Book 6: Chapter 34:1: Ryougi Shiki Finally Wakes Up! Part 1

Self-Centered Elder Sister Shiki: What do you think? Should I change my style now that Ryougi Shiki has woken up?

Workaholic Gil: Your current style is excellent, blending seamlessly with the association.

Self-Centered Elder Sister Shiki: I have a feeling you’re mocking me.

Workaholic Gil: You’re mistaken.

Coasting Through Life: Ah Heng, I’ve finished my paper. Have you completed yours?

He Who Knows Fate: I can finish anytime I want to.

Coasting Through Life: Tsk! It must be nice to do whatever you want using your Absolute Precognition, huh?

He Who Knows Fate: By the way, Qingtong, do you remember the bet we made?

Coasting Through Life: Erm...I can't recall. ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍

He Who Knows Fate: Shall I remind you?

Coasting Through Life: No need. Besides, I don’t want to know. Gambling is bad. We shouldn’t gamble; we should stay away from it.

He Who Knows Fate: I’m sure you remember. We bet on the college entrance exam questions.

Coasting Through Life: You’ve got some nerve, Ah Heng, using your Absolute Precognition to cheat and then betting with me. I can’t believe you’d do such a thing.

Time Witch: What’s going on?

Coasting Through Life: When we just started our re:life, our memories hadn’t fully returned, and we had yet to join the Re:Life Chat Group, Ah Heng had already acquired the Absolute Precognition. While tutoring me, he said he had predicted five essay questions on the college entrance exams and told me to memorize them. Then we made a bet. For each correct prediction, I’d fulfill one of Ah Heng’s requests. For each incorrect one, he’d fulfill one of mine, with the requests offsetting each other.

Coasting Through Life: Out of the five questions, he “predicted” four correctly using the Absolute Precognition. That’s four requests, which still leaves three after offsetting.

He Who Knows Fate: You’re omitting a lot of information. Why not mention why we bet in the first place? It was because you weren’t paying attention at all. I did this for your sake, didn’t I?

Coasting Through Life: If you truly care for me, then just forget about this bet.

He Who Knows Fate: No way. It’s about time you learned a lesson.

Coasting Through Life: Tsk!

Coasting Through Life: ...

Efreet: Understand now?

Coasting Through Life: Erm...got it. Luo Li, give the favors back to me.

Time Witch: No.

Coasting Through Life: Give them back!

Time Witch: No, a deal is a deal. Whoever reneges is a dog; that’s what you agreed to.

Coasting Through Life: ...Woof.

Time Witch: It’s futile. Unless you want to be known as someone who goes back on their word.

Coasting Through Life: Ah Heng

He Who Knows Fate: It’s no use coming to me. Go negotiate with Little Li.

Hah...Qingtong is really...There are no words to describe her.

Chen Heng sighed, stood up, and handed in his answer sheet.

He Who Knows Fate: Qingtong, I’m heading to the hospital now. You don’t have to send Elder Sister Raven to pick me up later.

Coasting Through Life: Got! it!

------

Chen Heng walked along the hospital’s corridor, holding lilies he had purchased from a flower shop. Then he searched for the room of his younger sister in name—Ryougi Shiki.

“Found it,” he murmured, looking at the 606 above head level on the door of the special care ward. Then he pushed the door open and entered.

The room accommodated only one person, Ryougi Shiki, who lay on the hospital bed. The setting sun cast a gentle glow on her.

Chen Heng approached and replaced the wilted roses on the bedside table with the fresh lilies he had brought.

He then settled into the bedside chair idly, leaning on his hand as he admired Ryougi Shiki’s exquisite face, now adorned with the warm hues of the sunset.
