Chapter 37: Chapter 37: The King's Law_1

"Ladies and Gtlem, do you know! A few days ago, a beast tide erupted in the mountains of Wan Beast, with a million savage beasts pouring forth. It so happed to be the day of the Imperial Dynasty's royal hunt, and many civil and military officials were there, including Dawu's new ruler, the Second Emperor, Chu!"

In the dining hall on the first floor, a storyteller in a long gown, flushed with excitemt and spluttering as he spoke, narrated the evts of the beast tide as if he had witnessed the sce himself.

"What, a million savage beasts? If they broke loose, the Imperial City would be sured. Who knows how many people would die th? Previous courts didn't have the ability to resist the beast tide, and the common people could only be preyed upon. But since the establishmt of Dawu, there hasn't be a beast tide for many years."

Many spectators a the storyteller exclaimed in shock.

"Indeed!" the storyteller replied, "But our Emperor is formidable and invincible. Leading the Divine Army, he repeatedly slew great monsters. Ev the leader of the savage beasts, the Purple Lightning Thunder Dragon, a master of nine levels of Divine Abilities, was killed. In the d, this caused the beast tide to collapse, averting the crisis."

"The Divine Army? Wasn't the Divine Army destroyed? How can it still exist?"

"Yes, ev so, our Emperor just ascded to the throne, how could he be so capable?"

"You couldn't be trying to deceive us, could you? If your narration is unsatisfactory, there will be no reward."

...

Many people questioned.

"Ha ha, I have a few frids in the Forbidd Army. Just ask a, and you'll find out. Everything I say is true. Unfortunately, I did not witness it myself, which is a great regret in my life. Our Emperor is indeed too strong."

The storyteller replied.

"He is not wrong. I was on duty in the Forbidd Army that day. The Emperor was invincible, killing gods and demons blocking his path. Tearing through the Purple Lightning Thunder Dragon was as easy as picking something from a bag. Rectly, I have heard some rumors in the Imperial City, claiming that Dawu is doomed. But in my opinion, these are all laughable gossip, intded to unsettle us.

Dawu is in its prime, and if the four nations of Daqian want to annihilate our nation, they will have to ask if my blade agrees."

This was likely a cturion from the Forbidd Army who happed to be in the Moon-Viewing Tower. He spoke of Chu Yuan with admiration.

"How could Dawu possibly perish? The new ruler is so powerful; Daqian is seeking its own destruction."

"Hehe, I heard that some people are quietly fleeing to Daqian out of fear. I advise you to abandon such ideas, otherwise, you won't ev know how you died wh the time comes."

"How dare we? Ev if we dared, we don't have the capability."

....

Many people in the Moon-viewing Tower were talking about Chu Yuan's heroic deeds that day, painting him like a Celestial God.

"Brother, they are all praising you. How come you look so indiffert? Hehe, I also care about national affairs. That day's battle within the Wan Beast mountains must've put many malicious people on edge."

"The heavs are blind! If the old master were still alive, who would dare to force the sale of his property? It's be only a few months since the master passed away, yet you want to bully his elderly and young survivors? Is there no law or justice in this Imperial City!"

The elderly servant angrily exclaimed: "Who can stand up for the Liu family!"

"Get out of the Moon-watch Loft!"

Furious, Li San was about to slap the old man out of the Moon-watch Loft.

"Get up, old man. There is still law in this Imperial City. I will stand up for you."

Chu Yuan's face harded as he helped the old man up. "There are so many unowned houses in the Imperial City. So why is this sixth son of the Li family insistt on buying the Liu Family's house? What's the differce?"

"The old master's residce is only half a street away from Miaoyin Square. From the high buildings inside the residce, Miaoyin Square is visible and the music can be easily heard, so they insist on buying it."

The old man said bitterly, "Young Master, this matter has nothing to do with you. They are people from the Prime Minister's household. It's better if you stay out of this, we wouldn't want you to get involved. This old body of mine, ev if I die, it doesn't matter."

"Oh? If I can't provoke them, why do you dare to argue with them?" Chu Yuan asked.

"The old master saved my life. Ev in death, I can't allow his widow to be bullied!" the old man said.

"I think you're mistak. The Liu house now belongs to the Li family, as shown by the black and contract. The money was also giv to you all. Do you want to go back on your agreemt? Ev if you tried to dispute at the governmt office, you would undoubtedly lose."

Li Yu was not happy to see more and more people gathering. Ev though it was a trifling matter, it could ruin the Prime Minister's Mansion's reputation if the news got out.

"You cut off a finger from the young master and forcefully pressed it onto the contract!"

The old man roared.

"Cutting someone's finger and forging a contract?" Chu Yuan's face grew colder: "Who gave you the audacity."

"Who are you? Daring to meddle in this matter."

Li San didn't like Chu Yuan's interferce and walked over. He rested his hand on Chu Yuan's table, ready to flip it over.

"No one has ever dared to flip my table." Chu Yuan said, his face expressionless.

"Ha ha, so what if I flipped your table? What can you possibly do about it?"

Li San swaggered, though Chu Yuan has an outstanding temperamt, there were plty of such noble sons in the Imperial City, of whom could hold a candle to the Prime Minister's Mansion, so he was unabashed.

"If you don't leave, I'll dislocate your arm!"

Li San scorned.
