TL: Moonlit

Shu Shuishui, although being a top-performing scholar dormouse, is clearly not a scientific mouse. This probably makes him a specialist in certain subjects, showing no interest in the so-called microscopic particle world.

So when the temperature outside rapidly increased due to the sun, Shu Shuishui had to return indoors. By that time, Gu Langu had carefully prepared and meticulously drafted the script, starting from basic quantum mechanics and even delving into the details of computational formulas, which he would repeat during the explanation.

Shu Shuishui (^-^)

After one hour (⊙⊙)

After two hours (⊙﹏⊙)

After three hours (ˉ^ˉ)

After four hours, Gu Langu reached out and touched Shu Shuishui’s little forehead.

Shu Shuishui, in response, fell face-first onto the table, ZZZ~~~ZZZ~~~ZZZ~~~

Gu Langu: “…”

In the end, Gu Langu picked up the little dormouse from the table, cradled him in his hands, and went upstairs.

On the first floor, Nan Ge and Yu Jin looked at each other, noticing that Gu Langu seemed somewhat unhappy, as if he was sulking. They had never seen this side of Gu Langu before, and it felt intriguing, as if it indicated that Gu Langu had developed emotions.

Gu Langu had never felt so frustrated. Even in the face of the harshest wars and constant life-threatening situations, he had never doubted himself. His strength was innate, and his fearlessness was rooted in every cell.

But now, for the first time, the unshakable Gu Langu wavered. Was it because he didn’t explain well enough? Or were microscopic quantum studies not important? Why did it feel like he was being rejected by a little dormouse?

Gu Langu could tell that Shu Shuishui was making an effort to listen, but he ended up falling asleep uncontrollably while listening, still sitting upright.

Shu Shuishui didn’t actually intend to fall asleep. However, for a dormouse, sometimes, sleep was beyond their control. So Shu Shuishui hugged his paws, getting sleepier and sleepier. His eyes struggled for a while, but he couldn’t resist Gu Langu’s hypnotic effect. With a slight bow of his little head, he fell asleep.

When Shu Shuishui woke up again, it was already evening. Usually in such situations, Shu Shuishui would simply decide that since it was already evening, there was no point in getting up and would continue sleeping.

Therefore, Shu Shuishui subconsciously rubbed against the soft little pillow, about to close his eyes again. However, his little ears suddenly twitched, and he abruptly sat up from the small bed. Lowering his head, he looked at the grass-green bedsheets and blankets, got off the bed, and anxiously tiptoed around, searching the bedroom but not finding Gu Langu’s figure.

Walking back and forth by the bedside table, Shu Shuishui’s head was filled with thoughts, but he couldn’t come up with a good way to make amends. Shu Shuishui felt guilty; he had fallen asleep uncontrollably while his pet was earnestly explaining knowledge to him. Not only was it impolite, but it must have hurt his pet’s feelings.

However, avoiding the situation was clearly not a good dormouse behavior. Therefore, Shu Shuishui felt that he should have the courage to face his own mistakes. After thinking for a while, Shu Shuishui, in great pain, took out another hazelnut from his spiritual treasury and went downstairs.

The first-floor hall was also quiet, and it seemed that Yu Jin and Nan Ge had gone out for something.

Step by step, Shu Shuishui climbed down the stairs and faintly heard voices coming from the left side of the hall. Following the sound, while holding the hazelnut, Shu Shuishui walked toward it.

He discovered that there was another door on the left side of the first-floor hall, leading to another room. The voices were coming from there. Shu Shuishui carefully distinguished the voices she heard: there were Nan Ge and Yu Jin’s voices, as well as unfamiliar voices.

The little dormouse walked to the door and pushed it gently. The wooden door was not locked and opened in response, instantly silencing the conversation inside. Numerous gazes gathered in his direction.

Carrying the hazelnut, Shu Shuishui stepped inside but stood still after taking only two steps because there were quite a few humans in the room. Shu Shuishui discreetly took a step back, hiding behind the partially open door, tilting his little body and peering inside.

The tense atmosphere in the room froze for a moment as everyone’s gaze involuntarily converged.

Hu Sichen and Fei Luo1it was Filo in the previous chapter but I decided to change it to Fei Luo held considerable influence in Sector C. They had once tried to persuade Gu Langu to take action regarding the electromagnetic storm, but they had hesitated and postponed it several times until now.

Gu Langu sat farthest from the door, directly facing it, with Nan Ge and Yu Jin beside him.

Just as Yu Jin was about to wave and greet Shu Shuishui, Nan Ge kicked him under the table. Gu Langu immediately stood up, briskly walked toward the door, and although Shu Shuishui had face blindness, after spending a long time together, he could recognize people. After seeing Gu Langu, he instinctively put on his signature smiling face and handed him the hazelnut.

Gu Langu was somewhat surprised but still accepted the hazelnut. Then, he cradled the little dormouse and intended to leave directly, seemingly not interested in continuing the meeting.

The meeting room door closed, and the room’s atmosphere became slightly awkward. However, it eased up instantly. Although Gu Langu wasn’t participating in the conversation, just his presence exerted an invisible pressure—a cold, emotionless, uncompromising dominance that disallowed any luck or calculation.

Nan Ge broke the awkward silence and spoke, “We will continue. As long as it benefits our survival, our base has no reason to refuse, right?”

Fei Luo’s temperament was actually quite similar to Nan Ge’s, both displaying elegance in their actions, words, and every move, which indicated their respectable backgrounds before arriving at Cang Zhan Star.

In comparison, Hu Sichen, as his surname suggests, appeared rough and rugged. He had a strong physique, muscular body, and it was easy to conclude that he was a man who preferred to solve problems with force.

On the other hand, Gu Langu didn’t take Shu Shuishui back to the second floor after leaving the meeting room. Instead, taking advantage of the pleasant evening temperature, neither too hot nor too cold, he took Shu Shuishui for a walk outside.

Shu Shuishui’s little head curiously looked in the direction of the meeting room. “Are they also people from the base?”

Gu Langu gently shook his head. “No, they are representatives from other factions, here to discuss the upcoming plans.”

“Plans?” Shu Shuishui tilted his small head. “Are we going somewhere?”

“Yes, migration is inevitable, but the timing is yet to be determined,” Gu Langu replied, patting Shu Shuishui’s head.

Shu Shuishui didn’t have a strong aversion to migration since he had traveled the world as a male dormouse before. Snapping back to the present, Shu Shuishui sheepishly tapped his paws together. “I fell asleep in the morning, I’m sorry. How about you explain it to me again? I promise I won’t fall asleep this time!”

Gu Langu didn’t expect Shu Shuishui to apologize for that incident. It was quite unexpected. “It’s alright, it’s not your fault, Shuishui. It’s okay if you’re not interested in these things. I understand, and I’m here for you.”

Shu Shuishui was delighted that he didn’t have to study science. After all, he had already made up his mind not to pursue it anymore. With a joyful bounce on Gu Langu’s palm, he said, “Then let me roast a sweet potato for you!”

Gu Langu felt the light weight of Shu Shuishui on his palm and nodded in agreement. He helped gather firewood and started a fire.

Shu Shuishui took out two sweet potatoes, selected a good spot, and found some branches to flip them over. Although he was small and his sweet potatoes were not as big as the usual ones, he handled them skillfully, indicating that he had roasted sweet potatoes many times before.

Gu Langu was somewhat worried that Shu Shuishui might get burned while flipping the sweet potatoes, but the agile little dormouse twisted his body and didn’t show any signs of fear towards the fire, contrary to animals’ natural instinct to fear it.

“In the presence of strangers, Shuishui, don’t easily speak or display intelligence,” Gu Lan Gu advised as he sat by the fire, watching the sweet potatoes intently.

Shu Shuishui, with his eyes fixed on the roasting sweet potatoes, nodded earnestly. “I know. My brother, Shu Bao, told me that before.”

“Shu Bao?”

“Another mouse, much more amazing than me!”

Gu Langu looked at Shu Shuishui’s trembling ears and guessed that Shu Shuishui must really like this mouse named Shu Bao. They were of the same species, and Shu Shuishui admired him. Suddenly, Gu Langu felt an inexplicable sense of crisis.

“But Shu Bao went to a different timeline, so it’s probably difficult to meet him again,” Shu Shuishui sighed.

The sense of crisis dissipated, and Gu Langu satisfiedly added more firewood.

As the sun hurriedly set, the sweet potatoes were not fully roasted yet, but the light had dimmed. Fortunately, they were still in the inn’s courtyard and didn’t need to move.

When the detailed meeting between the three factions concluded, the group walked out of the inn, only to see Gu Langu holding a freshly roasted sweet potato. The enticing aroma of roasted sweet potatoes filled the air, rich and sweet, spreading after being baked, making people’s mouths water.

Wasn’t Gu Langu unable to taste? This was the outsiders’ first reaction.

The sweet potato Gu Langu held was obviously just roasted, still unpeeled. And on Gu Langu’s other hand was the little dormouse that had suddenly barged into the meeting room earlier.

The little dormouse raised its paw, seemingly wanting to eat the sweet potato. However, upon seeing them, it climbed along Gu Langu’s wrist and disappeared into his sleeve, hiding inside.

Fei Luo, Hu Sichen, and their group had different thoughts. They had thought that they would have an advantage in the negotiation this time, considering that Gu Langu’s base had the fewest number of people. But now, it seemed that the resources in this base were even more abundant than they had imagined.
