Two similar faces stared at each other. Qing Mengxing drew the dagger he carried and approached step by step. His body was filled with undisguised killing intent and battle intent. He said in a deep voice, “Release his hand.”
Hu Sichen looked at Nan Ge, and after hesitating for a moment, Nan Ge nodded.
Everyone understood that Qing Mengxing didn’t want to take advantage of this situation. He wanted to avenge all the people of the Dream Star River with his own abilities. No one doubted Qing Mengxing’s killing intent; it had reached its peak.
Hu Sichen released the rope. “Qing Mengxing’s” hands were free again. He flexed his wrists, then curled his lips, nonchalantly whistling.
In the next moment, “Qing Mengxing” disappeared from where he stood and rushed towards the crowd! His target was not the opposite Qing Mengxing but Shu Shuishui!
Everyone was caught off guard by this sudden situation, and their hearts jumped into their throats. “Qing Mengxing” was incredibly fast, almost teleporting in speed and explosiveness. People could only roughly perceive his movements but couldn’t clearly see his actions.
At the same time, Qing Mengxing also made a move. Surprisingly, his speed was on par with “Qing Mengxing,” and he charged directly toward Shu Shuishui. People secretly breathed a sigh of relief, naturally assuming that Qing Mengxing was going to stop “Qing Mengxing.”
However, with a sharp metallic impact, both Qing Mengxing were pushed back! In the center, Gu Langu’s eyes had turned into a sci-fi deep blue, showing a protective posture and firmly keeping Shu Shuishui within his range. The cold, eerie blue gaze was frightening, and his voice, filled with suppressed anger, almost drowned out the quantum cannon explosions overhead. “Who do you want to harm?”
Everyone: ????
What was going on? Why was the situation not unfolding as they expected? Why were both Qing Mengxings attacking Shu Shuishui? If it weren’t for the critical moment when Gu Langu used his body to shield against attacks from both directions, Shu Shuishui would likely have been in danger! So, both Qing Mengxings were fake!
This was truly unexpected, and no one had anticipated this outcome. In that instant, they seemed to understand where the legend of Mang Ya’s unfailing assassinations came from. Faced with a similar situation, one would naturally guard against the fake Qing Mengxing, unknowingly exposing their back to the real Qing Mengxing. But little did they know, that both Qing Mengxings were fake, so the one being attacked was bound to meet a deadly end.
It could only be said that standing by Shu Shuishui’s side was Gu Langu, someone who shielded Shu Shuishui like an impenetrable fortress. Simultaneously, he had the confidence and capability to handle attacks from multiple directions, a machine-man who was accustomed to never revealing his weaknesses at any moment.
Amid the bewildered gazes of the crowd, both Qing Mengxings smiled simultaneously, showing identical nonchalant expressions. At that moment, these two individuals finally merged into one, like a copy-paste, blending seamlessly in temperament.
“Steel and iron, seeing is believing, huh!” one of the Qing Mengxings raised the dagger in their hand and playfully licked the blade with their tongue. “I can even feel the tremors of the dagger. It’s truly exhilarating.”
Everyone: “…” This person is not only crazy but also a bit twisted. What’s with this expression like they’ve found true love?
Shu Shuishui, without much thought, positioned himself in front of Gu Langu.
“Qing Mengxing”: “…”
However, the other Qing Mengxing couldn’t help but burst into laughter. The laughter sounded particularly eerie, making everyone’s scalp tingle. These two individuals were truly exuding a bizarre aura from start to finish.
Gu Langu stepped out from behind Shu Shuishui, simultaneously patting his head to comfort him and indicating that he would take over.
Shu Shuishui looked at Gu Langu, whose eyes had turned blue, and eventually took a step back, leaving the battlefield for Gu Langu. However, he was already prepared and ready to fight. The reason for his retreat was that he sensed the intense spiritual power fluctuations in Gu Langu’s body. He had reached a crucial moment in his cultivation, and now was the time for advancement. He needed this battle.
With the imminent battle, the others tacitly stepped back, leaving an empty space in the center. Although there were two suspected lunatic Qing Mengxings, or perhaps Mang Ya, they had Gu Langu, and there wasn’t much to worry about, so there was no need to run away.
Although they had not seen Gu Langu in action many times since the establishment of the Shui Jing Gong, it did not diminish Gu Langu’s position in their hearts as an invincible figure. Of course, this was under the assumption that Shu Shuishui was not included. Shu Shuishui wasn’t someone you fought against; he was someone you surrendered to willingly, throwing yourself into the enemy’s arms.
However, facing others, it was an entirely different story. Just as it was happening now, it made people’s blood boil.
The scene, even though no one had made a move yet, was enough to send shivers down one’s spine. Mang Ya and Gu Langu were two entirely different kinds of auras. Mang Ya was the kind who would disregard everything, a crazed fighter who could be described as reckless and life-threatening. He was the type who didn’t bother with defense during a fight and used everything he had for offense, even if it cost him his own life.
Such individuals were not easy to handle, but they were also the ones who could become the top assassins. His assassinations were not for the sake of a mission; they were purely for pleasure, for excitement. He enjoyed the battle, relishing the moment when he could potentially lose his life at any time.
Gu Langu, on the other hand, was contemptuous, or rather, indifferent. He disregarded all life and possessed a coldness born on the battlefield, devoid of emotions—cold towards enemies and cold towards himself. His azure eyes were a signal that he was in battle mode. He didn’t need to focus on defense because he didn’t require it; his brain calculated the path to victory in the most optimal, fastest, and perfect way.
One was insane, the other was icy, one was a battle maniac, and the other was a war machine.
The breath of everyone present grew lighter, fearing that they might inadvertently affect the battlefield in some way. Each person stared fixedly at the three figures in the center.
Shu Shuishui raised his hand to touch his ear. He could feel his rapidly beating heart. He really wanted to step forward and fight alongside Gu Langu. But he also wanted to fulfill Gu Langu’s wish by staying here, solely focused on witnessing his brilliance, his glory, and his protection.
Suddenly, the two Qing Mengxings in the center moved simultaneously. As if they had some kind of connection, their actions were perfectly synchronized, and they both disappeared from their original positions. Their powerful bursts shattered the stone slabs that had just been laid on the path by the Shui Jing Gong.
The people could only feel their vision blur as if a camera had missed a few frames. The Qing Mengxings had already moved to Gu Langu’s side.
The intense sound of their clash filled the air. Qing Mengxing’s attack angles were extremely tricky, especially the coordination between the two of them, which was so well-practiced that it was eerie. Sometimes it made people wonder if these two were indeed the same person, and they didn’t need to communicate about what they were thinking or planning. The two Qing Mengxings could simply coordinate to find the positions, postures, angles, force, and timing that made it most difficult for Gu Langu to defend against.
The sharp edges of their blades glistened in the sunlight, tracing arcs through the air. Sometimes the glint of their blades reflected into the onlookers’ eyes, causing a sensation of pain.
A heavy sound of impact rang out as one of the Qing Mengxings was struck in the chest by Gu Langu’s fist. It seemed like the sound of bones breaking could be heard by the onlookers. However, the struck Qing Mengxing only took a few steps back before stabilizing himself, and then his eyes gleamed as he charged forward once again.
Gu Langu, despite not using any weapons, was not at a disadvantage in the least. His body’s strength and power were deadly, and Qing Mengxing had to be cautious about the angle of attack.
After a few more rounds of being pushed back, Gu Langu’s fist once again landed on one of the Qing Mengxing’s arms. This time, the onlookers could clearly see that the Qing Mengxing’s arm had been bent at a bizarre angle. His arm was broken! However, the Qing Mengxing didn’t even furrow his brow; instead, in the next moment, he transferred the dagger to his other hand and continued the attack without hesitation!
It was evident that the Qing Mengxing’s dagger was also made of special materials because, after a few strikes, it left wounds on Gu Langu’s body. Gu Langu’s formidable modified physique came into play as the wounds quickly stopped bleeding.
What was strange, however, was that the Qing Mengxing’s injuries seemed to be healing rapidly. He even swung his broken arm as a distraction. The moment Gu Langu twisted the injured arm, the other Qing Mengxing’s dagger stabbed Gu Langu’s back. Simultaneously, the Qing Mengxing with the broken arm held onto Gu Langu’s hands.
Shu Shuishui’s heart skipped a beat, and he almost couldn’t resist intervening. However, soon enough, Gu Langu’s body twisted in a way that a human couldn’t, breaking free from the restraint. He punched the Qing Mengxing behind him, and Shu Shuishui keenly noticed that several of the Qing Mengxing’s ribs were broken once again. But this man seemed to have no sense of pain. Even with over a dozen fractures on his body, it didn’t affect his fighting spirit. In fact, he appeared to become more excited, and his attacks grew even more reckless.
This was a formidable opponent, but unfortunately for him, he had encountered Gu Langu, a man who became more courageous in battle.
The battle between the three continued to escalate, and the onlookers dared not blink their eyes, for every blink meant they might miss at least two exchanges. In a contest between such top-level experts, each moment was precious.
Finally, when the two Qing Mengxings coordinated another attack, Gu Langu suddenly increased his attack speed once again. He grabbed one of the Qing Mengxing’s wrists, causing their daggers to collide, resulting in one dagger being broken and the other flying out of the Qing Mengxing’s hand due to the tremendous impact. The Qing Mengxing’s palm was instantly torn apart, blood gushing.
In the next instant, Gu Langu’s hand precisely grasped the Qing Mengxing’s throat, one hand on each opponent, subduing them with one move.
With Gu Langu’s strength, he could snap the Qing Mengxing’s neck in an instant. The Qing Mengxing raised his hand in surrender.
At this point, all three of them looked rather worse for wear, but Gu Langu was in relatively better condition, at least without broken limbs. The Qing Mengxing appeared much worse off, resembling a disabled person. However, even in this state, he continued to nonchalantly smile. “Oh, I’ve lost, haven’t I? Is the energy you possess the same as the spiritual power you’ve been talking about?”
Gu Lan Gu didn’t respond, but the other Qing Mengxing replied, “Is this extraordinary energy something you could teach me? When I learn it, I’ll come back to kill you. It’ll be so much fun.”
The onlookers couldn’t comprehend their twisted thinking, but keeping these two lunatics under control was a relief.
If it were a normal person, they would have lost all mobility with such injuries, but Qing Mengxing was still lively and could jump up to kill in the next second. So, even though their injuries were severe, the onlookers dared not let their guard down. They had tied them up securely with the silk threads modified by spirit silkworms for easy questioning.
Shu Shuishui had already started to bandage Gu Langu’s wounds. The blue light in Gu Langu’s eyes had not yet faded, and his suppressed spiritual power was on the brink of eruption. However, there had been a significant change in his demeanor. In an instant, he had transformed from an emotionless killing machine into a wounded and seeking comfort.
Qing Mengxing watched this scene with interest, and no one knew what he was thinking.
Yu Jin couldn’t help but ask out of curiosity, “So, there are two of you as ‘Mang Ya,’ and you’ve been carrying out assassination missions like this?”
Both Qing Mengxings looked at Yu Jin, and even though Qing Mengxing had a seemingly friendly smile on his face, it sent shivers down Yu Jin’s spine.
“Mang Ya is two people? Hahaha, you guess. How many of us are there? Who knows if there will be more Mang Yas tomorrow or the day after.” Qing Mengxing replied with a mischievous grin.
The crowd was bewildered. By the sound of it, could it be that there were more than two Mang Yas? Was Mang Ya a person or an organization? Or perhaps this was just a diversion thrown by Qing Mengxing, after all, he was a lunatic who only cared about having fun.
“What about the real Qing Mengxing?” Nan Ge couldn’t decipher anything about either of these two Mangyas and asked with a furrowed brow.
Mang Ya shrugged. “Who knows? I’m not close to him.”
Mang Ya’s peculiar situation made it difficult for the crowd to eliminate him easily, but this dangerous character had to be dealt with. If they couldn’t get any information, they would have to take action. Nan Ge gestured for Hu Sichen to take the prisoner away. With the spirit silkworm silk in place, they weren’t worried about Qing Mengxing escaping.
Before being taken away, Mang Ya’s interested gaze once again turned towards Shu Shuishui and Gu Langu. He spoke in a tone filled with fascination and schadenfreude, “We’re all the same kind of people, living in our own woven dreams, thinking we’re still alive. I really want to see what you’ll be like when you wake up from your dreams. Will you still be so close? Hahaha, that would be so interesting.”
Gu Langu’s body stiffened slightly, his gaze averted, unable to meet Shu Shuishui’s eyes.
Shu Shuishui responded straightforwardly, “Winter is coming soon.”
Mang Ya raised an eyebrow, “So what?”
Shu Shuishui said seriously, “I’m getting ready to hibernate, and Gu Gu will hibernate with me. We’re going to sleep until next year. You probably won’t live to see next year.” In other words, you won’t be able to see what we’ll be like when we wake up from our dreams.
Mang Ya: “…”
The crowd: “…”
Shu Shuishui had rendered even a twisted character like Mang Ya speechless, leaving everyone at a loss for words.
