Chapter 258: Chapter 256: Husband and Wife Travel Together, On Horseback, Laughing to the Sky!
A horse carrying two people sped along a small path between the mountains.
In the chilly wind of early winter morning, the accumulated snow from last night was swept up by the galloping horse. With each pounding of its hooves, the snow splattered all around, accompanied by a shower of fine ice and raindrops falling down.
The horse, with snow splashing beneath its hooves, sped along the path, carrying the two riders on its back. Breathing in the cold air, thick mist puffed out but dissipated in the air before condensing.
Liu Sisi covered her face tightly, as the howling wind blinded her eyes. She tried to open them countless times, but her hair whipped wildly in her face.
She could only turn her head to the side and finally caught sight of their surroundings.
The scenery on both sides of her body was fast retreating, and it was so familiar yet endearing in her eyes at that moment.
How long had it been since she last saw such rapidly retreating scenery!
Di Yelei held Liu Sisi firmly in his embrace, descended from the small path and raced along the riverbank.
There were not many people on the riverbank in the early morning winter. Occasionally, there were two or three little kittens washing their clothes in the shallow water. Seeing the galloping horse with the two riders, they straightened up and looked at the receding figures, whispering to each other.
They rode on, galloping all the way, not knowing how long they had been running.
From the initial fear to now sitting comfortably on the horse’s back, Liu Sisi went through a tremendous change!
Di Yelei was delighted!
It seemed like Sisi liked horse riding! What a good sign!
“Ye Lei, Ye Lei over there!”
Liu Sisi exclaimed with joy, quickly pointing a finger, prompting Di Yelei to look.
It was a vast sandy beach with a few low shrubs on the ground covered in a layer of accumulated snow, completely white as far as the eye could see.
“Alright! Let’s go check it out.”
While speaking, he swiftly pulled the reins, and the horse changed directions, speeding towards the wide expanse of snowy wilderness.
Trotting on the wilderness, drawing circles, horse hooves stirring up, and leaving behind a series of peculiar horseshoe prints on the snow.
There were hoof-shaped ones, strip-shaped ones, and fan-shaped ones. Underneath the snow was the accumulated sand. When the horse stepped on it, it would leave a hoof-shaped hole. But with the force of the horse’s leg lifting varying, all sorts of shapes were swiftly left on the snow, extending the trail all the way to where the two approached.
Liu Sisi laughed! Her silvery laughter was contagious to Di Yelei behind her. He suddenly let go of the reins, raised his head with a sudden swing, and cupped both hands around his cheeks, letting out a long howl!
“Rooooar!!”
The deep and mellow roar echoed through the valley, startling countless unidentified birds. Fluttering wings sent countless snowflakes swirling, making the mountains lively all of a sudden!
The joy of the two riders also spurred on the horse, making it increasingly playful. It eagerly pranced around, gradually beginning to speed up.
Di Yelei gently held the reins, allowing the horse beneath him to gallop freely, running wildly along the mountain stream.
Faster and faster, faster and faster, faster and faster!
Suddenly, the horse stopped in its tracks. Before Liu Sisi could adapt to the abrupt change, it couldn’t help but rear up, letting out a skyward howl!
Drip, drip, drip!
As the howl continued, the horse fiercely shook its head several times.
While the horse was in high spirits, the two riders on its back were not having as much fun!
“Ah! Help!——”
Liu Sisi couldn’t help but close her eyes as she instinctively screamed.
Di Yelei acted even faster. His legs firmly clamped the horse’s belly, one hand embraced the small woman in his arms, and the other tightly held onto the reins…
A warm embrace held her tightly. She quietly opened her eyes, meeting Di Yelei’s gaze directly.
His eyes were filled with passion and bright spirit, peering down at her in his arms. They also took in the vast beauty surrounding them, making his gaze even more profound.
Liu Sisi hurriedly turned her head away, trying to avoid his stare, and only then let out a sigh of relief.
It turned out that the two of them were still seated steadily on the horse’s back!
“Just now… that really scared me to death.”
Di Yelei’s fiery gaze didn’t waver, instead, a series of deep laughter erupted from his throat.
At once, Liu Sisi’s cheeks flushed. She gently pushed him away, trying to sit up straight.
Immediately, his muffled laughter grew louder, and he couldn’t help but laugh even harder.
Liu Sisi’s embarrassment grew and, annoyed, she spat, her small, crystal-clear earlobes betraying her feelings at the moment.
“Don’t worry! Regardless of the life-threatening risk, your husband will always protect you!”
He said with persistent determination, his deep eyes never leaving her face for a moment.
Liu Sisi was puzzled, staring straight into his vast and profound eyes for a while before coming back to her senses.
She quietly lowered her head, and her face turned an even deeper shade of red at his words, “Silly, I’ve always believed in you.”
His iron arm suddenly tightened around her waist, and he took in a deep breath before exhaling slowly.
“I am a fool, your fool. You are also my little fool. A fool and a little fool, destined to be a perfect match.”
“Pfft! Are you trying to say tongue twisters?”
Liu Sisi laughed delightedly!
Looking around, they found themselves in a completely unfamiliar environment. The sun had gradually risen, shining on the surrounding white snow and casting dazzling silver rays that nearly blinded her eyes.
“Eh!Where are we? How far did we run?”
Di Yelei casually glanced around, pointing at a mountain in the distance, “Not too far. Look over there—that’s Heilong Mountain, where we’ve been before. But this is the north side, Black Dragon Village’s territory.”
Liu Sisi was astonished!
“So far? The horse didn’t seem to run for very long. How did we travel such a distance?”
“Well, the horse we’re riding now might not be able to travel a thousand miles in a day, but 800 miles is definitely within its capabilities!”
Speaking of the horse beneath him, Di Yelei was naturally full of pride, as if there were endless topics to discuss.
Up on Heilong Mountain, where the two just pointed, a figure was gazing in their direction. He stood silently amongst a grove of pine and cypress, almost melding with the surrounding environment.
Just now, the commotion caused by the man and horse had alarmed him.
When he came out to take a look, the sight of the two on the horse’s back nearly blinded him.
The two of them stood quietly on a patch of snow, so harmonious yet, at the same time, so different.
