Chapter 21: Green Dragon Princess

“Be quiet!”

Amongst the reed.

A ranger with a full beard hurriedly placed his index finger on top of his lips and tried his best to stop him as he asked, “Joanne?! Have you forgotten what I told you before this?”

“I told you to remain silent whenever you’re in the swamp!”

The young girl behind him who couldn’t control herself stuck out her tongue and finally calmed herself down from the excitement.

She bent down, kept her position low, and looked at the situation of the Jackal Monster’s Settlement.

“That’s weird, why is there no one... Ahhhhhh!”

Joanne was mumbling to herself as she squatted on the floor. Suddenly, she let out an unexpectedly loud cry!

“Joanne!”

The bearded man furiously turned around and was about to start nagging at his sister.

“I already told you to... Ahh!”

Just like Joanne, he was shocked by the scene that he saw and let out a scream as a reflex.

“Eric, you can’t blame me for this.”

Joanne replied, as if she was wronged.

Just a few meters away from them.

A masked man, who was holding onto a sword, was staring at the duo.

“What are the two of you doing?”

Roger asked in a low, calm voice.

“Please do not misunderstand!”

“We’re just passing by here.”

The bearded man called Eric seemed like an experienced man. He raised both of his arms in the air and asked sincerely, “May I ... please stand up?”

Roger replied, “Sure.”

“Thank you... We were really just passing by and got curious when we saw the corpses of the jackal monsters, which is why we came over here to take a look. We had no other intentions!”

Eric was worried that Roger might misunderstand their intentions.

“Oh really? My partner has just finished killing those monsters and the two of you appeared. Was it really a coincidence?”

Roger’s tone gradually became more and more stern.

“Or perhaps both of you had already been following behind us and were waiting for the right opportunity?”

He was testing them to figure out when the two of them had arrived.

At the same time, he also wanted to let them know that he wasn’t alone.

And, as expected.

Eric immediately started explaining in a nervous tone, “Sir, I swear that we did not notice you or your partner before this and definitely wasn’t following you...”

“We were just passing by!”

Roger continued to pretend as if he didn’t believe them and sneered, “Why would ordinary people like you pass by such a dangerous place?”

At this moment, the girl called Joanne couldn’t help but interrupt, “Eric is telling the truth. We just left the village this morning, and it’s true that we were just passing by...”

When Eric heard her talking, he became anxious and was hinting at her.

However, Joanne did not understand what her brother was signalling her. So she stupidly kept explaining to Roger.

On the other side, Roger, who bade farewell to the duo, was speeding up his search in the settlement.

He didn’t find any freshwater.

As for food, there were only baskets of wild lettuce.

Roger picked out a few fresh ones and placed them in his backpack.

To be honest, Roger was shocked at how poor these people were in the Jackal Monsters Settlement.

If it wasn’t because of the gold watch and large box of broken silver and gold that he found in the chief’s room, Roger really thought that all his effort had gone to waste.

“This is unbelievable. I barely made enough to cover the cost for maintaining the arrowheads.”

Roger thought to himself about his bad luck.

Then, he picked up a few more wild lettuce before leaving the settlement.

...

After leaving the settlement, Roger headed in the Southwest direction just like what Eric told him.

After a while, there was indeed a distinctive bright yellow soil on the ground in front of him.

As the reeds started retreating, his visual range became much wider than before.

About half an hour later, Roger came onto a road.

There was a sign that was filled with mole:?[Lettuce Avenue]

He continued heading South on the road.

Soon.

There were buildings that appeared on both sides of the road, but all of them looked abandoned.

After another half an hour.

Roger met a white-haired elderly man who was fishing by the pond next to the road.

He contemplated for a while, but he still went up to the elderly man and asked for directions.

The elderly man was cold to him, but he still patiently answered Roger’s question.

From what the elderly man said, Roger got a lot of additional information:

This piece of land is located in the center of the Great Wetlands and is called the Yellow Stone Island.

If he wanted to replenish his supplies, there were two motels along Lettuce Avenue if he continued to head South.

The first one was called Green Dragon Princess.

The elderly man told Roger that it was a slaughter house and that place was extremely dangerous. He warned him not to enter that place!

As for the second shop, it was called Thorns.

This was a much safer option as the owner was an old dwarf man from the hills and he’s very friendly.

He recommended that Roger should go around Green Dragon Princess and directly head towards Thorns.

After hearing all these, Roger thanked the elderly man and continued with his journey.

After ten minutes, he saw the sign board of Green Dragon Princess.

Roger did not stop. He quickened his pace and went past it.

Then, after a while.

He saw Thorn’s signboard.

However, he did not slow down and just went around it.

At noon.

Roger looked at the green canopy that was at a distance and his footsteps finally slowed down.
