Cain looked at his wristwatch and sighed. He had checked on his butler earlier and found out that Kimmy did not arrive at their residence yet. He was expecting her to report early but she didn't.
"She agreed to serve me and my father today. Did she change her mind?" He whispered while he looked blankly at a mobile number on his phone's screen.
He was at his office, inside Lewis Hospital as the Chairman and CEO of the group. He rarely accepted patients except for any member of the Royal Family since he was focusing more on managing the group. He heaved out another sigh before he dialed Will's number.
"Doc what's up? What's with the sudden call, huh?" Will answered from the other line.
"Do you have Kimmy's mobile number?" Cain asked directly.
"That brat is so sneaky!" Will nonchalantly commented. "None of us have her number except for her favorite person, His Highness Cedric. He already left with Brione. I don't think you'll be able to reach him. They should be in the plane by now. I also doubt that he will give you Kimmy's number… Scratch that. I'm hundred percent sure that he definitely won't give you her number so calling him will be just a waste of time!."
"Okay." Cain gave a brief reply before he ended the call. He was aware that Kimmy has always wanted to have her own privacy. She clearly told him that during the time when he first drove her to her apartment. She even made him promise that he should not tell anyone where she was staying, most especially her mother.
Once again, he glanced at his wristwatch. It was almost lunchtime when his secretary came and asked him if he wanted to have his food delivered in his office but he told her that he would be eating outside instead.
He did not know why but he couldn't help but feel uneasy and a bit worried for Kimmy so he called his secretary and informed, "I will be heading out now. Call me only if there's anything urgent and important. If not then I will take care of it the earliest I can get back."
He left his office and rushed to his car. He hurriedly drove, heading straight to Kimmy's apartment. He arrived at the building in no time but the security blocked him and did not allow him to enter. It was a good thing that he knew a friend living in one of the units, giving him access to head inside.
He immediately went to the elevator doors but instead of pressing the button on where his friend's floor was located, he pressed another. The elevator car lifted him up to the floor where Kimmy's unit was located.
As soon as the elevator stopped, the door slid open. He walked towards Kimmy's apartment door. He pressed the doorbell and waited. Receiving no response, he rang the doorbell again until it took him five doorbells to finally give up as he thought that she might not be around.
Just as he was about to leave, he heard some movements inside which caused him to face the door. He waited for it to be opened. His eyes met Kimmy's. She was wearing a thick layer of clothes and her hair was so messy. Stray strands obscured her face. She had to brush them off from her face just so she could see the man standing before her.
He had never met a woman who had the confidence to open her door in that kind of state… No shame at all.
"Oh, you're here. I was planning to come early today but I was feeling a bit weird so I thought I'll just go a bit later," Kimmy whispered, she sounded rather weak as she did.
A crease found its way on Cain's forehead. He noticed how pale her face was. Beads of sweat were rolling down from her forehead.
He instinctively reached out, placing his hand on her forehead just so he could check her temperature. "You're burning up."
Kimmy ignored him. She shoved his hand away from her forehead. She turned her back at him and walked back inside. He followed.
"Yeah, I will be fine in just a few hours. It's probably just the weather since winter is coming. I wanted to call you but I don't have your number. I called big bro Cedric but I can't reach him," she whispered.
Her body was indeed burning up. It was already hard for her to walk because of how heavy her body felt. She plopped down on the couch of her living room. She had been staying there since it was more convenient for her.
Cain couldn't help but frown when he saw how messed up Kimmy's living room was. There were a lot of empty cup noodles on the center table. Bottles of water and juices filled the table as well. What caught his attention the most was the blankets that she pulled to cover herself. "Were you sleeping on the couch?!"
"Yes, Master! I bet you're here to remind me of my duties," Kimmy scoffed.
He pressed his lips together as he looked at her sorry state. Instead of retorting to her words, Cain asked, "Have you eaten your lunch already?"
"Not yet but I have noodles here. I have various instant foods. Do you want one? That's the only thing I can offer," Kimmy whispered, her voice hoarse. She slumped her body back on the couch.
Cain grabbed his phone from his pocket and instructed his assistant to order delivery food to the address he would give her. After doing so, he went to the kitchen to check the refrigerator. His eyes widened in disbelief when he saw the contents.
"What the hell is this?" he gasped, seeing there was nothing except for bottles of juices, milk, and some yogurt. He even noticed an opened canned good that looked rotten already.
'Just what the hell was wrong with Kimmy? How could she still survive when she had this kind of diet?'
He walked back to the woman on the couch. He sat beside her on the couch as he checked her temperature once again by touching her neck.
"What are you doing?" Kimmy hissed. She didn't have the strength to slap his hand away.
"Do you feel any pain in your body? Just cold? How about here? Open your mouth?" Cain demanded. Kimmy could only follow what he asked since he was a doctor.
"I will go out for a while to buy a few things and medicine. Give me the passcode for the door so that you won't have to open it for me." Cain instructed.
"Later the front desk will call you and ask for your permission to give me the authorization to enter this place."
Kimmy sighed. "Noted Master!"
Well, she was at his mercy for three months. She didn't have a choice at that moment but to let the damn doctor do whatever he wanted as he pleased for now.
"Where is your phone?" Cain added.
Kimmy nuzzled her lips towards the center table where she placed the phone.
Cain grabbed it and said, "Let's exchange numbers so that it would be easier for us to contact each other."
"Noted Master," Kimmy mumbled.
