Chapter 28: Restart
After I defeated the wraith, there weren’t any other uproar about ghosts anymore.
The town thoroughly turned into a peaceful town. Me, on the other hand, I’m busy as always.
Angelica: “Daddy! You’re playing with the computer again!”
Keisuke: “No…I’ve got a lot of things to do. Like looking for something for example.”
After I enlightened the landlord and the police about the situation, we temporarily had nothing to do.
Too many things happened and because of that I was tired. I wanted to rest for a while.
The next morning, I turned on the TV and absentmindedly watched the news, and as it turned out, I appeared in it.
The video of me fighting the wraith in the sky was reported as a meteor impact or some sort of UFO uproar.
The location of the filming is probably the mountain where I slammed the wraith down.
I was sure the place was uninhabited, but it looks like there was a group of people camping for an astronomical observation.
…thank goodness I didn’t get them involved.
I’m glad there aren’t any injuries, but there was a perfect shot of me.
Thanks to the flaming wraith, my face was illuminated, and the shot clearly showed who it was.
So concealment Magic could deceive human eyes and ears, but machines can see through it normally, huh. Seriously?
I was struck by the revelation about the spell, and some days later I was overwhelmed by interviews.
While I was looking for excuses in the middle of the confusion, they arbitrarily affixed the nickname “UFO Ojisan” and instantly became the man of the moment.
Somehow in the end the world just accepted me as a magician and calmed down.
Magic tricks.
Magic tricks, huh…
Ah well.
When I get on TV, I showed how I pull out a sword of light from my palm or durably walk on top of fire, and I spent several days earning money.
I managed to rake up nearly a million in cash within two weeks.
Even now I’m getting more and more jobs.
Keisuke: “I’m fed up with this job, so I’m going to quit.”
When I told the shop manager that, he said “people like you are just gonna be famous for a moment and disappear after that”, nagging with veins popping on his head.
Probably leaving Rio and Angelica to stand outside the store didn’t help as well.
Angelica: “Daaddyy! Let’s get out of here, it stinks!”
Angelica who wasn’t used to the smell of pork belly and bones naturally complained,
Rio: “There’s a lot of people who looked like Gondou loitering out here, what’s with that?”
Meanwhile, Rio said that, feeling curious while tampering with her phone.
So Gondou is still telling his guys to keep doing that sincerely, huh. I gotta tell him that it’s okay not to do that anymore.
Store Manager: “People like you should just lay your hands on those high school girls and get arrested!”
As I listened to the store manager’s angry shout that sounds like he’s about to cry, I left the store.
I showed up to the Ootsuki antiquarian bookstore from time to time.
I mean, I need to collect some books about modern Japan to help Angelica learn.
…this place is the cheapest alternative. The assortment of books are also nice.
I couldn’t help but to feel scared whenever I encountered Ayako-chan though.
The impact I had to face when me and Angelica entered the store was tremendous.
But sacrifices had to be made.
Angelica: “What are you looking for with the computer?”
Keisuke: “A property.”
My current objective is to move out.
To compensate for doubting Angelica and just to simply show my parental love, I’m planning to rent a two-room apartment.
Angelica too have to conduct prayers with discipline, so she wanted a quiet, dark private room for that.
It seems like Sacred Maidens are required to pray in a place that can’t be seen by men once a day. It’s such a bother.
Right now, she would usually pray reluctantly in the bathroom or the veranda while I was sleeping, so I thought I should do something about that.
Keisuke: “You wanted a place you can pray, right Ange? What do you say we move to a wider place to live? I’m looking around just for that.”
Angelica: “Really? I want to live in Hotel Amaryllis.”
That’s a love hotel. You must not live there.
Keisuke: “Ange needs some privacy too, right? How about making the prayer room like your own room?”
Angelica: “Eeh? You don’t need to do that.”
Keisuke: “We can prepare two beds, and then we can bring one into the prayer room, so you can have your own bedroom. You’re a girl after all, so you would hate it if you keep sleeping with me, right?”
Angelica: “One bed is enough…I don’t want to have more than one bed.”
There you go again saying such dangerous thing. Look, she even started thinking about weird things and turned red herself.
Feeling tired, I turned back to the computer and a window popped up on the corner of my vision.
【Angelica‘s sexual arousal has reached 70%】
【Requirements for consensual sexual actions met. Do you proceed?】
【If proceeded, there is a constant probability of conceiving】
【The child conceived would gain combined status pattern of both parents; some skills would be inherited, and equipment and item sharing is possible】
【Assignment of child’s class is also possible】
Like I said, why are you guiding me into laying my hands on a girl? I oddly thought.
I started doubting if this thing actually possess free will.
【Keisuke, try to get in a relationship with another person quickly.】
【Be happy, okay?】
Keisuke: “…huh?”
The finger I had on top of the mouse wheel trembled.
Keisuke: “El…za?”
Is that you?
Have you always been there…
Have you always been inside me the whole time?
You, who gave your life away…have been absorbed by me? Are you still watching over me?
Angelica: “Daddy? Listen, alright? There should absolutely just be one bed, alright? One. I won’t forgive you if we separate our rooms.”
Keisuke: “Aah…”
Expand your expectation toward the future of your new life while carrying on the memories of the past.
Under that complicated state of mind, I looked into the homepage of a real estate agency.
Angelica: “Dad…? Are you crying?”
Did you want us to sleep separately that bad!? Angelica’s shoulders who took on a big misunderstanding twitched.
Keisuke: “That’s not it, that’s not it, Ange. I’m crying because I’m so happy.”
Angelica: “Eeh? Hmm, tears of joy, is it? So you really like sleeping with me, don’t you dad?”
Elza…I’m doing my best over here.
I won’t abandon myself anymore. I’ll show you that I can relive my life.
I’m the hero after all.
