"Oh, my God, you again."
As Schmiral steps into the store, an evil voice is thrown at him.
The shopkeeper's man, arrayed at the reception desk set in the back of the store, has dazzled Schmiral with an eye that stripped away his disgust.
"How many times are you going to make me say the same thing when my shop forbids people from coming in and out of the east? Get the hell out of here before it hurts."
"Yes, but in the land of the west, the people of the east and the south, they are forbidden to coax, to wake,"
When Schmiral argued that way, the shopkeeper's man rang his throat "heck".
"I am turning away the people of the east so as not to cause any indulgence. Even the guards will admit that I am more right."
"But me, the hound, I want you to sell it, I hope"
"Terrible!" the man slammed his clenched fist against the reception desk.
He is a South born man, who seems to be over fifty years old already. He wears a round hat on his head, from which he has spilled shady and brown hair. The sunburned, reddish face was hidden by a rich beard with half of it, and the green eyes glowing beneath the splendid eyebrows were burning brightly.
"Sell my precious hound to the people of the east! Come on, get out of here! If you don't leave, I'll call for a guard!
"... I understand. Also, I'll get back out."
"Tomorrow and the day after, no going in or out! Give your soul back to God with a black face!
And Schmiral gave him his prayers, and returned the calumny.
In the process, a cage placed on the wall enters into view. Relaxing in a giant cage were all the hounds with splendid bodies.
Meet those hounds, too, before Schmiral leaves the store.
Then Radajid, who had been waiting for him in front of the store, turned away.
"Yelling, to the commute, I heard it. Shouldn't we give up, Schmiral?
"No. Hounds, giving up, can't"
In the past, there are a lot of people going around. This was the territory of the Duke of Derm, of Alglad, the king's capital to the west. Facing the West Dragon Sea, this territory has developed in trade, and it was now even more Easter. As the days grew, the town felt more vibrant.
Feeling comfortable with the buzz, Schmiral puts his gaze around the shop sign that just came out.
The sign was engraved with "hounds, jewels and groceries" in the western language.
Miscellaneous to the hounds and the jewels and the groceries were odd combinations, but the reason for this was also considered by Schmiral. Some of the specialties in the southern kingdom of Jagal were steel weapons, iron fixtures, woodworking crafts, and ceramic vessels. I suppose this store deals with goods that exclude such specialties.
In this derm, southern merchants visit most of them by sea. For the Grand Duchy of Zelad stands between the king's capital in the west and Jagal. Zerad was originally the land of the border from which the Grand Duke, who was neglected in the King's Capital of the West, was driven, but he took the opportunity to prosper when he discovered a large mine, and how long he became independent of the Kingdom of the West in the name of the Grand Duchy.
Of course when it comes to independence from the kingdom of the west, it makes no difference that they are the sons of Western God. The people of the Grand Duke of Zerad are at odds with the present royal family by claiming that they are the authentic rulers of the West Kingdom.
The Grand Duchy of Zerado, which has retained control of the surrounding peripheral territories, has ascended to a large force that can no longer be seen. And they used rich minerals as trading material, which led to strong bonds with the southern kingdoms.
With such a Grand Duchy of Zerad standing, it becomes harder to get from Jagal to the King's Capital by road. Jagal was therefore trading with Wang Du by sea.
Even if we are in good faith with the Grand Duchy of Zelad, the Kingdom of the West is itself a friend. I guess the saying of the southern kingdom will be "the same friends of the west as both Zerad and the king's capital". The kingdom of the south retained friendly relations with both sides under the covenant that it would not interfere in the sight of Zelad and the king's capital.
(Thus, for the blind dealings with Jagal, it has already been established in this derm as well. Therefore, I guess this store was to take sole responsibility for the hounds, gems and groceries that had not yet been established on the path of the transaction)
That was Schmiral's view.
This is the only place in the flourishing port town of Darm that deals with hounds. Hounds and the like do not arrive as often as iron fixtures, ceramics and fine workmanship, so it seems that this one house will have enough. Therefore, Schmiral had to flex the owner of this shop at all costs.
(In this land, I am finally going to find what I want. On the road from Wang Du to Genos, it will be difficult to find a more useful presence for hunting Giva than for hounds. So...... you can never give up)
Schmiral was to look up at the face of his friend, who was as long as one fist.
"Radajid. I, the last resort, let's use it, I'm thinking"
"... are you serious, Schmiral?
"Yes, because what I was deciding, a month, just sooner"
Radajid sighed as he squeezed out the contents of his lungs.
'... I guess Schmiral won't take my advice or anything anyway. To be honest, I feel like I'm gonna get my chest ripped off'
I guess he decided he couldn't convey his mood in the Western language. Radajid said so in the eastern language.
With all due respect, Schmiral makes me try to answer that.
'I am truly grateful to the Radajids for not abandoning me like this. Whatever fate I follow, the Radajids are irreplaceable friends and compatriots until that moment when I give my soul back'.
Radajid glanced back at Schmiral, slightly frowning.
Those black eyes are filled with different emotions. Even if I never moved my expression, I never misjudged it.
"Today is the 28th of the Purple Moon. At least not after the silver moon?
'No. If a hound sells in the meantime, it makes no sense. I will be busy with the priests in the west, so I am thinking of talking to them today and having them perform the ritual in the earliest possible days'
"At the end of the year, I don't think there's going to be a human being who wants to buy something like a hound."
And Radajid returned the blemishes, and threw himself into the crowd that was coming and going.
As he follows, Schmiral throws his voice on Radajid's back.
"Have I offended Radajid?
'If being angry changes your mind, let's make you angry as much as we can.... but where I got angry the results wouldn't change'
When Schmiral lined up beside him, Radajid sent his gaze across.
The eyes are lit with light like a child's shank.
"The Temple of Western God must have been here. Weren't we supposed to talk about this by the end of the day?
Schmiral accidentally let his mouth down.
Radajid is increasingly eye-catching.
"Is it too early to break your expression? Schmiral is still the son of the Oriental God."
'Right. But even in Radajid's eyes, his emotions seem to be spilling all over him'
Schmiral thus proceeded along the streets of the port town with his irreplaceable friends.
◇
Then three days later - it is the 31st day of the purple moon.
Even that day, the end is already upon us. The port town of Darm was engulfed in the darkness of the night, and all that remained was to wait for the renewal of the Sun God.
However, people never sleep at the end of the year. Most humans make noise through the night and wait for the sunrise. People are taking chairs and tables out to the streets to cheerfully exchange drinks. Human beings from different lands were visiting this derm, but as long as he was a people of the kingdom, he was no stranger to this learning.
Trying to spark such enthusiasm, Schmiral is walking down the street.
The members of the Silver Star, including Radajid, were silently following suit. This is a matter for Schmiral personally, so everyone didn't have to worry about enjoying The Day of Doom, but who wouldn't care for me as one.
Eventually, Schmiral stopped his legs after he went through a busy street and reached the top of a small high hill.
Underneath the eyes, the scenario by the sea is spreading. The bright ground and dark sea level were nicely bisected because of the burning fire up to the shoreline.
Looking down at such a fantastic scene, one figure tilts the soil bottle of liquor.
"Excuse me," Schmiral said after breathing relief.
"I apologize for relaxing. Often, may I?
A shadow sitting on the hill looked back at this one.
It is the figure of the people of the south in round hats that is illuminated by the light of the moon.
"Is it you... the soul or the guts to finally strip away the nature of the Viper and attack me?
"No, there's no reason to attack."
"Hmm. Then what did you take so many of them for?
If the people of the south were surrounded by the people of the east in such darkness, they would feel threatened. When Schmiral glanced, the Radajids went back just a little bit.
"It's them, me, my countrymen. Never, harmlessly,"
"Did you find out? If you don't have business, you can disappear. The last liquor this year is gonna taste bad."
"I'm sorry. It was closed today, so I've been looking for you since noon."
"That's a black snake-like obsession to the east. But I'm not willing to do business with you."
"Yes, but here, I want you to see"
Schmiral opened the front of his leather coat and released his arms.
Put your left arm wide aside and your right fist over your heart.
"I, Shmiral, am the Son of Western God, I swear"
The man frowned all the time and kept looking at Schmiral.
"... what imitation is that? Above all, are you willing to trample on your oath of divinity?
"No. This morning, God, the ritual to transfer, fulfilled. I, the son of Western God, am reborn."
A deep deep wrinkle is carved between the man's eyebrows.
At the end of the day, the man fisted the ground.
"Don't let the fool out! Is it that easy to switch gods! You're not going to switch to Oriental God again after you've bought the hound!
"That would be an unacceptable place to work. I, my soul, will live, as the Son of Western God, until I give it back."
In the darkness, green eyes were burning like fire.
"Are you insane? You abandoned God and your hometown just to buy a hound?
"Yes, but originally, God, it was meant to be transferred, so it was just a time of year, it was quicker"
"... why?," the man abandoned low.
"In this day and age, I can't think of any reason to transfer God. What the hell did you do with such a ridiculous imitation?
"Explain, will it be necessary?
"I need it. If you are a fool who has no fear of God, you may have taken a false oath. I do not intend to do business with such an undelivered person"
Schmiral took one breath and then proceeded to walk towards the man.
So finally, I can see the man's expression firmly. There was a strong look of suspicion on the man's face.
"... me, the woman in the west, I thought. To be my son-in-law, to wish, there was no other God, to transfer."
"Don't let it get out of your way. Are there people who transfer God for women? Isn't it permissible to give birth to a child without transferring God or something?"
"No. The woman, under a strict code, lives. weddings, leaving them unattended, children, living, unacceptable"
"What is that? A noble princess or something?
"No. It's the territory of Genos, the inhabitants, the people by the woods. Explain, it's hard...... people by the woods, liberal pioneers, similar clans. It's not only the laws of the kingdom, it's the code of the clan, it's abiding by it."
"You want me to abandon God and my homeland for such a barbarian daughter?
"Forestside people, barbarians, there is no. Brave, but clean. words, revoke, and demand."
When Schmiral stuffed up, the man had responded with a strong eye.
"... Are you seriously skipping words like that?
"I mean it. An insult to me, okay, but an insult to the people by the woods, I can't forgive you. words, revoke, and demand."
The man laughed loudly, after being silent for a while - as if it had caught on fire.
"What, that side? So you're just gonna keep your anger to yourself? Aren't you a face like a toddler featured with confectionery! Is that the kind of face that frightens them!
"It frightens me, I need it, I don't feel it. It's just words, revocations, wishes."
"You guys can't seem to move your faces! Does that keep the people of the west together?
The man shook his shoulder and laughed, adding another earthen bottle of liquor.
Then slap your side of the ground with your hands flat.
"Sit down for a second. I'm tired of looking up at someone as long as you are."
"Sit down, okay, but can you say, revoke, or wish?
"Hmm. Is there any difference in snake-like depth of obsession?... I've never heard of a forest folk or anything. I said barbarians because you brought out freedom-exploring people, etc. If you insist that the people of the woods and the others are not barbarians, let's undo what you just said."
"Thank you," then Schmiral sat in the place of the man.
Since the original back length is different, there is still a height difference between the head and the head. The man came up to look up at Schmiral's face with a cheek wand on his lap with an agua on.
"So why are you trying to buy a hound?" Does that have anything to do with son-in-law, too?
"Yes. It's a folk by the woods, a family of hunters. I, as a hunter, need strength to live."
"You, the merchant, are the hunter? Why don't we do something about that with the poisonous grass we're good at?"
"In sims, meadows, hunters, poisonous grass, I don't use them. Forestside people, like, I think."
"So how about an iron trap or something? Hounds are not the only means of hunting."
"Hunters by the woods, different means, taking, supposedly. Iron, even without use, a similar trap, already present, likely, likely. Hounds, most useful, supposedly."
So Schmiral decided to add some less logical words as well.
"And... hounds, me, I've never seen it before, but I felt something, tototoss, something going through it. The people by the woods, tototos, mind, and passing, so the hounds, likewise, expect."
"Hmm. Otherwise, I'd hardly use a hound"
The man grinned abundantly, wandering his rich jawbeard.
Those green eyes stare at Schmiral as if he were sneering.
"Whatever it is, to abandon God and your homeland for a woman or something, it's a crazy thing. The black-faced Oriental God will be sighing in disdain."
"Yes, it might be"
After answering as such, Schmiral decided to say more questions.
"From me, too, question, would you mind?
"What. I want you to teach me how to dictate a woman."
"No. It's about you, business. Darm, southern merchants, many visitors, but people who live and open shops, hardly exist, I think."
The man covered his face with an earthen bottle of liquor.
"... the products I deal with in my store have been bought and beaten with darm for a long time. Because fewer humans know the value of hounds and gems than iron fixtures, ceramics and fine workmanship. Especially jewellery, silverwork, etc. because Sims' products were considered to be supreme. To tap the value of Jagal hounds and jewels into those people, is there anything else you can do to sit back and tackle them?
"I see, it makes sense. But you, your family, you're not here? Merchant ships, whether we use them or not, darm, jagal, should be far away. Also, months, shops, vacant space, it should be difficult"
"I've lived in the dark for ten years now. I'm out of touch with the family, so nothing's inconvenient."
That said, the man turned his gaze to the scene under the hill.
The dark sea level is like darkness itself.
"... I was originally a sailor. I spent as much time on the ocean as I did in my hometown. In time, the wife left the house with all her affection, and each of the children nestled... but no one intended to be a sailor. That's how the house became empty and the cruise that I enjoyed so much became boring."
"So, home, did you leave?
"Hmm. My hometown left me, but I didn't transfer God like you did. If I screw up, it's the South that my soul is headed for.... but until then, no matter where or how you spend it, it's no different. Then I thought it would be smarter to live in a land with a business outlook."
The man laughed sarcastically and looked back at Schmiral more.
"If you could enter your son-in-law wherever you want, would you also throw away your life as a traveler?
"No. One year, as a hunter, six months, as a merchant, alternating, going to live"
"You're getting more and more drunk. In those six months, your wife might give you her love."
"I will do my best not to."
"Well, it's no joke that a man who abandons God is abandoned by a woman."
The man has tilted the earthen bottle with momentum before sticking it out to Schmiral.
"Drink. It's Nyatta's distillery. If you abandoned the eastern gods, there's no reason to hate southern liquor."
Schmiral said it without getting lost.
But I can't help but think about the strength of too much alcohol. Moreover, the liquor had a unique flavour that had no resemblance whatsoever to Gamma's milk liquor or the western fruit liquor.
"... sweetness, acidity, non-existent liquor, this is the first time"
"You idiot. Don't you see how sweet Nyatta is? Fruit and sugar aren't the only sweets."
The man laughed, and he mouthed the liquor himself.
From behind me then, I hear a low chant.
Looking back, the Radajids were kneeling on the grass dressed to turn their backs here.
Across it - harbour towns and miscellaneous woods stretching beneath the hills are being illuminated by morning light. Finally, the Sun God regenerated.
"The sea, being on the west side, I'm sorry"
"Hmm. The West Dragon Sea is in the east. I don't know if you're complaining because you can worship a big view at sunset."
That's what the man said as he watched the back of the Radajids chanting.
"But you're a disgusting voice. Do the people of the east bless the regeneration of the Sun God for such a condition"
"Yes. Me, the West lesson, I don't know yet"
"Oh, my God, I forgot about the southern lesson."
That's what the man said as he narrowed his eyes to the golden glow that engulfed the world.
Burning the same scene into his eyes, then Schmiral looks back at the man.
"Me, after a year and a half, again, this land, I will visit. We look forward to seeing you again."
"Am I right? It's like a goodbye greeting."
"Yes. Wang du, commerce, done, so the hounds, bought them, and then we plan to leave.... Me, my soul, the woman who was taken, Genos, because I'm waiting"
The man also looked back at Schmiral, smiling at him less.
"At the end of the day, let me say you're an idiot. If you thought it would be that easy to leave, you'd be long gone."
"Yes. Exit, will it be difficult?
"If you want to leave, you can do whatever you want, but are you treating the hounds the best you can? No way, you think you can just take those guys to the mountains or the woods and capture their prey on your own?
Soon, my salutation had changed from "you" to "you".
But now, we can't be fooled by such things either.
"Sure, I was losing it. Hounds, how to handle them, can you get them out of hand?
"If you want to pay for it. Oh, yeah. But if you're dealing with a bunch of amateurs, you'll need plenty of half a month."
"Half a month......," Schmiral said, stalling.
The man laughs with a heartfelt pleasure.
"I thought it was about the board to move your face! If you were half a moon late and you were such a loving woman, you wouldn't have gotten along from the start."
Schmiral was to take a deep sigh.
But the joy and dawn that surpasses the disappointment is leaping in my chest. Schmiral had just taken the first step to finally enter his son-in-law by the woods.
(Will the next Easter celebrate the light of regeneration with Vina-Lou)
Thinking that way, Schmiral looked back at the man again.
The man is laughing cheerfully.
The smile was also thought to be engraved as an unforgettable memory for Schmiral.
