A Bug in the Game
With a divine weapon in hand, the world is mine!
Meng Jingtian almost exploded from confidence. Grasping Stupa, which had transformed into a large saber, he strode out of the city as swiftly as a comet.
Cai Minghou was still in jail and waiting to be saved. Meng Jingtian was planning to finish off Rupud’s mission as quickly as possible so that he could head off for Black Tortoise City.
He was now heading out of the city to kill a few boars for their tusks.
He had already checked on the forums. To the north of Seaside City was the ocean and to the south was a major road, flanked by forests which had numerous wild monsters.
When he arrived at the gate, in a dark corner, Bai Wensheng waved at a player next to him, his eyes flashing with hatred.
The other player looked uneasily at Bai Wensheng and warned, “You’d better keep your end of the deal!”
“Do I need to trick you? Hurry up! He’s about to leave the city!” Bai Wensheng urged.
Customer support had already sent a reply saying that all the data had checked out and that Meng Jingtian had not cheated. As for that ‘God Forsaken’ debuff, it was the effect of a normal skill and he should seek out a method in the game to remove it.
This reply almost made Bai Wensheng lose it, but he couldn’t do anything about it. ‘Tomorrow’ was published by the United Nations, and no matter how many complaints he sent, he wouldn’t be able to change a thing.
In the end, he could only put all the blame on Meng Jingtian.
Bai Wensheng was a very petty person. He now hated Meng Jingtian to the bones, finding not one good thing to say about him.
Moreover, Meng Jingtian’s hawking of those ‘divine potions’ had vexed Bai Wensheng so much that he couldn’t even grind. His mind was so focused on revenge that he couldn’t think about anything else.
Thus, he decided to go back to the city and keep an eye out for Meng Jingtian.
“Stop!”
Just when Meng Jingtian was about to step out of the city, a player jumped out in front of him.
“What’s this? A robbery?” This guy jumping out in front of him was almost exactly like a highway bandit, and Meng Jingtian couldn’t help but laugh.
The man clearly felt rather embarrassed, and then he yelled at Meng Jingtian, “Cheating dog! You loser! What this old man hates the most is people who ruin the fairness of games! Don’t even think about leaving this city today!”
“Cheating?” Meng Jingtian paused and looked around. As expected, he saw Bai Wensheng standing in a corner, watching with folded arms.
“Stand aside!” Meng Jingtian frowned and took a step to the side.
The game had only just opened, and he hadn’t offended that many people. There was only one person who stubbornly believed that he was cheating, and that was Bai Wensheng.
This player was clearly under Bai Wensheng’s command. Meng Jingtian didn’t know what he was up to, but he had no desire to wrangle with him.
Moreover, Bai Wensheng had commanded this player to block his way instead of doing so himself. There was clearly some sort of scheme afoot!
“I already said that you shouldn’t even think about leaving the city today!” The player once more stood in Meng Jingtian’s path.
Virtual online games weren’t like those antique online games from more than one hundred years ago. In front of him was not some illusory image. It was impossible to just walk through another person.
Seeing that this person wasn’t dropping it, Meng Jingtian decided to just walk over to Bai Wensheng.
To his surprise, Bai Wensheng was an utter coward. The moment he saw Meng Jingtian come over, he took to his heels.
“Pah.” Meng Jingtian, who had always regarded himself as a very composed person, couldn’t help but spit in disgust. This guy really lived up to his reputation as the most repulsive player in ‘Grand Desolation’. But this disgusting person really did have some skill.
At this moment, he hated himself for not adding a few points to Agility, preventing him from getting past this player under Bai Wensheng’s command and leaving the city.
A few moments later, Meng Jingtian lost his patience and pointed Stupa at this player called Cao Yang. “Are you letting me through or not?!”
“No way! I’m not letting you through! What can you do? Come at me!” Cao Yang smugly declared, seeming to have taken to his role.
“You really think this old man won’t dare?” Meng Jingtian angrily said.
He was sure that this fellow was no match for him, but since this fellow had come here on Bai Wensheng’s direction, there had to be some sort of trap!
“Stop blabbing! Come at me if you’ve got the guts! Put your saber right here!” Cao Yang pointed right at his neck.
Fwoosh!
Hot blood gushed out.
With a casual swing of his saber, Meng Jingtian took more than 2000 HP from Cao Yang and turned him into a white beam of light.
“Bah! What a scoundrel! He deserved it!” Meng Jingtian spat. This fellow was truly just asking for it, so it didn’t matter if there was a trap. Kill and ask questions later!
“Arrest him! Daring to commit murder in the city! Seize him at once!” With his actions, Meng Jingtian seemed to walk right into Bai Wensheng’s trap.
Bai Wensheng suddenly returned with a group of city guards, heartily laughing as he pointed at Meng Jingtian.
Meng Jingtian narrowed his eyes, instantly understanding Bai Wensheng’s goal. Although Seaside City was a small city, it was also a proper city, a safe zone!
In the many games he had played before this, someone who killed another person in a safe zone would end up being jailed by the NPCs.
Moreover, Bai Wensheng was the son of the city guard captain.
Meng Jingtian’s expression turned grave.
Ah, I was too careless and couldn’t restrain myself!
He just had to be prepared to run out of the city. His only hope was that the city guards couldn’t instantly kill him. Otherwise, he really would have fallen into that scoundrel’s trap!
However, to the surprise of both Bai Wensheng and Meng Jingtian, the ten-some guards Bai Wensheng had brought pretended not to hear. They calmly stood behind Bai Wensheng and stared into the distance, not even glancing at Bai Wensheng.
“Are you all deaf? Or blind? Arrest him!” Bai Wensheng turned to one of the guards and raged.
Meng Jingtian looked at this nearby guard’s Friendliness and smiled in understanding. He was afraid that Bai Wensheng was going to be disappointed!
“My apologies. This time, do you want to return to the spawn point yourself, or do you want me to send you?” It was good enough that he hadn’t gone to Bai Wensheng to settle accounts, but this fellow still dared to come and find him? Meng Jingtian narrowed his eyes at the fuming Bai Wensheng as he spoke.
Bai Wensheng shivered and then immediately turned to run.
Meng Jingtian coldly chuckled and spat out two words: “Divine Punishment!”
Crack!
A white bolt of lightning flashed down. As if it had a guidance system installed, it accurately picked Bai Wensheng out from all the other players in the city and descended upon his head.
“-5888” A number popped up in the combat log as Bai Wensheng transformed into a beam of light.
One could say that unless it was a Level 20 player who had put all his points into Constitution, no one in this early stage of the game could take a ‘Divine Punishment’ from Meng Jingtian.
This was the difference between ‘man’ and ‘god’. He had to admit that this skill was like a bug in the game!
No, Meng Jingtian’s character was a bug in the game!
