Keira heard footsteps approaching so she turned to uncle Damiel and said, "I think they are here."
They both stood up from their seats to approach them.
Gavin felt a bit awkward at first since he could not recall Keira and Damiel at all but as he conversed with them, he gradually felt comfortable. He felt like he really had known them for so long.
"Are you saying that you lived with those tribes for that long?" Keira exclaimed to which Gavin nodded in response.
"No wonder we were unable to find you. That island is very secluded and no one could enter there so easily but I guess people in love will not stop at nothing. I'm grateful Brione found you," Keira said as she turned to Brione with a teasing look.
"Yeah, we had an island hopping tour during my shoot. It was during that time that I accidentally saw his figure on that beach. It took me a while before I could convince the people in authority at Perdu Island to help me go back there and recheck the place," Brione explained. It was the details they came up with for the story of how she found Gavin.
"I really do believe in fate. If two people are meant for each other, no matter how long it will take, they will definitely end up with each other because their fate was already written to be together," Keira said rather merrily. She was too amazed at how everything turned out to be after more than a year of grieving.
"You really do not recall anything, Son?" Damiel asked as he turned to him.
Brione was quiet but she was sneakily observing Uncle Damiel's expressions just like what Luo and Noah were doing. None of them were convinced that uncle Damiel was involved in that tragic incident with the Royal Family back then.
"I do recall a few things, Father, but not all. Some are fragments but not about the people around me. It's only Brione… and some of our memories together. It's still incomplete. I can only recall some flashes of scenes with her," Gavin replied.
"That's alright son, take your time. Now that you're here, we can create more memories together." Daniel whispered.
The conversation took a bit long so Brione had to excuse herself first since she had an evening party to attend to.
"Do excuse me, I will need to leave you guys. I still need to attend an evening party," Brione informed. Mitch and Berry had already called her a few times just to remind her that they were already in her penthouse to help her get ready. The evening party was going to be a formal dinner. She would still need to set herself for the special number she prepared that night.
"Go…" Gavin said with a smile.
Brione gave him a peck on his lips before she bid her farewell to the others.
Gavin turned to Damiel after his wife left and asked, "Father, can you show me to my room?"
"Sure, let me show you to your room, Son," Daniel answered with a soft smile as he stood. He gestured to Gavin to follow him after excusing themselves from Keira, Luo, and Noah.
Gavin followed Damiel as he led him to his room.
"All your clothes are there. I leave it the way it was. I have always believed that you will come home one day," Daniel said as he sat on the couch inside Gavin's bedroom.
Gavin heaved a sigh. He wanted to confront Damiel but at the same time, something inside of him was stopping him from doing so. He could feel sincerity but there was this inkling of doubt inside him. He was still hoping that the man in front of him who he saw as a Father would have no connection with that Duncan.
"You see, I was so devastated when you went missing like that but all those heartaches are now replaced by this overwhelming bliss now that you come back to us. I will now apologize to you in advance if this Father of yours will get a bit clingy in the coming days. I just missed you so much Son." Damiel's voice cracked as tears welled up in his eyes. He quickly wiped them away before he was able to muster up a smile for his son.
"Father, can you tell me about my real identity?" he straightforwardly asked. There was no point in delaying things especially when he had been seeking for the truth behind what happened.
He turned to look at Damiel whose face paled at him. "What do you mean son?"
"I found out that our DNA does not match, Father. I have to ask for a DNA test since I do not remember anything. That's why I requested Brione to get me a sample from the man she insists is my family. Brione wanted to discuss this with you but I told her not to," he revealed.
"I don't know why but I just can't simply trust anyone at this point. I asked her to get a sample from you without your knowledge but please don't blame her. This was my condition for her if she wanted me to believe her and go with her. The result didn't match so I didn't want to come here at first…
However, I ended up remembering memories of Brione… She is the only reason why I came back. I decided to trust all her words when she asked me to come with her and directly discuss this matter with you. She believed that you have your reasons, including answers to all my questions. She told me that you have been a good Father to me.
I have this strong feeling towards Brione even if my memories with her are not complete. Ever since I met her, I have never felt so attracted towards anyone but her. It's like my heart was saying that I love her and I should trust her. So in the end, I trusted what I felt for her. I decided to come back with her."
Gavin looked intently into Damiel's eyes when he said those words. He was trying his best to see through his Father. He noticed the conflicted look on Damiel's face.
"This is so sudden, Son... but I guess you are bound to know about this sooner and later," Daniel replied with a downcast look on his face. His shoulders dropped and Gavin could see the disappointment in his eyes.
It was harder than he thought it would be. He had a hard time reading Damiel's expression at all but deep in his heart he was too affected by the conflicted emotions he saw from the old man in front of him… The man who he saw as a Father. He might not remember it yet but he could feel that he, indeed, had a strong bond with him somehow.
"I want to know the truth, Father. All of it," Gavin pleaded.
