But, why? William wondered. Why would the Heavens create Magical Beasts?
He retraced his memories back to the Lightning Annihilation Spell that he created based on the Heavens themselves. The Beasts' expressions were all the same when they had looked up. Fear.
It was plain and blatant, fear.
But it wasn't the fear of death, or the fear of William's ability. It was fear of the Spell itself. Or rather, it brought back memories of something else.
If the Magical Beasts were created by the Heavens, why would they fear their creator?
There were too many questions to ask, and the System wasn't helping at all. William felt that by now, the System should acknowledge that he was ready to know these things.
His Cultivation might not have reached the Tribulation Transcendence Realm, but his combat power was either there or close. To be this close to Ascension, yet to remain unanswered by the System was confusing to say the least.
What are you hiding, System?
No response. Though William never expected one anyway.
He blinked three times again and switched the mode of his Vision Talent once again, finally returning to normal. He stored the corpses of every nearby Magical Beast into his Space Rings, then swept the battlefield while doing the same elsewhere.
William was glad that he had made the Titanium Space Rings, which could store a large portion of the Beasts alone. Not only that, but he had a total of nine specialized Titanium Space Rings, having crafted five of them one night in a hotel, and five more later on, one of which was given to Yuming.
The previous Beast Tide and extracting the Greater Fire Shards had filled two of his Space Rings, while a third was half full of various other ingredients, materials, and equipment. He still had six empty Space Rings to fill, and he intended to do just that!
Carl, Yuming, and the others were doing the same, gathering the spoils of war into their Space Rings. Most of them could only store a few dozen Magical Beasts, but when Carl used up all of his Space Ring storage, he noticed that Yuming was still pulling corpses into his Space Ring.
He killed almost two dozen of the weakest Golden Core Magical Beasts by himself, earning himself a little over two hundred Points. Combined with the light stockpile from before, he finally had enough to upgrade his Talent again!
If NPC William hadn't showed up, he might have earned almost a thousand Potential Points, but it couldn't be helped. Powerful Cultivators like that couldn't be controlled and asking him to stop would probably lead to Sylph's death.
Instead, it was better to be quiet and gather the loot like everyone else.
But seeing an NPC named Yuming using a specialized Space Ring with only Core Formation Cultivation, Sylph just couldn't help himself.
He walked over to the group of friends and reached out his arm to pat Yuming's shoulder.
"Hey there, friend. Do you mind letting me take a look at that Space Ring?" he asked in the most amicable way he could muster, though his smile was still very off-putting.
Yuming turned his head to look at Sylph, narrowing his eyes slightly as he looked at the newcomer's clothing.
Sylph was wearing a set of tight-fitting metal armor that was dyed black. Its shape was incredibly ornate and seemed expensive, though at a closer look the material looked very cheap and not sturdy at all.
He was wearing a helmet with a visor that concealed his face, but the material was the same and was slightly dented in one spot from the battle.
It was as if the man only cared about appearances, and not the actual practicality of the armor itself.
Other than Sylph's Cultivation and his bully-like attitude, nothing about the man seemed threatening to Yuming. He smiled politely, then shook his head and pulled another Magical Beast into the Space Ring.
"Oh, you're going to ignore me? Then, I guess you don't mind if I just take a quick peek." Sylph said with a smile as he reached out to grab the Space Ring on Yuming's finger.
