The sunset colored the blue sky, and every inch was pale pink, showing the infinite brilliance of the setting sun. The students and staff at Medical University A slowly started to return home. The number of people on the road home slowly increased.
On the way back, there was a very unique scenery, which was called “The July Seventh Incident” by the gossipy people. Why did people call it that? Because the cold prince that everyone thought was gay had a mysterious woman by his side right now. The two of them were holding hands intimately, and they even hugged each other.
They were in public, and they were showing their deep affection for each other?
Song Anchen’s leaned forward slightly, his hands crossed in front of his chest as he spoke next to Yisheng’s ear. This action was normal to the two of them, but for people that were busy gossiping, it was truly shocking. The result of the July Seventh Incident was that the cold prince failed to find a gay man for a long time, so he was forced to turn straight.
They tried to find out who the mysterious woman was and realized that she was not a student from Medical University A, and got even more confused. Naturally, this was something that happened later. At that moment, when Yisheng heard Song Anchen’s response, she blinked, confused, “What does this have to do with you being a picky-eater?”
Song Anchen said, “Normally if you’ve eaten a meat and you’ve gotten addicted to it, you’ll be allergic to other meat.”
For Yisheng, who liked to read girly novels, she understood what he was saying. Instantly, her face turned extremely red, and she coughed a few times, changing the topic, “Stop dilly-dallying, let’s go visit your teacher now.”
Song Anchen’s eyes narrowed, his dark eyes had his own unique aura. It was not breathtaking, but enough to make her feel frightened. Yisheng turned her head away, not looking at his eyes. She tidied up the hair in front of her forehead and looked away.
“Let’s go,” Song Anchen was not forceful at all, he understood her too well. She was a rabbit, a fluffy rabbit that would not bite people and instead, would pretend to be dead when she got anxious. He had to first appease her, and only after that would it be easier for him to make a move.
Yisheng looked at Song Anchen, who had started walking off. She secretly poked out her tongue. She was very scared that he would bring up old matters. When she remembered how she had forced herself on her childhood sweetheart when she was young before running away and getting away with it. Right now, what she was most scared of was not Song Anchen himself, but him bringing up old matters.
Professor Zhou was reading a book, standing in front of a desk, wearing a pair of reading glasses, his hair grey. He did not look very old, but he had a lot of features that made him seem older. This was Yisheng’s first impression on meeting Professor Zhou.
As soon as Song Anchen entered the room, Professor Zhou removed his reading glasses, blinking his bleary eyes. Professor Zhou raised his eyes tiredly to look at Song Anchen, “Anchen, I’ve helped you submit your academic paper for publishing. If nothing goes wrong, it should be accepted.
The school has asked me recently if you’re willing to be a teaching assistant in school?”
“I won’t be a teaching assistant, it’s quite good working in the hospital.”
Professor Zhou expressed that he understood. He glanced at Yisheng, who was standing behind Song Anchen the whole time. His eyes had originally been slightly narrowed, but when he saw who had arrived, his eyes widened, very shocked, “Ah, isn’t this Anchen’s girlfriend?” After he said that, he smiled as he walked towards Yisheng, looking at her up and down before he smiled kindly, “You’re a lot prettier than in the photos.”
Yisheng was quite surprised and looked at Song Anchen, puzzled. She saw Song Anchen smile and say to Professor Zhou, “We don’t have work today.”
Professor Zhou nodded and told Yisheng, “You’re called Ye Yisheng, right?” Professor Zhou continued to smile and look at her. Yisheng was a little stunned, Professor Zhou was acting so familiar with her that she felt confused, and could only nod her head hesitantly.
“I’ve known you for five years now. I’ve always known that Anchen has a girlfriend, but that child said that you’re studying elsewhere and can’t come. I think the truth is that he couldn’t bear to let me see you,” He smiled heartily and turned his head back to look at Song Anchen, “You can finally bear to let me see your darling?”
“The ugly daughter-in-law has to see her in-laws someday. Of course I have to let my teacher take a look,” When he lied, Song Anchen’s expression never changed. In fact, he did not even twitch an eyelid, with a smile in his eyes, looking harmless.
The corner of Yisheng’s mouth twitched. She felt a little uncomfortable like she was having indigestion.
Professor Zhou nodded his head in understanding, and begun to discuss some academic problems with Song Anchen. Song Anchen sat down and glanced at Yisheng, who was standing at the side and looking at him. He smiled and said, “You can sit on the sofa and read the newspaper for a while, be good.”
(T/N: ‘be good’ sounds super weird, but I guess it’s kinda like a cute thing in Chinese…? It’s hard to convey this in English… D: )
When the words ‘be good’ left his mouth, his thin lips curved up, his tone was soft, when an outsider heard those words, there would be a slightly numb feeling. For Yisheng, those words were like 100,000 volts, directly burning her.
“Aiya, Anchen, I know that you can’t bear to leave your girlfriend alone, I won’t hold you back for too long,” Professor Zhou pretended to be jealous, his tone sour.
“I can’t help it, I’m already used to it,” Song Anchen smiled naturally. He made it seem like it had really become a habit for him. Yisheng could not stand it anymore. She had never realized that Song Anchen had such a shameless side to him. To give him face, she decided to stay silent. She sat on the sofa and started to hold up the newspaper, glancing at it. However, she was distracted and could not absorb what she was reading. She secretly raised her gaze to glance towards Song Anchen and saw that he was listening to his teacher seriously and meticulously. That seriousness made Yisheng recall Song Anchen’s habit from when he was young.
He was the kind of person that would not do something if he was not interested in it, but when he was interested in something, he would become the best. In the past, her mother would keep scolding her about spending too much time resting and lacking perseverance. Unlike Song Anchen, who was very resilient, and would keep on doing things that he wanted to do.
Yisheng felt that if you thought about it positively, you could say that he was persistent, but if you wanted to describe this negatively, you would say that he was inflexible. She did not want to be like him. She lifted her head and gave him a despising glance. However, she happened to meet his occasionally raised eyes. He gave her a brilliant smile.
Yisheng could guarantee that his smile was definitely not friendly.
“Cough cough,” When Professor Zhou saw the two of them giving each other ‘romantic glances’, he coughed to remind them of his presence. Yisheng instantly retracted back till she was hidden behind the newspaper, wondering why Song Anchen would smile so brilliantly at her for no reason.
She tried her best to glance at the newspaper in her hand but she had no interest in it. It was full of medical terms, and she had memorized many of them in university, so when she looked at them, she felt nauseous. She had no choice but to rest her cheek on her hand and look at the two scholars discussing their academic papers, her expression bored.
She felt more and more bored, and in the end, she fell asleep…
