlier? I remember drowning in the lake but have no memories about what happened afterward.” Yang Ning asked while sipping on the warm water that Xiaowei got for her.

Xiaowei, who was adjusting Yang Ning’s blanket, froze upon hearing her question. She pursed her lips and looked at her hesitantly before saying, ” Milady, are you sure you do not remember anything?”

Yang Ning raised her brows at her in confusion and shook her head. Has she forgotten something important?

Xiaowei cleared her throat and said, “Milady, You have been unconscious for the whole day. The incident you’re speaking about occurred yesterday.”

Yang Ning was speechless when she found out that she has been sleeping since yesterday. However, to her, it feels as if it happened only in the morning.

” Since you were unconscious and weren’t waking up, he held you in his arms and brought you to the Yang Household on his horse. Not only that, but he also asked the Head Physician from the Imperial Medicine Department to treat you.” Xiaowei told Yang Ning about how the Crown Prince took care of her, while Chang Ah and the Lord Yang Luoyang were ready to berate her for coming back in such an embarrassing state.

Yang Ning was lost in deep thought when she heard Xiaowei’s question, “Milady, what happened to you yesterday when I was not around? How did you fall into the lake? Do you know how worried I was to see you in such a miserable condition? You are not well yet, how can you go near the lake?”

Yang Ning coughed on the warm water that she was drinking and took the napkin from Xiaowei to wipe her mouth. “I....wasn’t trying to jump into the lake. I was simply admiring the clean water of the lake and was washing my face with the cold water when I slipped and fell into the water.”

” It wasn’t my intention to bother anyone. I am sorry.” Yang Ning said while pouting her lips, feeling sad for troubling everyone. Xiaowei’s tired expressions were telling her how worried she was about her and she must have spent the whole night taking care of her.

However, she was trying to hide her real intent by acting cute because she cannot afford Xiaowei to doubt her about it.

If she were to find out that she is not the real Yang Ning but an imposter who is pretending to be her, she must be upset about it.

How can she tell her that it wasn’t a mistake but she was trying to take her life by jumping into the deep lake?

She does not want to lose a friend who has taken care of her even in the worst situation possible.
