Eldrian continued to train in this manner, using Tier 2 spells to get himself into the magic abyss. While doing this he made sure to rest enough in between each attempt so as to keep his fatigue from growing. Luckily it seemed to grow much slower and he could actually feel when he became too tired and it would lead to a fatigue level gain.
During these rest periods he would converse with Myropsis; who had to go all the way up to Tier 7 magic before she failed in subconsciously stopping the Magic Crystal's influence.
Luckily she had prioritized healing spells for her first spells when trying to reach a new Tier. She did not like being on the front lines and as such she normally learned healing, rejuvenating, and buffing spells first.
As such the spell she was using to practice did not do any damage, though failing to cast it caused her a massive headache and caused her to rest for nearly half an hour each time. The cast failure robbing a great deal of her mana while also tiring her mind greatly.
"You really did this to learn magic?" She asked during one of their breaks that synced up, which was most of them since she had to rest three times longer than Eldrian. She was sweating buckets from the pressure of the spells she was using.
She finally understood why Eldrian had said it would be far harder for her to learn. Tier 7 spells were no joke, similar to Eldrian's case she couldn't really focus on much more than keeping the spell module intact when casting it. Often failing in doing so which led to the backlash.
"Yeah, you need to get good enough to keep the module intact, while leaving some focus to follow your mana. Just make sure you don't go overboard and totally control the module as then the pull will no longer affect you." Eldrian replied, having realized this point when casting spells to relieve the pressure buildup he experienced.
The more time passed the more astonished Myropsis became at how much of a monster Eldrian was. Despite her being Tier 6 in both magic and range, while being Tier 4 in melee, she could barely keep up to his pace of practicing. To make it even more embarrassing he was clearly making great strides with each attempt, while she was still stuck trying to move her focus to her mana.
She knew it was there, how it felt and all that. But she could not shift her willpower to it, she still did not quite understand what she needed to do even if she could. Though she had an idea and that was enough for her to press on.
Nice, I should be able to focus on other things now... Eldrian mumbled as he finally managed to save enough focus. Using this opportunity he started observing the Magic Abyss. Instead of trying to stay in it for as long as possible, he attempted to enter it as much as he could. Using the slight focus he could spare to try and figure out what the hell this place was.
After his thirtieth try at this, he finally got some inspiration, This is sort of similar to how the interface works. It isn't physical, nor is it all in my head. I can feel that this actually exists, other people have also entered this space. Then what is it?
After some more attempts, he figured another thing out, Right before entering I can feel magic surrounding me. Not mana but Magic itself. After this he looked at the Magic Crystal for some time, Is this where your name comes from... If mana crystals are filled with mana, then you instead will be filled with magic. How is that even possible?
When Eldrian mentioned this to Myropsis she was completely clueless. "I thought Magic is more a concept of thought?" She replied.
"Me too, but then what makes this crystal so special? I wonder, are dimensional storages made out of Magic Crystals?" Eldrian asked as he stared at the dark purple galaxy-like appearance of the crystal. The only difference between this and the crystal of Myropsis's dimensional storage was that the dimensional storage crystal lacked the sparkling stars that looked like galaxies.
"Not entirely. They are made out of similar crystals, we think they are crystals that failed to become Magic Crystals, crystals that are too small..."
"And don't have stars in them." Eldrian added right as Myropsis was about to say something more.
"What? What do you mean?"
"The color is exactly the same, but these galaxies aren't in your crystal. What if they are what actually makes it a Magic Crystal. What do you call the crystals dimensional storages are made off?"
"Umm..." Myropsis mumbled while trying to remember the name, "They are called Mov Crystals. They are always found surrounding Magic Crystals, we consider them to be the defects."
"So they might just be Magic Crystals that did not reach the necessary conditions. I wonder if it is possible to cultivate them. Also, we need to get a name for the magic feeling, calling it magic is too dam unspecific." Eldrian said, dropping his curiosity on the Magic and Mov crystals for now.
"Why don't we just call it willpower?"
"Cause it is again not specific, we will need to distinguish between willpower and magic willpower. Mmmm, what about Magic Will? Or the will of magic?" Eldrian replied.
"Isn't that a bit too long?"
"I don't know, I kind of like the will of magic. But it is long."
Both of them did not talk for a while as they tried to think of something else to call it. "Why don't we just call it mageia?" Myropsis asked after some thought.
"Huh?" Eldrian quickly turned to her, "Where did that come from?"
"I mean, it's basically magic, just stretching the ending. It sounds similar, is easy to say, and will make it clear to us if we are talking of magic, or the feeling that is magic."
"Mageia, mmm. Yeah, why not. It is better than trying to explain what we mean each time, and it is easier to say than the will of magic." Eldrian quickly agreed, after which both of them went back to some more training.
Time passed quickly and night came around. Eldrian did not wish to end his training as he could feel he was close to cracking the magic abyss. Myropsis on the other hand could not hold out any longer.
"I can't, I need to go eat until I'm exhausted, and then take a bath to clean all this sweat from me." Myropsis complained, her clothes clinging to her emphasizing her curves. Eldrian did not even realize this as he kept focusing on his experiments to try and figure out how to enter the magic abyss on his own.
"Then go." Eldrian quickly replied, not knowing why she even struck up a conversation with him.
"But, do you know how to get out of this room?"
"Oohh..." Eldrian felt quite embarrassed as he realized he had no idea how to teleport in and out. He had always been brought into these hidden rooms by someone else.
"Exactly, so are you staying the entire night or what?"
"I think I will do just that, come get me tomorrow," Eldrian replied, causing Myropsis to be shocked again at his ability to power through. She was certain he must also be dead tired by now. Eldrian was indeed, but he felt he needed just an hour or so more. He could logout whenever he wanted so he wouldn't really be locked in here.
After confirming that he was really alright with this Myropsis teleported herself out and left. Informing Pelaros of what was going on before leaving the manor. Pelaros was extremely excited and quickly ordered a room to be made ready for Eldrian, though it was never used as Eldrian simply disappeared upon logging out later.
A little over an hour after Myropsis had left Eldrian finally cracked it, That's it. Now how do I do this myself? He wondered, believing to have found the trick to entering the magic abyss. Greatly excited Eldrian quickly tried it out with Floga.
Alright, spell module first. Easy enough, now let's encase it with mageia. I think that worked? Eldrian faltered here as he had no way to know if he actually managed to encase it. He could not see or really feel mageia. He could feel the vague pull on his thoughts, this was all that he had to work with. Hence he couldn't be certain if he managed or not.
Now, let's simply try to enter the space. "Floga." Upon saying it Eldrian also guided his mana to cast the spell, keeping the mageia around the spell module in his mind. Doing all this worked as Eldrian found himself standing in the dark starry sky looking at a flaming triangle that was Floga's spell module.
"Awesome!" Eldrian shouted without a care as he felt the heat emanating from the spell module. Having anything to feel in this place felt weird, however, this thrilled him even more as he felt this opened even more doors to him.
