Book 6: Chapter 38:1: Chen Heng’s Daught...Nothing. Part 1
“Very well, you are my youngest brother, after all. I forgive you. I’ll chat with Senior Fu Hua later. These four white jade medallions are admission slots for Jixia Academy, which admits students every four years, and the time has come again. Not many in our clan are eligible, and fewer elders are willing to accompany us, so I brought you four medallions so they don’t go to waste: one for you, one for Sirin, one for Ryougi Shiki, and one for your master.”
“My master gets one too?”
“Of course! Why else would I give you four medallions? Your master will accompany you guys. Otherwise, what would she do after your entire family leaves? She’s technically still a high-school student at St. Freya Academy, so it works out; she can go to Jixia Academy with everyone. I went through some trouble to get her medallion. What do you think? Aren’t I great?”
“You’re more than great! I’m so touched. But why only four medallions?”
“Huh? What do you mean?” Xuanyuan Yiyao looked puzzled.
“What about Jeanne d’Arc?”
“Huh? She’s a familiar; why would she need an admission medallion? You’re a cultivator with abilities, Sirin is a five-core Herrscher, and we suspect Ryougi Shiki is a destructive ability user. It’s a perfect set. By the way, Little Brother, what ability does Ryougi Shiki have?” Xuanyuan Yiyao looked at Chen Heng with her large eyes.
It did not surprise Chen Heng that the Ji Clan had discovered Jeanne d’Arc’s identity. He would never underestimate the Ji Clan’s (Xuanyuan Clan’s) intelligence-gathering capabilities.
Jeanne d’Arc’s biggest flaw was her mana-based composition. This mana was extremely similar to the western wizards’ mana, which any competent cultivator could detect.
What did surprise him was how quickly Sirin’s and Ryougi Shiki’s identities were exposed.
“Little Brother, are you wondering how Sirin’s and Jeanne d’Arc’s identities were exposed? Well, beg me. I’ll tell you if you do.”
“Erm...No need. Isn’t it just the Ji Clan sending someone to protect me in secret? I know about it now.” Chen Heng had lowered himself and begged his elder cousin in one of the possible futures. Using his Absolute Precognition, he saw the results. However...I know about it already. Why would I beg you now?
However, he had not expected the Ji Clan to have sent people to protect him in secret. Furthermore, that person was so strong that he never even noticed. It looked like his master was right; he should never let his guard down.
Given Xuanyuan Yiyao’s adoring look for his master, it might even work.
Unfortunately, Fu Hua completely ignored her disciple’s gaze. She simply shrugged as if she wanted to help but was powerless. She truly could not handle Chen Heng’s elder cousin.
So, what did Xuanyuan Yiyao want with Chen Heng?
For some reason, the Ji Clan had several sons but only one daughter in the previous generation, which resulted in Chen Heng’s mother being doted on. In this generation, the Ji Clan had several daughters but only one son (as of now).
Chen Heng’s eldest cousin, Xuanyuan Geng, was the first and only male descendant in the current generation. Every other descendant born after him had been female. Chen Heng’s uncles were supposedly working hard at producing more descendants, hoping for another male.
This was one of the reasons no one objected when Chen Heng’s sixth uncle suggested adopting him into the Ji Clan. There were simply too few males. Furthermore, half of Chen Heng’s bloodline came from the Ji Clan. In theory, he was no different from the other descendents of the current generation; they were all half-and-half.
Xuanyuan Geng was the eldest, so his position as the next clan head was practically assured. Furthermore, he possessed high cultivation talent and looked handsome, very suitable for succeeding the Ji Clan Head’s position.
However, who knows who he took after, but Xuanyuan Geng had a stoic demeanor. He focused on cultivating and never played with his contemporaries. This made things difficult for his many female cousins. The girls only got to play with other girls, leaving them bored...until Chen Heng appeared.
Back then, Chen Heng’s mother brought him to the Ji Clan to visit relatives. Once there, she left him alone to wander around. However, he quickly ended up in the hands of this group of older girls. Up to this day, Chen Heng was the youngest among them.
Just imagine it. How curious would a group of girls of similar ages who rarely saw the opposite gender be upon seeing Chen Heng? Furthermore, he took after his mother, looking very delicate. So...
Have you ever experienced the despair of having a group of older girls surrounding you, ripping your clothes off to put dresses on you? Chen Heng had. This made him think these girls were all evil demons.
Chen Heng had mentioned this to his mother, but his mother said she had done the same to her brothers, making them wear dresses too. She said that this was quite normal.
Given how much the Ji Clan doted on his mother, she might have truly done such deeds. Chen Heng felt like laughing when thinking about how the awe-inspiring Ji Clan Head had been forced to crossdress by a younger sister. However, he could no longer laugh when he recalled his current situation.
How the tables have turned! The debt of the previous generation had to be paid by him.
