"This Alma is my sister's son-in-law who was supposed to take over the ranch in my place when she ran away from home."
As he walked down the road leading to the ranch, Zashma explained to me that way.
"If you are the owner of the ranch, you will have to interact with the division of the Chamber of Commerce, which has only a gold account. If my stubborn father leaves everything to this Alma, this ranch will be cheap."
"I'll say it often. I don't have a smooth-moving tongue like you, do I?
"This is a sacrificial technique I wore after I left my hometown alone. I don't know what would have happened to this ranch if I had inherited something."
From what I can tell, there seemed to be no certainty whatsoever between Zashma and Alma.
Two swollen men without becoming forty crossroads are exchanging words with soothing. What a soothing sight.
"Well, this is the entrance to the grazing land. I think so. Take a look at the proud caron."
The conductor was Alma alone, and we were all following that by thirteen men.
Alma hands on the door installed on the Marutai fence. At that moment, Ai-Fa raised her voice from my side.
"Before we do that, let me just check again. If we get that close to this beast called Caron, there's really no danger, is there?
"Oh. Karon is a great beast. It's out of breeding time, and nothing's dangerous. He pulled his ass off, and then he just tried to run away."
Laughing casually, Alma opens the door.
"It's just that if you scratch the caron, the fur and the meat will drop in value. I don't mind touching Karon's body, but promise me you won't treat me abusively."
"Whatever. I swear here that I will never break my promise."
Alma brought us into the grazing land, breaking the look on Ey-Fa's big story.
It is a vast grazing land, seen on the way. At the foot, grass grows on one side like a lawn that you don't see in Genos, until about the ankle. In that, many carons were eating their grass in the first place.
"Our job is to water this pasture and then let Karon walk. As you can see, these guys just eat grass all day long when they leave you alone. If you don't let him exercise, he'll lose the quality of his meat."
Saying, Alma whipped Karon's ass, which was close by, with a leather whip.
It is a cloth-wrapped leather whip at the tip, probably to avoid damaging the fur of the caron. When he was slapped in the ass with it, Karon started to move his legs cursorily, not even raising a voice of dissatisfaction.
It is truly a great animal.
His body length ranges from 1,7 to 2 meters, his height ranges from 1,3 to 1,5 meters, and his weight - I don't have a clue, but it won't mean he's lighter than Holstein that he has 6,700 kilos. That's how thick it is and how dull it looks.
The thickness of the extremities, among other things, is unusual and keeps much the same volume from the momomo to the ankle. The weight around it reminded me of elephants, not bakus.
So, I was able to finally confirm this close, but it was the flat claws, not the hooves, that were growing on its flat feet.
The meat seems to be this world-specific animal that looks like a cow, and milk is probably like a buffalo, but I still can't even classify it.
"These guys don't look like they're going to suffer until they fall even if they get sick, so we have to pay attention to those parts, too. You'll look like you're just walking around with Karon, but this is a pretty tough job."
Alma keeps walking as she slaps Karon's ass on the road.
Limi-Lew, Mime, etc. have become a hunk of curiosity just by keeping Karon close, and the ladies are watching Karon's movements as a lot. What remained the same as normal was about Zida and Barsha.
"Have the Balshas ever seen Karon in the margins?
"Yeah? That's reasonably the first time I've set foot on such a fine ranch, because not many houses grow carons in those countryside. I'm not surprised at the size of this figure right now."
I guess Barsha used to run around western territory as part of the Red Beard Party, on top of Zida and the body that took a few days from Masala to come to Genos. It seems to them, for once, that it is not a rare spectacle.
"Nevertheless, a great beast! If we had such a big giva or something, we'd be struggling like that!
Dan-Rutim with his wand says so with a lavish laugh.
The right ankle seems to be a lot closer to being comfortable, and now I'm not letting my feet float anymore. It's as powerful a step as it was before you got hurt.
"Exactly. There won't be a giant giva or anything like that so far. If you have a giva like that, it's a threat."
Dan Rutim smiled and looked back at you as Dim-Rutim responded.
"But sometimes, once every few decades, a giva as huge as this appears. Unfortunately, I've never actually seen it, but the skulls that were decorated in the Sung family's sacrifice hall were truly splendid, right? If I stuck my torso to that, I wonder if it would be an unbeatable size for a beast like this caron."
"Really? Then I'd like to encourage training."
Then Alma, who was walking in the lead, looked back at the two hunters with interest.
"I've barely eaten any meat other than this caron since I was born, but what does Giva taste like? In the Inn Town of Genos, it's become quite a reputation, isn't it?
"Giva's delicious! Thanks to Asta, it's getting better and better!
"Yeah, Giva is delicious. I just offered smoked meat for the tour, so try it at night if you like."
Because it is like feeding pork to a human who only knows beef, God only knows if it really suits his mouth.
But Alma laughed casually, "I'm looking forward to that one," he said.
"By the way, do you have the soul guts to sell that giva meat in a double bag? I think it's a very difficult business."
"Yes, because you can eat all that delicious caron meat in Doug. To be honest, I don't think I can do business properly.... but I thought it would be meaningful to just ask what you think from those Doug people"
"Hmm? So you didn't even make any copper coins, did you come all the way to Doug for half a day?
"Right. One way or the other, it's better to broaden your perspective as a cook."
And it was also the second eye to know what the people of Gibba and the woodland were thought of in other towns.
More so, it would be difficult to sell the meat of Giva in Doug, the region of production of carons. As far as meat is concerned, I would have been satisfied as far as I could confirm what kind of appreciation I would have given to the people of Doug, whose tongues would have been fat.
"Because the heads of the Chamber of Commerce are sloppy, I was careful not to lose money. They're the only ones who can make money."
"Is the head of the Chamber of Commerce still Digola in the South District?
"Oh yeah," asked Zashma, shrugging his shoulder.
"If Digola's father leaves, this time the son will succeed. They've been with the Lords of Doug since their predecessors. Half of them are like nobles."
"The ranch work is left to others, are we even golden accounts? If you want to earn copper coins, you'd be smarter."
"Yes, it is. But, well, they'll take care of the seven rough negotiations and the gold account, so we'll just shut up and go after Karon."
Alma was laughing, not to say that she was unhappy.
I guess that means you're more sexually suited to chasing Karon under the day than a gold account.
"Oh, I finally see Marotta. Are you ready to be vicious, Zashma?
"Hmm. I have to slap my guests with disrespect. That's fine."
There was a huge caron lying in our way, among other things.
Instead, a man in a slow shape is on his knees.
He's a man with half a gray head who's just getting old. He has yellowbrown skin that burns well in the day, just like Alma, and eagerly peeks under the feet of the sleeping Karon.
"Marotta, I've brought your guests. I've come from Genos to visit the ranch, folks."
To Alma's words, the person skipped a grumpy gaze.
Those eyes bare Zashma and look around at us lined up.
"... that you're a guest from Genos? You're buying carons without even going through the Chamber of Commerce?
"No, he simply wants to take a tour of the ranch. I heard they got these handicrafts, so this is how they show me around."
"... humming his nose at the lack of interest," Marotta glanced back at Karon again.
"How's he doing?" and Alma bends over there, too.
"That's not good. I just let him walk a little and he hurt his leg again. If you keep doing this, don't get all greasy."
"Then isn't it right around the time? Grow up so far, you'll have had enough."
"Don't be stupid. If it's only been two months, this guy should grow up more splendid."
Knowing no such conversation between his masters, Karon eats grass with himself lying down. Body lengths, etc., are likely to be about Dan-Rutim, and they are giants like Oyama even as things stand.
"Let's even mix it with the Nenon leaves in the morning feed. Next time I go down to town, you'll have to share it with me from the vegetable sales."
"Is it the Leaf of Nennon? But we just had a drop in two days ago, so you're not planning on going down to town for the time being."
When Alma answered that way, Zashma took only one step.
"We're going to take an inn in town tonight. If it is, shall I deliver it to you on your way home tomorrow?
Marotta barks her gruesome gaze at Zashma.
"... you can't ask a guest to use it like that. He's out of line."
"Don't hesitate. A thank you at least for giving us a tour of the ranch. Don't worry, I'm not thinking about getting paid."
"... I've never felt safe with you."
That said, Marotta turned away from her son.
Zashma pulls back as she shrugs her shoulders.
"Then let me continue my tour, shall we? Alma, thank you for your help."
"Oh. Speak up again when you leave the ranch."
Alma raised her hand slightly, smiling bitterly.
Zashma nods back to you and then looks back at us.
"Then let's go back. Next stop is a tour of the Caron Hut."
It is a ranch in my own hometown. Leaving Alma to go back to work, we were supposed to turn back the way we came.
"My father is always like that. You've done a great job today."
"That sounds pretty handsome. It's an atmosphere of stubborn craftsmanship."
"It's not that big of a deal. Bigots who are better at dealing with carons than humans."
Then Dan-Rutim interrupted from the rear.
"But I'd be surprised if that was your father. Weren't you talking about your first return to the land in two years?
"Oh, what's wrong with that?
"And yet all that conversation makes you feel better? It's totally unthinkable by the woods!
"Well, I abandoned my hometown."
After a grumpy head, Zashma looks up at Dan-Rutim's giant.
"For example, how would it feel if your trail son left the woodland settlement by leaving his job as a hunter alone? Even if he did another job in his spare time, would you be willing to bless him?
"The gazlan? Outside the settlement?... Oh! What a hell of a story to tell, you! Didn't I just imagine it making me feel sad!
"Don't you? That's why it's normal not to be welcomed."
Zashma laughed invincibly, but Dan-Rutim came to think of it as "uhm".
"But if that was Gazlan's decision... while I feel sad and careless, I can't possibly not admit it at the end of the day. I wonder how prepared and determined Gazlan is to do so until he breaks down the woodland code..."
"Don't worry about it that seriously. If you were a hunter by the woods, you wouldn't abandon your hometown like me."
"Oh my! Are you going to abandon your hometown in such a light-hearted way!?
"It's important to me, but not to my family."
Laughing, Zashma narrowed her eyes to see something watermarked.
"I just wanted to see the outside world."
◇
Afterwards, we were to look around at the different establishments with the guidance of the Misa.
The first to be guided was a stables for carons with young children, which were co-located in a cabin where the mizza was milking.
"The grazing is set for half a day until my child's caron is ready to eat grass. This is how you keep your milk in the cabin from Jomtien."
Against one mother, Caron, four or five young carons are gathered together to suck milk. It seems that Karon is such a big animal that she has more than one child at the top.
The child Karon was a lot more idle compared to the adult beast, but still no different in loving. It was even a little touching to see those little carons sucking their milk with their noses diligently up.
"For milking carons, mix aria with feed. I'm a little hurt, Aria, but Karon will be happy to eat."
Speaking of which, far back in the day, I remember Dora's father saying that Aria the rest of the sale was to be sold to Doug as bait for Caron.
It was a story that Aria had lost everything in her father's field because I started doing business. There should be no significant change in the amount of aria consumed throughout Genos, so I guess the aria sold in another field is still sold to Doug.
"The cabin next door is that of the Carons, who are sleeping sick. I want to keep you company, so please don't hesitate.
"Yes, of course"
Next time, skinned cabins.
The building was in a painting far from the normal stables and grazing grounds.
It is a rather cynical itinerary, where after seeing the heartwarming scene of Karon's mother and child, she is shown a hut that peels off the skin and dismantles the meat.
"Skin peeling is done in the morning, so it's empty now. Do you want to take a peek?
"Yes, definitely."
The cabin was still vividly filled with the smell of blood and organs.
Large workbenches are mounted all over the room, and the rugged beams are hung with many ropes, one tip of which is connected to the pulley.
Hanging on the wall are large and small blades, and there is no laziness in the preparation of small kamadoku and iron pans to ignite the fire.
"Hmm. The tools seem superior, but otherwise they're no different from the woodland."
Dan-Rutim, who was looking indoors intriguingly, crumbles.
"Next door is the meat vault. The meat is soaked in salt from the judgment buckwheat and transported to the lodging and nearby towns. All that's left here are extra organs and leg meat."
"I figured for the worse selling yuki in Genos, you have excess foot meat?
"Right. But originally, carons are more pleasant on the torso than on the leg. I don't really feel like I'm losing that much because I'm going to end up with dried meat."
The meat of Giva distributed in the accommodation town of Genos is approximately 130 km in a day. For that matter, Kimmus and Karon's foot meat should have fallen in sales, but they haven't yet reached the stage where they realize that on a ranch-by-ranch basis.
"Would you like a taste?
"Huh?"
While I was surprised, Miza pulled a salty chunk of meat out of a sloppy jug.
So, with a knife I put out of hiding, I cut that end apart with a bump.
"This guy has just been judged in the morning, so you don't have to worry about anything. I don't quite get a chance to get a raw caron out of Doug, do I?
"Right. Thank you."
Following me, Michelle and Mim, and Kamadoku's men by the woods, received the flesh pieces.
He was nodded, and Barsha and Zida followed it, but Dan-Rutim was the only one who put his hands up among the hunters by the woods.
"That raw fish meat and yakitori tasted unusual, but I wonder what raw carons are like"
Saying so, Dan-Rutim threw Caron's flesh pieces into his mouth without fear.
I had a taste of that on the side too, but it didn't taste as bloody as I thought, and the rock salt was covered, so it was never that hard to eat.
However, it is still quite muscular because it is flesh and feet, and I think it would taste extraordinarily good if the surface alone could be broiled.
"This is... somehow, it tastes very odd"
With a solemn face, Raina-Lou says so.
"The flavor, flavor and chewing taste are as if they were separate from the meat that went through the heat. It would seem easier to eat if combined with ingredients that are as aromatic as Myrmu's..."
"Right. If it's chopped Meermoo and tau oil, I think that'll be the only dish full of it."
But even beef searing was a valuable experience even for me, as it mostly seared the surface to kill germs. I only remember eating raw meat that wasn't fish, like a leva prick or horse prick at best.
By the way, instead of Raina-Lou and Sheila-Lou, who are making sure of the flavor with their ultra-coolent faces, Rimi-Lou and Tour-Din were getting a little tearful.
"Asta... I can't swallow this whether I chew it or not..."
"Ha ha. Was it a bad taste for the ladies?
Miza is laughing delightfully.
Then Michelle, who had barely heard her voice since morning, called to you in the pretense.
"It's a good piece of meat that's well worn. The meat of carons bought in Genos is out of reach, but the carons on this ranch are in the category of winners."
"Thank God for that. But it was hired by the Chamber of Commerce to carry meat to Genos, so we don't even know what it's like to be sold."
"Hmm. So the meat from the fine ranch and the meat from the crude ranch are all sold together. We have to pay the same amount of copper coins, whether it's the meat we hit or the meat we leave behind, so we're not gonna fall for it."
"Totally! But unless it's a small personal deal, there's no way you're not going through the Chamber of Commerce."
Still, on Marotta's ranch, I guess he grows carons without losing his hands. I'm pretty sure that's because Michelle, who looks in a bad mood, went out of her way to raise her voice.
Yet I didn't miss Zashma's delightfully narrowing her eyes as she turned her back and chewed the meat.
"Then it's Kamado's cabin at the end. … and before you do, let's have a look at this one again."
Turning to the back of the meat storage shed with a guide to Misa, quite a spectacle awaited us.
It is a raw skin of a tremendous number of carons, shaded and dried in a vast space with only a roof.
"These guys are picking up at the leather shop in a few days. The coats and bags made of them are sold in Genos, right?
"Right. Leather bags are treasured to carry ingredients themselves."
It seems that the skins of Kimmus are also more predominantly processed into leather products as ingredients, but the majority of the larger and more solid products are still made of calon leather. Even the cloak for the journey that Zashma and Barsha are wrapped around would surely be made of calon leather.
"Speaking of which, the first Mizza was milking the caron, right? Looks like there was no shed to store that in, but no milk fat or cheese made here?
"Oh, milk is sold by a milkman. We just squeeze as ordered. Because milk can rot easily, it can't be sold at all."
"Really? But milk fat has been used for a long time in the Inn Town of Genos. Isn't it still a visible sale?
"Hmm? That's his first ear. Well, if we can sell enough to run out of extra ranch, maybe we can make a little money around here."
Really? When I was tilting my neck, I was gently pulled from behind.
Looking back, Zashma is laughing bitterly.
"Those delicious stories are taken by people who have power at the Chamber of Commerce. I don't know what kind of milk they sell in the lodging town, but it's just Digola's ranch."
"Really?... Then I could have bought milk from this ranch if I had spoiled it to Polearths?
Whispering and I asked, Zashma shrugged her shoulders with the same expression.
"It's a public and private confusion. That's the same way Digola's father would make money if he got into the aristocracy, right?
"Oh, is that what it is"
"That's what it is.... and if my stubborn father finds out, he'll be yelling at me for doing something extra."
For once, isn't that the majority of the reason for Zashma?
Thinking that way, Miza said, "Well!," he raised his energetic voice.
"Then it's time for Kamado's cabin. Follow me when you're ready to sweat."
That was never an exaggeration. In that building, which was no less large than the other huts, a number of scallops were installed, and the fat and bones of the carons were simmered in large quantities.
"Fat will be consumed or sold as a ingredient for beast fat candles. As I was saying, the bones are the meal we eat."
The sweaty women are stirring the pan thoroughly with a giant stick. The size of the pan was also different digits, and the white smoke was about to soak up indoors, and my whole body was going to get greasy just standing.
What was further built next to it was a smoked hut.
Unbuyable foot meat is eventually processed into dried meat here.
We were going to give it a taste here, but the dried meat of the caron still tasted like a very salty beef jerky. This is the same flavour as it is sold in the Inn Town.
"This is the place. Are you satisfied with your guests?
The first half of our tour of Doug ended safely with such a raunchy grin of Mizza.
