66 Little Misunderstanding.

“YOUR HIGHNESS!!” The guards, who came running greeted Zheng Liang simultaneously when they finally caught up to him.

They were so worried when he left early, without waiting for them. They haven’t had the trap laid down for the bear yet. How will they catch him without any proper planning?

His eyes widened in surprise as he wasn’t expecting the bear to be killed so soon. He looked at Zheng Liang in surprise and admiration.

“YOUR HIGHNESS, YOU ALREADY KILLED THE BEAR? AS EXPECTED OF OUR CROWN PRINCE.” The guard praised him in admiration, meanwhile the other guards followed his suit and sang praises of him.

Zheng Liang pursed his lips and cleared his throat in embarrassment before saying, ” Stop it. It wasn’t me.”

“Yes? Ah....then...Guard Gu Lan, did you kill the bear while saving Lady Yang Ning? How can you handle the wild bear alone? That’s why you’re the leader of our unit.” The guard turned to Gu Lan when Zheng Liang said he did not kill the bear.

He once again started to sing the praises of Gu Lan upon finding out that it was he who hunted down the bear while the other guards nodded in agreement. ” Yes. In this capital, only you can show this kind of brave action.”

Since he left with Yang Ning earlier, it was understandable that he killed the bear to protect her.

All guards belong to the unit of guards who are meant to protect the Crown Prince and Gu Lan was their head and also the personal guard of Zheng Liang, who tags along everywhere with him. That’s why he allotted him to escort Lady Yang Ning since he trusts Gu Lan the most.

Zheng Liang glanced at Gu Lan and did not comment when the guards misunderstood and were praising Gu Lan. Because he was still angry at him for leaving Yang Ning alone and not protecting her.

Even though she is safe, it was his duty to look after her and he broke his command by not escorting her to the Yang Household.

He gave him such a big responsibility. How can he ignore his words and be so irresponsible to leave them alone?

He was angry. However, he was trying to restrain his temper because it was not the right time to deal with him. He will deal with him upon reaching the palace.

Gu Lan is his right hand and has always followed his commands without questioning anything. Whenever he opens his mouth, he only gives good advice that only helps him with problems. However, today not only has he disregarded his commands but also put the life of Yang Ning in danger as well.

If something had happened to Yang Ning by the bear’s attack, he would have never been able to forgive Gu Lan nor himself.

Upon hearing the praises by the guards, Gu Lan sneakily glanced at Zheng Liang and felt even more guilty after hearing this.

All guards were praising him for saving the life of lady Yang Ning but in reality, he did not do anything. It was all because of her quick-wittedness and bravery that both Yang Ning and Xiaowei were safe and sound.

Otherwise, this emotional moment would have transformed into a tragedy.

“I didn’t do anything.” Gu Lan said and looked away from the guards, who were looking at him in admiration.

“Guard Gu Lan, why are you shying away from accepting the compliment? You deserve it since you accomplished such a big feat. We all should celebrate it tonight. What do you say, Guard Gu Lan?” The guard said to which the other guards also agreed and shouted, ” YES! WE SHOULD CELEBRATE.”

He deserves to be praised if he did a great thing. How can they not celebrate when he killed the wild bear that they were looking for so long?

Gu Lan gritted his teeth and wanted to break the teeth of the guard who was leading the other guards to praise him.

He is already standing at the edge of the cliff, yet he keeps pushing him down. His Highness is already angry with him, if he keeps praising him like this for something he didn’t even do, he is not sure what His Highness is going to do then.

“That’s not it. I wasn’t the one who protected Lady Yang Ning and killed the bear. It was-” Gu Lan tried to explain, however before he could complete his words, he was interrupted by Xiaowei’s happy cries.

“My lady....I still cannot believe that I am alive and still breathing. I was so shocked earlier when I saw the bear sprinting towards me. It was so scary.”

” Thank you so much. Thank you for saving my life. You’re my savior!! I should have been the one saving you but you saved my life instead. How can you kill the bear with only one shot? I was so shocked earlier and wasn’t sure if I was seeing it right.” Xiaowei thanked and praised Yang Ning at the same time while sobbing and hugging her.

She cannot be luckier than this.
