William was surprised at how well the masked girl was handling the situation. She was about to die, but she didn't release any groans of pain, only weakly called for help. Her eyes suggested that she was in some pain, but dying would only be an inconvenience.
She must have gone through a lot. William misunderstood.
In fact, since Fria's experience wasn't realistic like William's, she would only feel about five percent of the pain. If she could feel a hundred percent, Fria definitely would have passed out by now.
William noticed some of the nearby Cultivators rushing towards the Mummy's corpse, but he couldn't bother with them right now.
Normally his loot goblin tendencies would come out right about now, taking both the Mummy's greatsword and the Magic Staff that had fallen, but for some reason William just couldn't bear to see someone that had fought side-by-side with him for hours die just like that. Especially not after protecting him when he was losing to the Mummy earlier.
He used the Life Element to try and heal the girl's wounds, but even when he used its abilities to the fullest, William wasn't able to stabilize her. She passed out as the blood loss had become too much to bear.
It's not enough! William was torn inside.
He made a decision on the spot. Revealing his Talents again might bring more trouble, but William would feel guilty later if he let someone die just like that.
The System Quest hasn't been completed yet, this has to be what I'm missing!
He never expected to take the initiative to help someone without confidence in getting anything in return, but certain situations sometimes bring people to make surprising choices.
The Domain of Life opened, a green light spreading across the desert fifty meters in every direction in a perfectly cylindrical shape. The Cultivators that were running to loot the Mummy's corpse stood still in shock as they looked at the man in the center of the Life Domain.
"T-That's a Domain!" someone shouted with a shaky voice.
"No way, are we sure that's not an Innate Ability or some special artifact?"
An Inner Core Disciple of the Five Elements Sect was also surprised. William hadn't shown this ability before during his fights with Yu Ren or Hanzu. Was he going easy on them at the time?
He spoke up, "No. That's definitely a Domain. Our Sect has a lot of information on these things. Even though I've never seen one before, I can tell that it's a Domain at a glance."
They watched in silence as the Domain's power centralized on a single point, healing Fria's body at a pace visible to the naked eye. Her torso grew back, followed by her legs, feet, and toes. As her body grew back, William made sure to avert his eyes.
None of the other nearby Cultivators bothered to try taking away the Artifacts from William. Even the Space Mage from the same Sect wasn't confident in escaping William's Puppets, who could travel at almost the same speed as he could teleport away.
He had limited Mana, so eventually they would catch up. He realized that this boy who was still an Outer Core Disciple had already surpassed him, even exhibiting qualities equal to an Elder of the Sect.
-Acquired Abyssal Weapon Shifter: +1000 PP
-Acquired Sealed Mana Gathering Staff: +1000 PP
-Completed a Regional Trial in the Gravitas Ruins: +2500 PP
William ogled at the wave of Potential Points, then stored the items in his Space Ring, opting to test out their effects when there weren't so many spectators.
He looked over to see the masked girl was standing back up. There was surprise in her eyes, likely not expecting to still be alive after taking that hit. She inspected her body, wondering if she had dreamed up the entire lightning attack.
If it weren't for the plant fibers serving as pants, Fria would have actually believed it was a dream. She looked at William, a bit suspicious that he saw something he wasn't supposed to, but her intuition said he wasn't that kind of person.
"Thank you." she said with a slight tilt of her head.
William nodded and lowered the Earth Walls, then started walking off in the direction of the Labyrinth of Tears without another word.
His goal had been achieved, albeit with a few speed bumps along the way. Rather than waiting for trouble to come to him, William now had to prepare for any possible trouble for showing his Talents.
There was no time to waste.
Fria looked at his back as he walked away. The entire time she found something slightly familiar about him, but couldn't figure out what.
A random tear streamed out of her eye as she turned to face the opposite direction, a wave of mixed emotions alarming her.
I'm too tired. She thought to herself, shaking off the unexpected sadness.
She had used too many resources to complete this trial and hadn't even earned a share of the loot. It was clear that she needed to become even stronger before attempting another Regional Trial.
